it sucks driving older models of cars, but the new models are waaaaaaaaaaaay easier.abdu4
I love driving the Saber GT. Just like a Fastback Mustang, and great handling and speed. My car of choice.
I think that the worst aspect (nah, almost all the aspects of gta4 flaws) are in its controllers/glitches but, one aspect struck out the most: driving. How come the physics in driving are so bad, it looks like in most cases you are going 5 mph, or when you go at 50 mph you have zero control of the turning, and takes around 10 seconds to brake. The controls are so bad that the SUV is basically unplayable, and some missions wHere you have to run away from cops are so difficult because of this. I'm basically hitting tree after tree, or lampost, building than wall, because of this. numba1234
I think the driving is more difficult to control than the old games, but I don't necessarily think it means it's bad. If anything it's worse then the old games, but a lot of your reasons are just....wrong.

In GTA4 there is a lack of speed, that was in the other GTA games, and also the other GTA games while not having realistic graphics, had much better manuverability, among control.. The camera is also iffy, because I'm constantly moving the camera, to where I want to go, the game doesn't give enough area (unlike my view in GTA SA) that causes driving to be even more difficult. But the worst of the things is that all the cars feel like big rigs, I could hardly control any of them. From turning left, or moving to the next lane, almost everything is impossible.I don't really care about 'realism' why would I be playing gta if I wanted realism. Most people die after being shot, and when stabbed, they can't just eat a hamburger and suddenly have all of their life back.. THe physics while realistic, make the game less fun, making me complain about it.
Sometimes I hate driving the helicopters and speaking about helicopters, anyone get the achievement where you have to fly under all the bridges that crosses water also there's a bridge that goes across the lake at that park, is that part of the achievement? It's so challenging to do, I loves it, instant replay value.
Everybody that's saying it's difficult: Have you tried switching the controls to "Classic" so that the gas is mapped to the X or A button?
I own a PS3 and at first I thought the driving was rather needlessly difficult. Then I realized something: this didn't have to do with how the cars handle, it had to do with the insanely stupid choice to map the gas to the absolutely horrible R2 button. I assume that they did this under the influence of the 360 version, whose controller has excellent triggers that are ideal for driving.
After having this realization, I switched it to "Classic Mode" and the driving became excellent, which it was in the first place. The only sucky thing is the Sixaxis's triggers.
Sure, with GTAIV's driving, a little bit more skill is required (which is a good thing), but the driving is more polished and honed for sure.
Indeed the driving is fabulous on the 360 version with the triggers.Everybody that's saying it's difficult: Have you tried switching the controls to "Classic" so that the gas is mapped to the X or A button?

Trash.
j/k, it's not good, just okay. It feels a bit 'out-of'tune' compared to established racers. But this isn't a racing game, so i'll let it slide. ^_^

I think your GTA4 skills... = fail.. I have fun with that game.. ESPECIALLY driving, and ESPECIALLY SUV's

Go outside hop in your car if you have one, find a long road speed up to 50 mph and turn sharply. You never have complete control of a car (being realistically) when your at high speeds taking a sharp turn.
everyone seems to have an opinion on this....an here's mine. for me, the problem lies not so much in the driving than the driving CAMERA. Had it been poised slightly higher, things wudv been waaaaay better. i say this because i use the right analog stick to lift the camera slightly higher to get a getter view of my immediate surroundings. it really makes the driving seem a lot easier. moreover, the camera doesnt turn quick enough wen u turn. im still getting the hang of using both the analog sticks simultaniously(one for the car, the other for the camera). Yes, turning corners is a bit slow this time around, but i dont mind that cuz i can handle the 360 race an brake trigger effectively enough.
bottom line: imho, drivin not bad, actually pretty cool(arcadey though, not realistic)...its just the camera holdin it back
The driving must be awful; it actually requires skill and timing, oh noes! :o
No, but seriously, the driving is great, and I have no idea why so many people are complaining about it. Once you figure out how to properly combine a little bit of regular breaking, with good steering and skillful handbraking, the driving becomes absolute cake, and you can take corners at ridiculous speeds without wiping out.

I agree. While I hated the new driving system at first, I love it now. Driving is a lot more fun in this game than it was in previous GTAs because of it.
Having the cars possess actual weight this time = bad? :?Verge_6Making it less fun, and more difficult, while adding zero realism, and making the worst brake system ever invented (takes 10 seconds to brake), ever good? I keep hearing it has more weight, it has more weight, takes time to get used to, so what? It isn't as fun as the original games driving. Making it worst. Would extra realism be beneficial for GTA4? No, I want to see NIko grabbing his wounds where he was shot, and then wait 4 weeks in the hospital, in real time, to get better, instead of eating a hamburger.

L2 and X at the sametime my friend :)

Yes, it does. To me. And guess what I care about? That's right, the enjoyment of moi. Also, emerg. brake is your friend.
I wish R* would just make two versions of the next GTA: one for people who like the weightless cars and the crazy missions and weapons and one for people like me who like the new sense of vehicular physics, the superior storyelling, the superior shooting mechanics and the more grounded gameplay design.
I'm tired of hearing that GTAIV is "worse" simply because it doesn't cater to some people's tastes.
superior story telling? This haD the worst story. Terrible characters, boring plot. It is generic, stale, and overused. Niko is a Russian who comes over because of his cousins lies. His cousin is basically the only character I liked in the game. Every other character is pretty dislikable. Much different than GTA SA, or VC. At least, the GTA SA, and GTA VC had remarkable stories, that actually made sense, instead of a feeling of disconnect for the first 4 hours, because you have no idea what the controls are, and why Niko is even in New York, besides 'money problems' in russia.I wish R* would just make two versions of the next GTA: one for people who like the weightless cars and the crazy missions and weapons and one for people like me who like the new sense of vehicular physics, the superior storyelling, the superior shooting mechanics and the more grounded gameplay design.

Superior shooting mechanics is the only thing this had, it is the worst gta game, besides GTA 3.. The crazy missions, this game is crazier, because people think this way "weight cars adds more immersion". I'll just eat my hamburger and forget I got shoot 6 times in the head, and be all right again..

Well, that's all just an opinion anyway (and it's worse, not worst). I'd actually say the driving mechanics are head and shoulders above any other GTA game personally.

All you've proved is that you don't like the story. And what are you talking about controls for? The controls have nothing to do with the story.

Quick typing, causes typos. maybe playing the game like it's Burnout is where you're going wrong. They improved the driving in GTA4 so it was more life like compared to the previous GTA games. I suggest you try driving in GTA4 more closely to how you would drive in real life and then it will make sense.

maybe you should start proof reading just so obvious errors like that are avoided.
