So how big do you think NATAL's launch will be and just to to add a bitof spice to the thread what do you think about this rumour

Granted, I know its old but I don't think anyone made a topic about it.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Microsoft will try and do the same thing Nintendo did - basically, get the 360 and make the peripheral standard. Nintendo just repackaged the GameCube with a Wiimote and a few upgrades (like DVD and SD card slot). I think MS will basically just upgrade the 360 with a few new features (perhaps even Blu-ray?) and NATAL.
that would be good. i`ed pay 299 for it i think it will be big in japan. might even give them a chance over there next gen. since not many of them invested in a 360 yet.Microsoft will try and do the same thing Nintendo did - basically, get the 360 and make the peripheral standard. dang what happened to 1up. all the posters have spam links in their comments. they all seem like bots posting on there:?
MS will sell a "Wii and PS3 version" of their console.
Most like MS will release a SKU specifically tailored for Natal. It will be cheap, similar to the arcade unit and designed for casuals/non-gamers. It will most likely come with some party/ Wii sports like game.
It will be sold in along side the Elite. The PS3 version if you will, with all the bells and whistles for a hardcore gamer, HDMI, wireless controller, 250GB HDD
This way Microsoft competes directly into their competitors territory. That is my prediction.
That sounds awful. Natal needs to be 100% optional and not a standard . then we will be able to forget that horrible thing was ever made.Microsoft will try and do the same thing Nintendo did - basically, get the 360 and make the peripheral standard. [QUOTE="Olimar_the_Min"]NATAL judging from the videos looks far superior then any other motion system every released. It will be massive. It will knock the Wii out of he market in a years time.reveiwer

Natal launch will be big, with ms money behind marketing. as far as gaming goes its already showed alot of flaws and wasnt as well thought out as it should have been......it will be enjoyed if youre not an ethnic minority lol
Zaibach
The reason why MS announced and showed it off early was to create some early buzz (which was amazingly successful) and to get developers excited about it and get them to start developing games so that the launch can be huge.
its not like Natal will be launching this year, of course there were bugs at E3, it was 1.5 years from launch!!

I think it will get boring really quickly....but it will be big with ms marketingMicrosoft at one point said they are treating NATAL like a system launch, I am too lazy to look for link.

I watched every Natal video that I could find. In practically EVERY one, there is at least a half-second delay between movements, and even more with rapid movement.
This occurs in the ball game, the paint game, the driving game, and even the charade game. I don't know if it's a limitation of the camera or what, but the delay is there, making Natal a bit far from amazing.
If you play a game online where you have a choice beteen Natal and a controller, you'll get slaughtered

i never noticed that..I'm told as big as the launch of the 360 itself.
With Rare & Lionhead intimately involved, I'm hoping for something special in the way of the first games to use Natal.
We shall see.
It will be huge due to ms marketing. Thought I doubt it will match there hype let alone the wii motion controller.

This seems to be the most sensible answer so far. Microsoft cannot reach the top by concentrating solely on one market like Sony and Nintendo did, they've been trying that for a generation and a half already and so far it hasn't paid off. So the best thing they can do is attack BOTH the markets, and thus aim for the top. They'll also be ale to avoid the Wii's shovelware laden fate that way. My only fear is that they would run the risk of fracturing their users this way.I'm guessing they will pander to the casual crowd cuz there will be few violent games that launch with the NATAL system so kinda halfhearted?
or maybe they will say This is the system to promote heathy lifestyle for the video gamers cuz if you eat/drink/smoke/flip the bird to friends/jerk around/ you will drive you race car into the side of the mountain! or make that little electronic British kid cry and chastise you.
Maybe former VP dick will be watching on the other side of the camera?
As far as I'm concered I'll shows interest in motion controls once something worthwhile is released.
As it stands now, I don't see there being a lot of hype for the launch. Until we see A LOT more in the way of games developed for NATAL I don't see much that will excite the majority of the 360 community. Likewise, I'm not seeing a lot that will pull people from the Wii to the 360.
microsoft is wasting money even investing in this crap i dont want anything to do with this crap, smokedagoodyoYour one person. Well the Wii may be the best selling console there is a few people on this board who don't like it. I am looking foward to the NATAL myself I would like to say it will have a big launch. It's got to have a big game to help with the launch and lots of good press. If it gets those two things and the economy is still improving than it will do good.
that monster game going threw the city will own. every 5-12 year kid will want it. hell i cant wait to play it lol
Huge. New console huge. The key to the success of Natal is a high adoption rate, which means it will be priced reasonably (ie $50-80 at most), it'll likely be packed-in with new "360 Slim" SKUs (which would likely mean a price cut as well), and there will be at least two or three major exclusives that take advantage of Natal (ie whatever the hell Rare is working on). Nevermind the marketing blitz.

I don't think that would be too wise an idea. Putting the games on BluRay will split your customer base in a way that not many current 360 owners would adopt.
If you are a developer, would you make games for the Xbox 360 on BluRay? I doubt that you would because it could only be played on the new Xbox 360s. That means that you have much less potential customers. You couldn't sell them to just anyone that owns a 360. It would have to be a Natal 360.
The problem with this kind of an upgrade Vs upgrades that just put in a bigger HDD or make a console smaller/less power consumption is that your new games would not be compatible with older versions of your system. Essentially you are releasing a completely new system who's games are not compatible with the older system. Now you would have Xbox 360 games and Xbox 360 Natal games. Certainly, when they release Natal as an add on Natal games won't be playable on a regular Xbox 360 that doesn't have the Natal add on, but at least current Xbox 360 owners could get the add on. If they go like you're talking about then you create a whole new console. When you do that, why wouldn't you go ahead and put in a new CPU/GPU and make a completely new console? You've already made it to where the new games won't be able to be played on the old consoles. If it's just Natal, all the old consoles need is a hopefully inexpensive add on.
word of mouth. friends coming over to see natal. the thing is gonna be huge. im bettingi know at least 5 ps only fanboys. that will get a xbox just for this after showing them the video on it.
also i can see people that are hating on it to buy it just to see parents act like fools trying to hit balls on that ball game lol
they already said theyre treating it like the launch of a new console so im guessing its going to be huge. prepare to get Natal commercials shoved down your throats every 15 minutes. lol. but i have to say if its between 50 and 100 bucks i might get it. hell i just wanna use it as a remote every thing else is gravy.
It can be difficult to make these kinds of things work. It splits the user base so developers are often not as enthusiastic about it as you might want them to be. For that reason, it's most likely going to be up to first party developers to get it out there. So far I have only seen Nintendo be able to do this effectively. I'm sure Microsoft will put some games out for it themselves and push it as hard as they can but I don't know if it'll take.
I stand by my original statements I made about Natal/Want/Motion Plus. Microsoft is copying Sony's Eye Toy while Sony is trying to copy Nintendo's Wii Mote and Nintendo is trying to fix their busted Wii Mote.
not as sucky as the ps wand will be. that thing has to use the ps eye. that dont even pick up eoj cards right. and besides sony dont support their ideas very well. example. ps eye toy, six axis controls, that video of the ps wand looked years away from being released. and its coming out next spring????? i dont think so....i think it going to be sucky becuz it just copying the ps eyetoy

I agree with Loisfoxten that Natal looks like it's copying the Eye Toy. I also agree with Monson21502 that Sony don't support that add ons very well. Basically, I think you're both right.
Natal will be delayed several times. A LOT of what you saw on the trailers will not be a part of the final product (like the skateboard scanning thing). Most games will be VERY hard to play (remember how everyone who tried it with Burnout sucked?), and the ones that work will be horrible "CASHUL!!!!!!!!!1111" games that will make Cooking Mama feel like Metal Gear Solid. And this is the best case scenario. Worst case scenario, it gets the Microsoft Surface treatment... Or maybe that's the best scenario for everyone. Who knows...
I think it's amazing how you people can spot fake screenshots like total freaking champs, but are so easily fooled by what is clearly a marketing trailer, designed specifically to create hype around something that's not going to be even remotely close to what the trailer promises.
The PS3 wand will work just as good as developers planned, though. It will be really good but, sadly, third party developers are not going to support it.

While I'm sure that some of what was shown in the trailer is BS, I think it's MUCH too early to say that it's going to blow.

how can you say the ps wand will work very well???? maybe if they release a new ps eye. but if the wand needs the eye to work then its not gonna work very well. Please Log In to post.
