Almost every family here on average has a 100 kbps speed -_-

I can only assume that the UK, EU, and Australia arn't much better probably worse.

Well, I live in Croatia, and although we don't have the best Internet infrastructure, every provider out there offers flat-rate data plans. 90% of them are actually flat-rate only.
I'm in the UK, my ISP is Virgin Media, I pay £11.50 a month for my internet (I get a good deal because I've been with Virgin for a long time) no download caps and no restrictions.
Last game I downloaded was Hitman Absolution, it took about 10 minutes (give or take)

Pretty sure most of Europe is already based on unlimited use with speeds of 10, 20, 50 and 100 Mb (and upwards for those who have the money for it) :| It is so in Portugal and Spain, so I can only assume bigger countries like France, Germany and Italy have it even better..... so yeah.... I can see DL only working well in Europe, maybe not in all countries right now but in 5 years tops it can really work well IMO.
In fact, I have a 50 Mb contract (with unlimited use+TV+Phone) and on my laptop 3 rooms away from the main hub I can manage pretty well :
On my desktop I get (usually) around 45-48 ish Mb which is pretty close to the goal, so I'm pretty happy with it (although upload speeds could be better). Also, for the whole pack I pay around 60 euros but for the net only I would pay around 20 euros (give or take).
All in all I'd say Europe is pretty well served. Could be better, but it isn't terrible by any means..

UK, EU, and Australia have the crappiest internet service. That is all I heard about from my Aussie, Brit, Ireland, and Scotish friends on xbox live. Holy geez. I dont mind virtual console download for non-disc games but I prefer to have the disc and art if I pay for a title. Old system digital downloads no sweat. New stuff, I want the disc.marinevetstlA lot of UK has reasonable broadband, the price as well is lower and highly competitive. There's huge funding going into improving areas of Britain but not as much as is required but can't help that too much. Still it's not crappy, better than a lot of places including USA, nowhere near as good as Korea and Japan though.
That's Canada, and nobody cares about Canada

The Canadian Mod takes note of this.
Becuase its already a major success on the PC, its just a matter of time until all platforms switch to digital.
As in, 175Gb download limit? To be honest while it may be more than enough, after going unlimited I don't know how well I would manage with a DL limit, if at all :P Some months I download loads of movies (almost always 1080p Blurat rips which can go anywhere from 6GB to 12GB depending on the movie) so I don't know how well I could manage... probably would be more than enough but still :P A funny thing is that here in Portugal ever since one of the ISP providers "came up" with the unlimited DL thing, all the ISP adopted it pretty quickly, and gave up on the packages with DL limits for good. Every internet service (unless it's a mobile net) now doesn't have any sort of DL limit, which is pretty sweet on their part. I can go through 175Gb in a few days.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]
I have a 175gb connection (soon to be 250gb) in Ontario, and I manage just fine. If you are a regular internet/DD-user, it's unlikely you will be going for the cheapest ISP offerings, anywhere.

I'd much prefer unlimited, but it simply isn't offered. Although you can use as much bandwidth as you like, and simply pay the overage charges, which are capped. Cogeco does not cut you off.
I consistently download my shows and movies in HD as well. I regularly get up to, and sometimes over, my limit. It sucks :P
Ah yes, when I was a little kid I had something similar (well before the unlimited generosity).. and I tell you man, hell hath no fury like a parent with an unexpected EXPENSIVE EXTRA bill xDD Damn DL cap lol XD
Desmonic
I don't mind paying the overages, though they have become worse since the upgraded plans. They now charge $2.50 per gigabyte and the cap is $75 (bringing the plan to $165). If I go over, I have no issues paying, though. I don't tend to use my cable-box for anything now, as all my TV shows are stored on my hard drives :P
Really? Well.. I honestly don't know how much I spend since I'm pretty inconsistent and never really did bother counting how much I download :P But I imagine you download loads of games and movies then, no? I used to. I had a stupidly fast connection and a low of space and time to fill :P I don't download so much now, for obvious reasons.[QUOTE="clyde46"] I can go through 175Gb in a few days.Desmonic
Sure it isn't meant for everybody, but with my 100 Mbps connection I can dl each game much faster than going out and buying them. Only problem I have is that they are ussually more expensive than getting (and importing) retail copies which is a shame
Yeah, I can easily see myself in the future (when I depend only on myself. For now I'm still lucky enough to have my parent pay most of my stuff and living with them) just getting basic cable (which is free and consists of 4 public channels to keep up the news, watch the random movie and one or two decent shows) and just paying the internet. I mean, the faster and the more reliable the internet gets the easier it is to simply download all your favourite shows, movies and music. And in some cases just watch them online (for example the South Park series allows you to see every single episode on their website in HD). Although, if you don't have a DL limit I can see how that may be problematic :P

I love this new age. My most hated TV creation... Adverts :x The internet really helps :P

Well, now that I think of it, when I downloaded the ultimate LoTR trilogy (the 4 hour edition of each movie in 1080p) it was almost 100Gb, so that with a couple of games and movies would easily fill up the 175Gb limit :P Still I doubt I personally download that much every month. I'm sure some months I actually do more, but most months I probably don't get even close lol :P I also have that :P I blame my seedbox.

Its not that movie. Its an anime that people really, really want to watch. Oh, my bad. I thought you were still referring to those movies :P But then again, 12.27GB wouldn't be enough even for one of them. Anyway, that is probably the most uploaded file I've ever seen by a single user :o 37.50 f*cking TB XDD The movie is either reeeeeeaaaally good or has some pretty well drawn girls *ifyouknowwhatImean.jpg* And I'm not even registered with that tracker![QUOTE="clyde46"][QUOTE="Desmonic"] :o Dat ratio! Seriously, holy sh*t XD Did not know those versions of the movies were that popular!

I'm talking personally. Teksavvy is not offered in my area.
If you're in Ontario... and you seem to be with Rogers/Bell then most probably Teksavvy is available. Heck even Acanac.

Cogeco. Niagara-On-The-Lake. We don't even have Bell, or Rogers.
I have never heard of Acanac, but they are supposedly available. I shall look into them.
Canada also has legislation in place that supports those limits IIRC. The U.S can move in that direction, but it would never get that bad because the backlash would force ISPs to back the hell off.
[QUOTE="fernandmondego_"]DD and streaming. I get 75MB for 39.99 US and no caps (used to be 50MB for 29.99). I don't think anyone in the US has caps.Vari3ty
ATT does. 150 GB cap normal, 250 GB for Universe TV subscribers.
I have Uverse and didn't know that. Between my roommates and I, we have to be pushing it. Constant Netflix streaming, youtube, and game downloads.. yikes.

Sweet. Thanks :D
NOTL was brutal for a long time with getting internet out this way. Cogeco only brought their "Ultimate" packages out this way, in 2011.
