How do you feel about paying for virtual clothing on XBL and PSN? *56k*

Now, I'm usually fine with microtransactions. Do I personally like them? No. But do I have to buy them? No. I didn't like the expensive downloads in Home, and I certainly don't like them here, but I can't complain since I don't actually have to purchase these digital pieces of clothing. Well, I just got into the new update on XBL and found some of it a bit ridiculous. As I said, I'm not against the thought of it, as I can just skip it, but why is everything so expensive in Home and now on XBL? Most of it is just helping advertise products of those companies.

Now, 80pts, you may say that's not bad, but things go over 200pts. I just think that's kind of a raw deal. It looks like I'll remain very vanilla on XBL and PSN. :(

Even though I'm not getting hardly anything unless it's free, I can definitely see this making a lot of $ w/ casuals

they make it so we can customize ourselves but they charge us to do it, i think thats kinda BSy i think they should be stoked that we actually want to take the time to customize these guys

Meh its not bad if its cheap. Also its nice that some games would unlock cloths/items if you did certain things. Like I unlocked the cole outfit from infamous for either beating the game or getting certain amount of trophies. Im not sure,but its a cool gift. I also unlocked some retro stuff like a dig dug foe while playing the namco arcade demo. Also the RE5 action figures. Things like that is very nice to have. Hell i even did a slot machine thing to get soda cans with some girls from a japanese psp game printed on them. THe only thing I bought with actually money was ninja golves and a vega mask. Now im a chubby cole with a pony tail,headphones,ninja gloves and a vega mask.

I think it's pretty weak...When you buy a game it should include game specific outfits/themes..

i feel good not paying for them i like the unlockables tho

I wouldn't buy clothing, I spend very little time on the dashboard anyway.

I will never buy gamerpics and themes again and will not EVER buy digital clothes for my avatar. If they are free ones or ones thats are unlocked in games then thats fine. But paying for them? STFU and GTFO MS!

I had just over a dollar left in my PSN wallet and thought I would buy a suit for my HOME avatar

Lets just say that was the first and last piece of "virtual clothing" I will ever buy

I'm cool with it.... I'm not forced to buy it... and if others want to buy it, then why should I care?

I won't purchase any of it.... I'll stick to the clothing/accessories that I unlock via playing games.

Pretty soon it'll be 10pts to load a game.

How do I feel? Personally, I think it is quite ridiculous. Like you said though, it is merely an option that is available for those who are into the whole avatar thing. So, whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Avatars in general are a completely useless feature from my perspective, though. I just use my consoles for gaming, an occasional movie and sometimes to listen to music. Nothing more, nothing less. Fiddling around with a little virtual version of me and buying clothes for it with REAL MONEY is something that I just do not find very appealing, lol.

It's unbelievably stupid. On one hand the XBL avatars that already have a decent selection of free clothing and the ability to unlock new items through achievements is coming, so god knows why MS thinks people will pay for anything on the avatar marketplace. On the other you have PSN/Home, which has such an awful default selection that you won't bother buying anything out of sheer principle.

Why either company would risk the bad PR for what I can only assume is very little revenue is beyond me.

I just signed up for the preview. I'm pretty sure you still can.

That money can be better spent on add-ons and downloadable games. I'm a little guilty of supporting it though since I bought costumes for LBP and I'm contemplating on picking up the ICO set.

I dont mind this kind of dlc/microtransactions (I WOULD NEVER BUY IT!) because its not as if it really affects the games we play. As much as people defend it, when a dev releases map packs (that you have to pay for) it really effs up the community and you sometimes have to buy it if its a big game as you knoe every one else will pretty much.

But yeah, the clothes look pretty crappy, i dont see many people shelling out for them.
