What's the precedence for this?
Did Xenoblade spectacularly bomb?
We are talking about a Nintendo published title. Every developer in Japan wishes Nintendo backed them up. Of course as I said I think it depends on the platform's health at the time of release.
Slashkice
Nintendo published Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge too, and I didn't see it lighting up the charts. The Wii U's install base is a far cry from the Wii - combine that with a niche title like Bayonetta and you have a recipe for a bomb.
Game sales aren't proportional to install base. Prime 3 sold less than Prime 1. Wind Waker outsold Skyward Sword by a good margin. (please don't give me the Wii is casual argument, TP is the second best selling Zelda).Â
It's about attracting the userbase that are into those types of games with similar, system selling ones. Retro's core game for example could draw that audience in, who would be in the market for a 3D action game made by Platinum.
You are comparing NG3 with Bayo 2 :P? That game is a stealth release in comparison to what they're gonna do with Bayo 2.
