I really don't know. I hope it does well though. :l If I had a Wii-U I'd probably buy it day one.

timmy00

I'm buying one just because of it.

I'm seriously considering it too. But hey, I might just buy a Wii-U so I can play it and the other new Platinum game. It'll be worth it. >.>

$400 for two games?

[QUOTE="DropsofJupiter"]It will sell a million or so copies worldwide. Which is respectable, and in line with the first game.Vatusus

1 million? on the WiiU alone?

I dont even think NSMB U sold a million yet, let alone Bayonetta 2 that barely break one million on 2 platforms with a way bigger install base

NSMBU sold around 2 million.

That proves nothing. Heck even he makes it sound possible.

That sounds possible?

Well, MS also published both NG2 and ME1 and supposedly they could never come to the PS3... guess they were wrong :\

You're not saying anything new. Many things are possible, the fact that something is possible doesn't prove anything either.

In terms of likeliness though, it's extremely unlikely.

We'll tell that to ourselves while we dish out $350 for a Platinum game >_> /devoted.

I'm sure I can find other games to justify the purchase :P I'm interested in Zombi-U despite the mediocre scores. Scores never stopped me before. Plus a few other games. The Platinum games would be the breaking point though. ;-;

Weird. Didn't Sega once publish their own titles? Bread_or_Decide
They do, but they refused to even publish Bayonetta 2 due to financial reasons (they had losses around then), which is one of the reasons Nintendo picked it up.

Nintendo will push it marketing wise, however it depends on how healthy the platform is at the time of release.

It's too early to tell.

They should be able to create a "core" fanbase with Retro's game, Wonderful101, 3D Mario, WW HD and future prospects shown at E3 such as Smash and Xenoblade 2. It has potential to sell.

Well they got a sale from me for the most part.

Overall though it won't be too flattering. The install base is small as of now, but maybe that may change by the time of its release.

The game has an insane attach rate. People who bought Wii U got the game basically :P

I think this is the key indication why Wii U will survive. 1st party software simply sells even though the install base is low: see Gamecube.

Consider this: Wii U already has 2 games that outsold the best selling Vita title (worldwide).

If Nintendo says so. Sounds possible to me. Nintendo could, at any time, free them to find another publisher and put it on other systems. Yes, any thing is possible as long as they don't own platinum games.

What's the precedence for this?

Did Xenoblade spectacularly bomb?

We are talking about a Nintendo published title. Every developer in Japan wishes Nintendo backed them up. Of course as I said I think it depends on the platform's health at the time of release.

I think it will sell slightly worse than the PS3 or 360 version. It was only 1 million combined on those two so probably like 250-400k after a year on WiiU. If MGR is a massive huge ridiculous sales smash, maybe that will help it out as they can throw "From the makers of Metal Gear Rising" on the box or something.

Then again, Sony was just barely into the gaming market at the time and Final Fantasy VII did wonders for the PlayStation. Who knows...

Bingo.

The difference is that EA was the one who ended up publishing ME1 for the PS3. EA didn't buy Bioware until a month before ME1 was released. In Bayonetta 2's case, is that the publisher refused to pick up the tab for Platinum. Nintendo swooped in and gave Platinum an empty check in exchange for the game being Wii U exclusive. If the game sells poorly, that's Nintendo's problem. All the developers end up with is a solid paycheck.

7 did so well because it was one of the first games to use CGI and that blew everyone minds at the time, Bayonetta apart from being made from the guy who did Devil may cry doesn't really have anything else going for it. It was a great game but ehhh I hope they market it.

Just saying, sequels can sell well even if said consoles never had the past games before (though I still have my doubts on it selling well).

Not denying that, but Final Fantasy has a name going for itself. Bayonetta is quite the niche title, not to mention a very young IP.

Nintendo published Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge too, and I didn't see it lighting up the charts. The Wii U's install base is a far cry from the Wii - combine that with a niche title like Bayonetta and you have a recipe for a bomb.

Razor's Edge bombed because NG3 sucked. Word of mouth spread and people are refusing to give such a game a second chance. Tecmo Koei picked up the tabs for the PS360 port. The only thing Nintendo bought was a timed exclusive.

I think sales wise it's gonna do bad. Being limited to one platform and especially the WiiU is not gonna help.

Score wise it will do well

Why should we care? It's Nintendo's money, and they'll be the ones picking up the loss, rather than Sega. Between MKWii, NSMBW, and Wii sales, I think Nintendo can afford to take the initial loss for long term sales.

Game sales aren't proportional to install base. Prime 3 sold less than Prime 1. Wind Waker outsold Skyward Sword by a good margin. (please don't give me the Wii is casual argument, TP is the second best selling Zelda).

It's about attracting the userbase that are into those types of games with similar, system selling ones. Retro's core game for example could draw that audience in, who would be in the market for a 3D action game made by Platinum.

You are comparing NG3 with Bayo 2 :P? That game is a stealth release in comparison to what they're gonna do with Bayo 2.

How did Xenoblade do in NA? Also one of the biggest obsticles is Nintendo's audience itself, they are only interested in mario and zelda and will ignore the game.

It bombed before the PS360 ports were announced. Anyways, the point is Nintendo doesn't have the Midas touch as a publisher.

Ninja Gaiden 3 was released in March and the game critically bombed. Razor's Edge was an enhanced port of the same game, with likely the same issues. Would you buy such a game on a vague promise of being improved?

Well, considering there isn't jack or sh!t for games on the wiiu and nothing worth a damn is coming out for who knows how long it might actually have a chance to sell a decent amount of copies. I'd suspect maybe over a million, but I'm continually finding myself being wrong about things of this sort.

I'll be purchasing Bayonetta 2 as #1 is one of the most epic games ever created. Day frigging 'ONE'!!!

The next game to be released by platinum will be a sequel to Vanquish or even Madworld.

So much port begging its unreal... Reminds me of the MH Tri U Topic i created.

How did Xenoblade do in NA? Also one of the biggest obsticles is Nintendo's audience itself, they are only interested in mario and zelda and will ignore the game.

Xenoblade did very well despite 2012 release. Officially we can only look at its high position and hold on NPD, but according to VGC it did 400k in NA.

The fact that Nintendo had X as its ace card in the Nintendo Direct Wii U Panic Mode Edition speaks volumes to me. They seem to be very pleased with the sales.

500k first month, with a steady 25-50k per month. The game will have legs, and it might eventually top out around 1 or 2 million.

500k - 1 million worldwide. MercenaryMafia

I would be conservative at this point and say 350k - 800k

If WiiU continues to struggle, not well.

Probably worst after PG announces PS4/720 versions for it.
