Really? Thats why people with 8800 from 06 still runs games high-maxed in REAL HD right?

wow! i didn't know you could play PC games with just a graphics card.

is that y console gamers ALWAYS leave out buying a hdtv when comparing prices ?

that's the most ridiculous comeback i've ever heard. first off, SD or HD, pretty much most of the civilized world already own at least one TV. secondly, a console will run its games out-of-box. the TC has totally left out Case, Processor, Drive, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, OS. i.e. THE ENTIRE REST OF THE FREAKIN' PC. so don't even counter with that.

***edited - i put monitor in there twice.

Dude you happy.....?

GIGABYTE 8800 GT $180

2GB G.Skill Memory $44

DFI BloodIron P35 Motherboard $120

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 $140

Seagate 250gb Hard Drive $65

CD/DVD Drive $18

Cases go anywhere from $20-100+ (Its all about preference)

LOGISYS 650w Power Supply $65 (Has good customer reviews)

Total: $686 (excluding case, like I said ranges anywhere from $20-90+)

These parts were taken from Newegg.com

This will run every game except Crysis at max 60fps

PC gamers can overclock GPUs, put multiple GPUs in, buy new GPUs, not buy new GPUs, switch manufacturer, have ultimate freedom to kick the *** of any console game if the gamer chooses to. Console gamers do not.

Also, I believe atleast PC games can be played in real high definition unlike console games that are upscaled with fixed framerates and aweful jaggies. When i look at cod4 on the 360 and look back at the PC it pains me to see people throwing £40 away not even considering that the console version is vastly inferior.

I've played COD 4 on my bro's 360 once, in 600p it had so many jaggies and a bad framerate

Ok whatever you say buddy, you keep believeing yourself there.

To mudman: why not? with a linux installed the PS3 has firefox for any internet use you may have/need, can run almost every software you use on Windows (or open source counterparts like OpenOffice, yet the results are the same), and if you like Windows too much you just emulate it. That sounds like a perfect computer to me. As far as game goes, you got a gaming console, and you can also play emulated games on linux. In fact, when someone finally gets access to the RSX from linux, we could even play PC games with emulation (with some performance issues sadly, yet you save yourself a lot, in fact, a LOT, of money, and you can always tweak the game to run properly).SambaLele

the Lack of Ram criples the Linux running on the PS3....even the most basic programs have problems.

so their is no chance of any emulation running well...let alone any game, when even flash based programs have trenmendous amounts of lag and problems.

Totally indifferent, because i can play Alan Wake, Fallout 3, Project Offset on my 360

and PC does not have Fable 2, Too Human, Ninja Gadien 2, Lost odyssey, Cry On, infinite Undisocovery

With 360 i have all the best looking games, with PC half

So why would i care if PC gets a card 1000x faster, when PC gamers get the power, and i get ALL the best looking games ????

Painballz

Project Offset isn't coming to 360 since Intel bought the company.

Also will any of those sub par titles run in HD? Or just 600p? (lawlz)

Alan Wake and Fallout 3 will look way better on PC.

A X1900 can only get you so far, consoles don't magically get stronger

You must hate Fallout, baldurs gate, starcraft, half life and warcraft then as none of these games have any great graphics anymore.

Intel did buy Project Offset, but they NEVER said 360 version is cancelled !!!!

Also Alan Wake developers confirmed that 360 version will look nearly as good as the maxed PC version

Intel will not allow and XBOX to slow down this graphical beast coming, By the looks PO will have better graphics than Crysis since Intel is running the show. 360 wouldn't stand a chance in running it

Time will tell.

I'm not a hardcore PC backer and while I do support both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 I find it interesting that many 360 and PS3 owners bash Wii owners for outdated technology.

Yet my garbage computer that I got before the 360 and PS3 came out can run both Call of Duty 4 and The Elder Scrolls IV at recommended settings. Two of the games that 360 and PS3 only owners like to use to bash Wii for outdated technology.

lol, yup...I agree

wow, i didn't realize that you can play games with only a video card:roll:

you should consider that console games are designed for one specific hardware while pc games are designed to run on thousands of possible configurations.

When it comes to PC gaming, one of the biggest misconceptions is that it's ridiculously expensive and console gaming is just soooo much cheaper. This is complete BS. I'm not talking about console gamers leaving out the fact that they have to buy an hdtv too, because PC gamers still have to buy monitor, KB/M etc. The biggest thing console gamers conveniently leave out is just how limited their consoles are. When you by a gaming PC, you are buying much more than a game machine. When you buy a console, you are getting a game machine. So, after buying your incredibly cheap $400 console, you very quickly realize that you can't get online to gamespot's system wars forum and spout off how great it is and how much money you saved. So now what do you do, you go out and buy a $400-600 PC. Guess what, you're at $1000 now. Given the choice, I'll take a $1000 PC over a $400 console + $600 PC ANY **** DAY OF THE WEEK.

Still $230 more than what you can get with a console, and secondly you go and buy that 650w power supply for $65 we will see how good it really is down the road. When it comes to cases it is very important, you have to think about air flow and alot of factors are involved to, and if you want a decent case and not a cheap one you sure as hell aren't spending $20 on one.

Dude you are a fruit loop, everything that you have posted today has been a joke. Bottom line is you need a rig that cost that much more than the 360 or the ps3 just so you can own that card. If you want we can go on new egg and price out a computer to build with that video card and I guarantee that it will cost more than any console out right now.

You do know PC's can do more than just game, right?

Yes but for the matter of this discussion and what you are started it on is based on video gaming and if you are going to build a rig you aren't going to build a mediocre system just to prove a point and even if it is a real low end you are still spending $600 and above.

If you know anything about building computers you would know that having a good power supply means a lot, ecspecially even if you are going to use it more than just for gaming. Hence why when people buy cases they usually don't use the power supply that came with it because they are junk half the time.

Painballz

People that says gaming PC's are expensive don't know anything about.

PRICES HAVE DROPPED TREMENDOUSLY.

Man it doesn't matter if they have dropped or not it still cost more money to build a pc, why can't you get that across your head.

Why don't YOU UNDERSTAND???

PC's can be used as Home Theatre Sytems, for Work base, for gaming, for everything basically.

All a console does is play games.

Hence why people buy a console, are you serious right now???? Please tell me you are joking. "All a console does is play games" ya thats what they are made for and thats the consumer base that it is marketed too and buy for gaming! wow just wow.

22" LG Monitor - 270$

Dell Vostro 1500 w/8600m GT, 2GB Ram, 1.4 Ghz Dual Core - 940$

Then have a Gaming Rig. WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU!? It means this 9 pages means nothing. On my 360 I play Guitar Hero, Devil May Cry 4, Army Of Two, Forza and many more. Get me those games on PC oh wait im sorry you can't. I enjoy my Console and there is nothing you can say or do about it.

Of COURSE it cost more, THE PARTS ARE WAY STRONGER THAN YOUR CONSOLE PARTS

Example: When the 360 and PS3 came out, they were already outdated in the PC world.

Ya so whats your point?!?!? The graphics and the performance of games on consoles are up to par with a good portion of current games out there, and there are a few exceptions where that is not true. The bottom line is that people buy a console for convience, and price. It really doesn't get anymore involved than that. If computers where easy to build for people and at consoles prices, people wouldn't even be bothering with consoles period. There are some points I agree with and some I don't, the bottom line is that it is more expensive and always will be more expensive to game on pc's no matter which way you slice it. The rig you just posted in this topic is outdated as well! As far for gaming is concerned pc's get outdated much faster than consoles do.

Nothing? I got a new normal desktop PC last year with my homeschool program... Just a normal computer that anyone would get.

It has a x1300, 1gb of RAM, and a Pentium D 3.0ghz.

It struggles to run even the simplist of new games.

My online games are.. Ghost Recon AW 2, Call Of Duty 3, Call Of Duty 4, Crackdown, Halo 3, Call Of Duty 4, Orange Box, gears and Army Of Two.

GRAW2 is old and only play with some friends not fun anymore. Call Of Duty 3 always has people on, Call of Duty 4 has a large community, Crackdown was bought to play with a couple of friends, Halo 3 large community, Team Fortress always has servers up, Gears is still decent even tho i don't play often anymore and Army Of Two I can always find a room to play in.

How does it feel to have games that look just as good come out on consoles first....(ports)

How does it feel to have to regulary update your PC system to keep up with games? MORE MONEY? YES OH YES!

how does it feel to have to optimizing settings for certain machines to better run the game?

How does it feel not to be able to pop in and play?

how does it feel not to get some of the best exclusives ONLY consoles have?

how does it feel knowing PC isn't soley built for games?

..???

cobrax25

Regularly Update? I havent upgraded my PC in 1.5 years and it runs every game maxed 4xaa 8af at 1680x1050 60 fps +

Except for the only game that actually took graphics to a new level. Crysis.

Pc graphics improvement has never been so slow.

2 years after Xbox launched, pc had a bunch of games that could crush xbox graphics. This gen its only Crysis. No wonder the hardware is is running games maxed longer.

Is that why every multiplat looks better on the PC?

is that why if you look at the best looking games currently out or announced (Crysis, World In Conflict, Project offset, Farcry 2. Alan Wake...etc) they are all PC based.

Is that why out of the 5 games nominated for best 2007 graphics, 3 were PC only, and the other one has better graphics on the PC?)

None of the pc versions of multiplat games crush the 360. Have you played Assassins Creed on 360? I find it more impressive than anything on pc besides Crysis. I have an 8800gt so I've played every released pc game maxed.

1 year after xbox launched pc got NOLF2 and UT2k3. Those 2 games were way ahead of xbox graphics. Why? Beacause they were designed for high end pc's of the time. Look at Project Origin and UT3 both from the same dev teams and boths graphics are designed with consoles in mind.

Here we are 2 1/2 years after the 360 launch and the pc has only 1 game thats far and above 360's graphics and there still isnt even a graphics card out that can run Crysis well.

To the guy saying that linux on PS3 is rather limited: Yes, the lack of a video card is horrible. You can't use photoshop well, or any heavy graphics aplication. But it's a question of time until people breachs the limit to the RSX. About the RAM issue: man, the RAM is more than enough. The Processor almost streams information in real time from the XD-RAM, i think they probably used it's speed to compensate the small size. Anyway they did it, the result is i'm using my PS3 as my main PC for months and i've never had any RAM issues. Really.

Now it is. I also bought a PS3 for blu-ray.

It's practicle, it's less expensive, and it plays games smoothly with eye candy.

GT5 completely blows Crysis out of the water IMO.

the fact that COD4 on the 360 runs at a sub HD resolution and runs easily at native 1080p on a PC doesnt strike you as odd in any sort of way?

Thats why UT3 sucked and Epic started saying PC is dead because we don't to buy their console crap.

They shouldve kept Unreal Championship on consoles and Unreal Tournament on PC so we couldve had the true sequel to UT2K4

How does it feel to have games that look just as good come out on consoles first....(ports)

How does it feel to have to regulary update your PC system to keep up with games? MORE MONEY? YES OH YES!

how does it feel to have to optimizing settings for certain machines to better run the game?

How does it feel not to be able to pop in and play?

how does it feel not to get some of the best exclusives ONLY consoles have?

how does it feel knowing PC isn't soley built for games?

..???

I have an 8800gt so I've played every released pc game maxed.

the fact that COD4 on the 360 runs at a sub HD resolution and runs easily at native 1080p on a PC doesnt strike you as odd in any sort of way?

It should

Not a lot better and find me a $400 prebuilt pc that can run it at 30+ fps with no aliasing.

Then why do games like FarCry, Oblivion, and Half Life 2. Look and run better than Assassins creed.. Terrible optmization.

Assassins Creed didn't run well, because of terrible programing.

The graphics were n64 and the game crashes were frequent.

Optimization is the reason I do not invest large sums of money on my PC.
