How exactly can you tell when a console is dying?

Where exactly are these "rules" you speak of written? Is it in the Troll Handbook which the rest of us don't have a copy of? Does that handbook also give directions on how to take statements out of context? ;)

Dying does not mean next gen comes out, it means when the maker stops supporting it. Sony still supported the PS2 after PS3 came out, so PS2 was not a dead console. MS stopped supporting the Xbox when 360 came out, that meant Xbox was a dead console.

The signs when a console is dying are when the console drops in price drastically and the maker stops releasing exclusives for it. Look at the Wii, it's a dead system now. 360 is on it's death bed, MS came out with the $100 model and we all know it's 1st party is a joke.

It sucks for lems though because they have to buy the next Xbox no matter what. MS does not support their system once a new one comes out. So they either have to buy the 720, or go to PS3.

This is why you should always go with PlayStation.

Sony continued to support the PS2 because it was a huge success. The same can't be said about the PS3. Don't expect the same support, from Sony OR third party publishers.
