it's plain stupidity thinking multiplats are better for pc gaming than pc port to console.[QUOTE="Rocker6"]

You didn't need to, I figured it out by myself. It goes like this:

Yes they do and you need to accept it's a fact of life.Consoles do not hold back PC gaming.

Largest number of exclusives = PC.
How exactly does the existence of consoles hold back the development of these exclusive games?
Think carefully before answering.

pc exclusives are low budget pieces of crap now because of consoles.Uuummm... isn't PC an OPEN PLATFORM? There's nothing to hold PC gaming back but the developers. Maybe if PC gamers would actually PAY FOR THE GAMES and stop trying to get them for FREE or dirt cheap, more developers would be making more quality games for that platform. I think many developers got tired of making all these GREAT PC games and then not getting much payment in return for all their hard work.

The answer to business questions can always be deduced by following the money: specifically, who is buying what?

1. The PC has the most exclusives...their quality has nothing to do with consoles. Buy these games.
2. The PC has many multiplats where development is done by platform and the PC version is not held back. You can also buy these games.
3. The PC has many multiplats where development is not done by platform. Don't buy these games and they will stop being made.
4. If you stop #3, there will be more of #1 and #2.
5. And the actual trends in gameplay, etc, or in your terms whether they are good or crap games, is driven by the sales figures for 1, 2, and 3. So good sales tend to be rewarded with sequels and copycats.
Ergo, PC gaming is succeeding, or not, solely based on the buying habits of PC gamers.

Sorry your incorrect, The sheer design and resource limits in console do affect what and how they create games and inturns affects what could have been if created on Pc.[QUOTE="SUD123456"][QUOTE="04dcarraher"] Multiplatform games designed around consoles do hold pc's back. The point being that the supply side of the market responds entirely to the demand side...meaning that PC gamer buying habits determine what games they get, not anything else.

Lol with out sconsoles Gaming would be much more of a niche. Kiss most of your big budget AAA multiplats good buy, because studios just plain wouldn't exist.

Pretty much this.
PC gaming was tiny and would have stayed tiny if it wasn't for the consoles and handhelds expanding the market. An expansion to the market brought more people into PC gaming, helping it grow.
I agree with Wasdie.
In the end PC helped console gaming and vice versa, without ether we wouldn't have the PC and console games we have today.
I would like to think the TC was talking about this gen when talking about consoles holding PC back, not the whole history of gaming.Sorry your incorrect, The sheer design and resource limits in console do affect what and how they create games and inturns affects what could have been if created on Pc.[QUOTE="04dcarraher"][QUOTE="SUD123456"]

Dont buy multiplats hows that an answer.. its not.... this generation we seen a massive multiplatform base grow to the point where they make up more then 3/4's of games with medium-big budgets being sold[QUOTE="SUD123456"][QUOTE="04dcarraher"] Sorry your incorrect, The sheer design and resource limits in console do affect what and how they create games and inturns affects what could have been if created on Pc.04dcarraher

I am not disagreeing that the success of multiplats in PC sales breeds more multiplats, which is why there are so many multiplats. Instead I am saying that PC gamers should blame themselves as it has nothing to do with consoles.
PC gamers blaming consoles is the equivalent of obese Americans blaming McDonalds for selling them fatty foods.
There are a ton of PC exclusives. I suggest buying them. Or buy the multiplats if they interest you, but then don't whine about consoles (not directed at you personally).

I think, the big exclusives that used to be on PC have moved to pastures new. Since the PC is an open platform, there isn't much in the form of control like there is on console. On consoles, they can restrict what you do and what you can play. What used to be free content turned into paid DLC because people paid for it. For console players, the idea of getting content after the release of a game was a new thing. To them,it didn't matter if they had to pay since they never really had the option in the first place. The idea that console games are holding back the PC is a silly notion. Consoles are the dominant force in gaming, they hold a massive numcial advantage over the PC so it makes sense for devs to make games that target that audience and that audience has access to limited hardware.I don't mind playing games that have designed for consoles, I get 60fps and KB/M support. What I don't like is paying £30 for a game that performs worse than its console counterpart.Very far.
Sounds like PC isn't the master race if it's at the mercy of consoles lol
