I seriously dont get it. You would think that people would need at least a yr break from the monotony.

It's because nobody else puts out an FPS with a competent (although way too short) single player campaign and a fully-fleshed out multiplayer. I don't buy the games, but for the people who like them, it's hard to blame them for continuing to buy them.
kids of course, kids falls for that crap
if parents would actually follow pegi ratings, call of duty would be no more.
well, kids I agree, but kids tend to play what their peers are playing, I doubt it's out of a lack of refined taste and more out of social concern
and, it's probably that mature rating too that draws kids, they always like acting older than they are that's just the nature of being a kid, listen to explicit lyric music, watch R-rated films, play M-rated games
CS GO still have 20 times more players than most modern FPS games, and its a re-skin of 1999 game, my opinion is: people are stupid
CS:GO is beast and very cheap with free maps added
Accessible, fun, instant gratification, all that good stuff.
There is our little bubble of gamers who enjoy a range of different types of games and have played enough games in general to the point that CoD is just "meh". We know that there are more satisfying experiences out there, or we have just moved past what CoD has to offer.
Then there is the rest of the world. People who don't give a shit what we think, people who don't have any vested interest in gaming beyond hopping online for some kills with the bros, or playing an "epic" single player campaign.
This is just reality. We're the gaming snobs with the sticks up our asses. We're the ones bitching on gaming forums about CoD while the majority of the CoD crowd doesn't even know we exist, nor do they give a **** about our opinions or the kinds of games we consider good.
People play it, enjoy it, get burned out on it, and the next drove of youngsters moves in, rinse and repeat. It'll be this way until the next big thing comes along.
It's definitely the social aspect. People's friends buy it so they buy it so they can play something with their friends.

the peers of kids are stil kids
and watching m and r rated films when being a kid, then we're talking about bad parenting. You're not going to tell me that a bunch of 9-15 years olds can spend 60 bucks withouth their parents knowing about it.
but images say more more than a thousand words
Of course it's not easy, my 10 year old nephew wants to play fallout 4, assassins creed unity, when he comes to visit, but I let him play lego, no matter what he plays with his friends. The problem is, when it's finished I need to buy another lego. But that 10$ every couple of months is only a small price to pay for his emotional well being.
Pegi ratings are made for a reason.
@commander: I really don't see it as bad parenting though, parental discretion as far as I see it. Kids can be exposed to worse on YouTube.
I ask that same question when i go to twitch TV and see people still playing counter strike, lmfao PC gamers
Now my point is, the answer to both is because the games are FUN! ya know, isnt that the point of why we are all playing games to begin with? having fun?
Now i havent played a CoD game in a long time, i actually bought black ops 3 then sold it a month later (good thing i broke even when i sold it) as i was playing too much Destiny (still playing it) so from now on i wont be buying or playing any other FPS other than Destiny but the point is the games are amazingly fun and each game literally provide months and years of enjoyment

yeah, it was in 2003, 2004, but its 2016 now

What about people who didn't play then it was a long time ago and what FPS game is better than that now?

Pokemon games are FUN too. Why are you skipping them?
I seriously dont get it. You would think that people would need at least a yr break from the monotony.
Why would you care? There are quite a few games from the 80's and 90's that I still play to this day. Monotony can still be fun, different strokes for different folks.

i was a CS player until 2005, in 2006 i started playing cod3 (not mw3) and BF2, and both were ages ahead of CS, than i started playing BF bad company 1, and never went back to COD, after that we got BFBC2, BF3, BF4, BF hardline, Titanfall, SW battlefront, all those games are much better than CS in every aspect you can imagine, your character in CS still hovers like a spaceship and there is no aim down sights, its a game that belongs in the early 2000's and cant compete with anything released after 2006
Because people want the same thing. Ultimately the vast majority of people don't want innovation, they want to be safe and choose what they know.
It's sad but true.

Yep this. People always want more installments in their favorite franchises. And who can blame them?

Fun to you and millions others, they arent even close to being fun to me, at least not anymore.
Same thing applies to CoD millions and millions find those games fun and play them every year plus new comers all the time while others do not find them fun like TC

A Sony label would solve everything, wouldn't you say? :D

No, they want the SAME thing in their new installments. No changes, no tweaks besides the most minor ones because it'll change what they know.
COD takes skill to be good at online. TW3, FO4 MGSV, ACS require no skill to complete. Who is the real casual here?
I've bought and played every single COD since COD4:Modern Warfare. I won't stop buying it either until they stop making it.
It's always pick up and play fun. I only play hardcore and no other FPS games compare to the COD hardcore experience. Most other FPS games enemies are too spongy. R6:Vegas and R6:siege are the closest you can get.
It's plays better than Battlefield when it comes to the movement, IMO battlefield feels too clunky and slow.
It gives me hours upon hours of entertainment via playing or meeting people and socializing. I've been playing with a lot of the same people I started playing COD with.
I don't understand the hate.
I don't understand how people can play single player anti social games with the evolution of online MP. I can't stand just sitting there playing damn near anything by myself. It's boring, gaming never intended to be the lame ass boring shut in's "hermits" if you will, as most every one on this site is. It was go to the arcade with your friends and play games and have fun socialize. The early consoles took that away then Dreamcast and MS brought it back via online MP on consoles and I've been greatful ever since!
