How is GTA King of open world?

Right now I'm playing through GTAV and I have to say that for every exciting mission it seems like there is one that is just annoying or not very fun. Granted, I'm not terribly far into the game, but it seems to me that there is a lot of padding in the game. For instance, the level where you need to scout out the Merryweather. It makes sense I guess that Trevor would have to perform those menial tasks in order to scout it out, but the act of driving a really slow moving crate hauler is not fun, period. Hell, I accidentally bumped into the corner of a building and had to start over from the beginning. And it was no more fun the second time.And how does shit like this make it king of open world games, exactly? And I'm talking the actual open world gameplay, not the production values which are admittedly impressive.

I loved exploring the maps of Morrowind, Skyrim, Fallout 3, New Vegas, etc.

Mainly because there was actual exploring to be done. Not this half assed shit like in GTA V where the exploration basically amounts to driving/flying to the top of Mt. Chiliad, looking at nothing but empty woods, then parachuting back down to the bottom.

Ok, so you didn't like it. How's that change my opinion? And learn how to fucking read, I wan't just talking about GTA 5, I said all of them.

My favourite mission has to be the one where you have to drive Trevor to the doctor when he gets shot and Trevor strangles the doctor so you have to go to another one, all without Trevor bleeding out.

there is always going to be problems with shit but i think the point of anyone claiming gta as the "king" would be maybe in the historical context of a game that came out and subsequently changed almost everything about gaming for the better.

gta 3 is an undeniable landmark in gaming.

and if you are old enough to have been gaming from before gta 3 was around and then afterwards you probably know exactly what i am talking about.

What?

He said "GTA games".

Well, GTA is a series is it not? And GTA V is a pretty significant installment in that series, is it not?

My opinion is the same for every GTA game. Games that all become incredibly repetitive once the main storyline is completed. Hell, they're repetitive even when playing the main storyline. "Drive from point A to point B, kill this guy, then drive back to point A". It's always been that way.
