If anything, the PS3 & the 360 have the exact same specs between each other. Only reason why 1st/2nd party games on the PS3 looked better than most games on the 360 was because that Sony's developers had more experience & talent in hardware than what MS does within their 1st/2nd party developers.
Its not more powerful, the only difference is that ps3 has blu-ray which hold more data and 360 has dvd which holds less data which results in multiple discs where as blu-ray holds everything in one disc. Its just a minor inconvenience for 360 users.

They don't have the same hardware so they can't have the same specs. A better way to phrase it is that they are basically equivalent in what they can do but there would always be some differences. How dare you ignore the power of the cell!:
lol i was wondering when someone would post that picIt's hilarious that people think they have the exact same capabilities. To my knowledge the PS3 is of a different architecture, no?

U2? LOL! What...Marcus Fenix vs. Bono?
yes, they have very different architecture, but their capabilities are still roughly the same. just a different means to the same endIt's hilarious that people think they have the exact same capabilities. To my knowledge the PS3 is of a different architecture, no?

Thanks, that's what I meant to say there. :)

LOL...a different disc format can't exactly help you get more better graphics in games. Just more space.
Cell. The xbox and PS3 have the same ram they are just divided differently, unless you are talking about the 10 extra MB. If you see the xbox 360 specs it say 500 million, while the RSX move just 275 million, almost almost half, the problem with this is that raw specs basically mean nothing, the xbox 360 GPU has to handle all on the xbox 360 basically, while Cell help the RSX in a huge way by taking work load out of it,the result is simple. Since the Xenos has to do all the muscle flexing on 360,it raw power gos down way down,if you remember the xbox was say to push 125 million polygons but with effects it was more like 30 million, that is a huge drop, because once AI,physics, effects and all that stuff is implemented, the polygons on the 360 go down,i would say probably lower than 200 million. On the other hand Cell is handling anything from post processing effects,to AA,AI and many other stuff that other wise would cripple the RSX even more,so the RSX can do more while Cell take care of the rest, that make the RSX navigate closer to its full raw power in theory.the xbox 360 has a better gpu, more vram, and can push more polygons

You're forgetting the 360 GPU also has that 10mb of edram at its disposal, and that the 360 GPU has access to the full ammount of ram in the 360 which the RSX doesnt.
So there's more trade off's that you failed to mention.

Actually i mention the 10 extra MB in my first line. But those extra 10 MB are not use for video, they are use for AA but they have a bottleneck which is the reason why some xbox 360 games don't even have AA,it was suppose to give the xbox 360 free 4XAA but it didn't because of Tiling,if i am not mistaken. If you just look the specs of the xbox 360 it should be giving much better looking games that the PS3,it doesn't because raw specs are just that one thing is theory and the other is practice. It's CPU power is greater so it is more powerful. Genesis also had a stronger CPU than the SNES so it was more powerful although the SNES had a way better graphics processor and better sound chip.
ps3's cpu = 400gflops
360's cpu= 50gflops
both consoles have 512mb of ram
360's gpu has an edge but not that much.
so ps3's cpu+gpu > 360's cpu+gpu

Basically this (as simple as you can put it for SW peeps).
There is a generation of gamers who are conditioned to think GPU > Memory > CPU.. but as the PS3is proving very well that thea processor can take most of the burden.
I find it hilarious that people say "teh cell" like it's a joke and the cell is not powerful YET!have no other reason why the PS3 can do the graphics it can.
Just finished up a few matches of halo reach. Came back to this discussion just to check up. Good to see we have finally settled this debate and that we can all officially agree that the ps3 is the more capable machine, based on the FACTS that it has produced the best looking games this gen.

This is a joke right? He has a point. Vanquish is one of the best shooters this gen. But I wouldn't really compare the two since they are totaly different.
Just got back from playing Crysis 2 for 360. Quick question, the game is stuttering a lot when the action heats up. Is this normal, or is my 360 about to Red Ring?

A few opinions one way or the other do not equate fact.Considering 'best looking game' is purely subjective in the first place I would argue the game where the most reviewers stated the game is the best looking console game available is relevant to the discussion. And in that case it's Crysis 2 on the Xbox 360.
