u can party up and do cross game chat... big woop, i can party up on a phone if i wanted to that bad for cross game chat. and apparently xbox live is waaaaay better than psn because u get updated vidoes of stuff like ign strategize... big deal, just use the internet for that... or even ps3's internet browser:P.

lemmings can defend their precious xbox live because they think its a "quality service". but its obviously a rip off.

it all comes down to playing games online and psn is just as good as xbox live, but its free.

I think everyone agrees it has an edge. But hardly anyone is saying it's an edge worth $60.

I cant believe Sony doesn't have cross game chat for the PS3. I don't know what i would do without cross game chat. It makes playing online a lot better being able to talk to friends on different games. All you people saying this is stupid or big woop are just straight up in denial or have no friends.

It's just better integrated with everything. On the PS3 you get most of the same functionality but it's layered on top or broken out in pieces. On the 360 it's just sort of there. I would argue that it's not worth $50 more than what the PS3 has, but it is better. Cross game chat also makes voice chat with Wii games possible, although you do have to juggle some cords to do so. But you can actually make Monster Hunter Tri playable!

Why does it bother you that it is constantly brought up? This is System Wars. What SHOULD we be talking about, if not the differences between the systems? And obviously Live vs PSN arguments are going to be even more prevalent when the status quo between them shifts, such as one getting a new feature, or a price change.

i wouldnt necesserily say live is better than psn, each one does different things better, The biggest difference between them and why people say live is better is just because i feel the xbox live is streamlined much better with the rest of the console

MS gets $50-$60 per year per every Master account on every 360 . The math is like 35,000,000+ x $60 = $2,100,000,000 every year for MS now. I would hope that a company that's getting over 2 billion annually could make their online service better.

This. Live is better because its of course had more time to develop everything. I personally believe the gap has been closing by a lot since the PSN's induction when the PS3 came out. Its not even yet, admittedly, but in time there will be a much closer quality on each system, and likely Microsoft will be forced to make Live free. MS is probably just milking for what they can now.

Whaaaat? If you're playing a game on Wii, you could use voice chat rooms on ps3 or vent or team speak on pc just as easily as using party chat on 360. The whole cross-game thing is only an advantage when you are playing a game on that system. When using it while playing another system, it doesn't matter if it's cross-game or not....

Fair enough. It was just my first choice as all my friends have 360s and the 360 uses less power than the PS3 when on (plus, my PC is in another room). As far as cross game benefits, I've used it many times while playing an RPG and chatting with a friend who's playing the same game or something else that's mindless in places. So we'd just ramble about movies or games or whatever while tapping A in Lost Odyssey, and that's pretty awesome.

Come on man, not another one of these. Just go try it out for a week on a friends console and you will SEE how its better. Someone just telling you wont matter. Just go try it. Is it worth $60? Thats up to the individual to decide.

there are some providers which let u talk for unlimited hours with someone who is with the same provider... so it wont be costing u anymore then what u pay for ur mobile plan anyways.. just saying... dont rip me apart!!

That's an alternative too, although I guess if people wanted to group chat while playing mindless games they could without paying a conference fee over the phone (my long distance plans suck too). I don't think it's worth what I pay, although so many more of my friends game on the 360 that I kind of have to pay for Gold.

I'd say it has an edge ONLY because it comes with mics. So more people to socialize with. If you want to chat with friends you have to have payed $60 for a mic AND you have to be playing the same game. I have both xbox live and psn and I have to say if you are social then xbox live is the better choice. Other than that it's the same.

again, why wouldn't I?

we sure as hell talked to eachother when we were kids playing videogames on the N64/PS2/PC, all in the same room. what's the difference here?

If I'm playing Halo, I'll talk to my friend, who is also my teammate, while being able to talk to my other friend(s) playing a different game.

If I'm not in party chat, my Mic, 95% of the time doesn't even get used. so I wouldn't be communicating with my team either way.

Live is slightly better than PSN, but not 60 bucks a year better.

Like LP from TECHNOBUFFALO said, "it's the very principle behind it, why should I pay for a service when I can get practically the same type of service for free...on the other platforms." And then he explains why most of his friends, who are both casual but at the same time enjoy a little online play on certain core games like MW, prefer the PS3 for the free PSN.

It's this very principle that disturbs Cows and PS3 owners (myself included) and provokes alot of them (myself included) to laugh their butts off about this greed infested service that Lemmings so proudly swear by

DLC and playing with friends is ALL you really need, right?

What could you possibly want more in a goddamn gaming service???

It has the party system, cross game chat which I still never found the use for, and it got better integration, the actual online play: the same. So it has an edge, definitely not a 60 dollar edge though.

so what you're saying is because you don't want to pay for something you'll bother other people that are ok with it?

Because if he was going to pay $300, he could have just gotten a PS3! (I kid, I just couldn't resist.)

I cant believe Sony doesn't have cross game chat for the PS3. I don't know what i would do without cross game chat. It makes playing online a lot better being able to talk to friends on different games. All you people saying this is stupid or big woop are just straight up in denial or have no friends.

babybinky

ever hear of a cell phone?? y would u want to talk to somone while playing different games n e way? wouldn't it mess up ur concentration unless your playing the same game together. u can still talk to friends on ps3 but if u think cross game chat is worth $60 then wow, cough cough fanboy

So your telling me your going to have 7 way phone calls all the time while your playing? That doesn't sound very practical

So you're telling me every time you play a game, you have 7-way party chats with buddies playing different games all the time while you are playing? I've had 3-4 person party chats over Vent while playing different games on pc. Mostly it just distracts me from the game I'm playing.

Yes a lot of the times my cousins will be in the party as well as my friends so thats 5-7 people total. I don't suffer from severe ADD so i can concentrate on my games while carrying on conversation also. Playing games in solitary confinement doesnt fly with me like some people.
