[QUOTE="dukenukemfoeva"][QUOTE="tomarlyn"] Whats that got to do with PSN?tomarlynyou can play play custom soundtracks while ur online on xbox live lOL. ......Yes.... ownage confirmed.....
that has nothing to do with xbox live or psn.... and if i wanna listen to music while playing a game i can simply play music off a stereo or computer..
i still don't have an answer as to why xbox live is that much better than psn... i think its confirmed that xbox live is a rip off

Semi-smart is being nice. I love me some firefight, but the AI is questionable at best. I usually play it because it's fun with friends to dominate.
is the A.I. dumbed down on fire fight?
Yeah, partially because you are fighting so many enemies, but also to make it bearable I think.

I'm not sure what you're responding to, I was just pointing out that MS rules their online service with an iron fist which can be ridiculous at times, but in reality benefits the user in the end with a streamlined service that's at the core of everything on the system, and this started the day the 360 released. It's the reason that they sold so many systems this gen and the reason why people are willing to cough up money for the service and the system. I mean if the tables were turned and MS started the way sony did, but without exclusives, they would be dead in the water playing catchup to PSN, but it's not. Sony has it's namesake and tons of great exclusives to boost themselves up, an then upgraded PSN as they went. It's just two different strategies.
tempest91
I disagree. I don't see how xbl is any more streamlined then psn. In reality I haven't used xbl, but the people that I know have both say psn is just as good and it's free. I really don't care if someone says they prefer xbl to psn, just as long as they really mean it and aren't trying to justify shelling out 50+ a year. (as I see people doing quite often.) I will ask you how speciffically is xbl better at some things than psn.
For one, much faster downloads. I know I don't have the fastest internet (12-16MB per second), but I had to wait over an hour twice for large patches and installs, (UC2 and MLB 10 the show). I would pay to have faster downloads on PSN as I often buy games I'm really pumped about, just to have to wait to play them or skip patches and risk bugs (GOW collection wouldn't play on my PS3 without them, 40 mins or so for patches.) Also, not all games have trophies, and I'm not going to sit here and say that trophies/achievements are the best and that the earlier achiemements were great, but playing MGS4 as my second PS3 game, which i like alright, and not getting those for it was a letdown for me as that is the type of game I would have replayed just to platinum if I could. Also, bluetooth for headsets. Don't even get me started on how much I dislike blue-tooth and am now using a USB corded headset. Live, from day 1, has had faster downloads, full achievement support and sharing without manual syncing or anything. I just put the game in, maybe have an updated that takes 30 seconds for most patches, and at the very most 20 mins for a large map pack, then play. All my achievements sync without issue, I can talk to my friends privately or in a party without anything else. No phone, no computer, just a nice wireless headset and party chat. ALl of those make for a very convenient and easy to use experience and they have been there since day one. The PS3 is like, buy a game, put it in, hope there isn't a PSN update, download a 30min to 60 min patch, (with some exceptions), possibly get trophies, possibly not, get done, manually sync them. My friends on and I want to tell him how sweet the game I just got is while he's playing KZ2, I can't without leaving the game or calling him. It's all just a hassle. I know this all seems like nit-picking, but for a person that doesn't have a ton of time, and also wants things to work, live is simpler, faster, and easier to use. But hey, that's just me I guess.
I appreciate the input, And I agree on the (somewhat) faster downloads, I have never. Ever had to wait 30-60 minutes for a patch. 15 mins at the most. Either you don't have s ps3 or you'd best be getting some roadrunner ASAP. Headsets are a moot point because I use an Astro A30 headset on my ps3 so I have no need for those silly headsets. You are milking the patches / download speed to the highest degree like another person on here I know... It simply is just you. Hope I don't sound like an *** but these are certainly your issues only. Psn has a chatroom, soo.... I think these are your experiences, or your lying. I'd much prefer saving 50 or more of my hard earned dollars as opposed to having some cross - game chat. Don't even mention netflix, facebook, twitter blah blah blah. (not saying you would mention them, but if you were) Ps3 has netflix, and some say it's better than xbl's. If I cared about all those social sites I'd get on my pc. I don't care about trophies, they are just a bonus. I play games for the game, not achievements. Guess it's just you.

theuncharted34
Just so you know, I'm not milking the download speeds at all, it's well known that PSN has slower downloading for patches than XBL or any PC service like steam.

You can spin it all you want, but this is not an isolated problem and I can't get roadrunner where I live, I'm stuck with Millenium cable 16MB which is usually around 12 on speedtest. I have an awesome router and modem with all the correct ports open. Seriously, I would pay money for the speeds to be faster, trust me on this. I shouldn't have to get a 30MB ISP to overcompensate for their server speeds either as my steam and XBL speeds are more than adequate. My PSN ID is stats91 if you want to check, although I haven't synced my trophies in a bit, so my most recent games won't be on there. To answer your question about bluetooth as simply as possibly, the headsets are really small and finicky for the most part, and the connection is meh at best. I wear a $150 set for work, so maybe I just hate it for that, but nevertheless, i've never liked bluetooth for anything and cringed when sony announced it for their console, not to mention I used a harmony remote and have to buy a special adapter for the PS3 to operate bluray functions or netflix without the DS3, so basically I don't use it for that unless I have to. The 360 has IF which works with any harmony. I'm just telling you the truth, and it's not just me. People who actually have both systems and have used live and PSN can tell you the difference. I suggest you try it for yourself before dismissing it, but if you don't want to that's your prerogative. I will continue to enjoy some great exclusives on the PS3, but multiplats, netflix, and any other functions are reserved for my stand-alone bluray player or 360.
People always have this misconception that if something cost more then it must be better, but we all know that is not the case with PSN vs Xbox Live.

online gaming only needs 1 thing: to play games online... xbox live has all these little features that r just unecessary and certainly not worth $60. psn plays game online for free and has a great online store. with xbox live your pretty much forced to pay to play online, and just because its costs $60 doesn't make it better, microsoft is just a greedy company.[QUOTE="lazerface216"][QUOTE="jakarai"]

NO.
...and you are right, sony are a good hearted company that only look out for the gamer's best interest. **** a profit.
From my blog............yet again :P
Ive seen this asked over and over on this site, so since i own both, i decided to list a few. But to fully understand, you have to experience it for yourself. So take this list, find a friend with a 360, and see for yourself.
1- cross game chat -this is more than it sounds. not only can you chat accross different games, but you can seamlessly create a party while in game, and switch from friends only chat, to chatting with people online, all without leaving the game
2- Custom soundtracks- this is the most misunderstood by fanboys. This feature is built into every game, and is built on the LIVE software that MS created. Meaning when i play a custom soundtrack on 360 (whether its from the hard drive, pc, or MP3 player) the game music, and ONLY the game music, stops playing. This doesnt happen with PS3. On 360, it only plays the sound effects and ambient sounds in the game, allowing me to hear my song. PS3 just plays the music (only dev supported) over my game sound.
3-In game access to everything- this is another misunderstood feature. With 360, if im playing a game, and i want to.....say play netflix. i dont have to go to the dashboard first, all i do is press the guide button, and click netflix. It stops my game and immediately plays. Or if im playing........say mass effect, and i wanna play Jade Empire that i downloaded. Same thing, just press the guide, and scroll to downloaded games. Its is nowhere NEAR as easy on PS3
4- Trueskill Ranking system- I cant count how many times i was playing warhawk when i first got it, and got beat like a runaway slave until i got the hang of it. Imagine going to the gym to play basketball, and everyday you had to play against Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Shaq!! Trueskill tracks your accomplishments ingame, and matches you with people on your level, making sure every experience is fair, and fun.
5 Intergration- Kinda speaks for itself. Basically my friends list follows me through every game. im even notified if a friend is playing the same game as me, and allows me to join the right then, no lobbies, menus, or anything. I can also check my achievements, friends achievements, and the profiles of the last 40 people ive played online at anytime, whether im watching a movie, netflix, playing a game, or whatever.
6-Cross game invites- no matter what im doing, i can invite a player to my game with the press of a button. No need to type a message like on PS3. I can also record voice messages to send to anyone ingame.
7-Server based system- the myth going on is that LIVE doesnt have dedicated servers. While this is mostly true, what people fail to realize is that EVERYTHING Live related IS kept on servers, servers that MS maintains. My friends lists, achievements (even my achievement progress), games played, and even my LOCATION or MODE in the game is tracked and displayed to my friends. Meaning i can check my friends profile (ingame if i choose) and see what area hes cruising in GTA iv, or the score in madden or NFL nk9, or the mode, map, and score in Halo 3.
There are many more, but like i said, go experience it for yourself.
I have no problem with paying for XBL. $60 is a chunk of change, but spread out over the course of a year it's peanuts. PSN is fine and I love that it's free, but I feel that XBL is just an all around smoother experience.getyeryayasout
I tried explaining this earlier, but some people don't enjoy the truth.
like i said earlier, live has a bunch of little additional features that r unnessesary. party/cross game chat, leave that for the phone. if im playing a game ill want to chat with the people im playing it with, not my friend whos playing a different game. soundtracks... well it has nothing to do with online play, but if i want i can just play music in a stereo system while playing a game. netflix, espn, ign strategize... w/e, if i wanna watch tv ill turn off the console with the pres of a button. if i wanna watch a movie ill pop in a dvd with the press of a button. i never heard of that trueskill, all i know is that halo reaches new ranking system SUCKS... u can invite ppl to games on psn too, might take an extra button to press but big woop. psn has good servers too... sooooo u fail sir. From my blog............yet again :P

I stopped reading after you talked about grouping up on a phone that is nuclear fail right there. Now i see you have never used xbox live i just dont care at this point i can get it for cheaper than retail like i do most games including collectors editions (which i usually buy) i just find it funny that cows after 5 years are still harping how great psn is which is NOT true get me updates that dont take long if i decide not to play the game for a month or get me demos for ALL my psn network games do that then we can talk until then i will payand you wont and we will both be happy

[QUOTE="Vipa37"]no i don't, and what does that have to do with the playstation network vs xbox live arguement?I have a better question for the TC do you even have a BC compatible PS3?
babybinky
Because i actually have one i seen the shape of the psn from its inception as the craptacular POS it was to what it is now which is amazing but still havent sorted out 3 issues that still keep it behind LIVE
1. Content
2. organization
3. How updates are applied to said games
I see you have never used LIVE cause if you did you would know why its better but like navyguy said you have to use it to understand. I mean sony created a new update system but you have to be a PSN+ member to get something that basically should have been included and deployed from the get go but hey have fun on the network that is slow as molasses for downloading patches and no demos for all games and having a history of messing up on their online cause the PSN servers couldnt handle the load (look up the modern warfare 2 fiasco or better yet the bad company 2 online issues) i just call it for what it is a patchwork of stuff that live has had since its inception and they are mad they cant charge for it
