how is xbox live that much better than psn?

I pay for Live not because I think its better than its competition but because I "have to" so I can play my games online. Really, that's everyone's main reason why they pay for live. If online multiplayer is available on Silver, nobody would pay for Gold.

lemmings can defend their precious xbox live because they think its a "quality service". but its obviously a rip off.

it all comes down to playing games online and psn is just as good as xbox live, but its free.

Sony would also weigh up those premium numbers with free users, they are last this gen, i doubt they'd want that again. They can offer it for free this gen and no doubt they'll offer it free next gen to try and combat Live.

I think cross game chat is one of the most useful feature out right now. The first thing I do every time I turn on my 360 is join my group of friends in a party and generally just chat. I know it doesn't sound l like a big of a deal to most people but if it was ever taken away from XBL it would make talking to my friends a lot more inconvenient.
