[QUOTE="AHUGECAT"]God of War set the precedent though. God of War is the best hack-n-slash game ever (well, 2nd best, next to Part II). Only problem is that they are too easy (even on God Mode), so hopefully III will be harder.

No it isn't. Devil May Cry set the bar, and further set it out of GoW's reach with DMC3. Plus, Ninja Gaiden stomps all over GoW.
The GoW games are good, but they are nothing worth writing home about. They are enjoyable for a single playthrough to get the story and taste of action... and that's about it.
Games weren't ripping off DMC left and right when it came out - God of War is better in every way (IMO). Now I love DMC (look at my avatar) but GOW is better. God of War games are an adrenaline rush that is fun from beginning to end. God of War III is the only game on the PS3 that I am actually jealous of.
With Ninja Gaiden, it has the same problem DMC (and many other Japanese slashers do) - bad camera angles. They fixed this in Black but I didn't play Black first. Yes they do require some skill but I still found them relatively easy, but GOW is by far the easiest even on God Mode.
Err yes, games WERE ripping of DMC left right and centre. DMC revolutionised hack and slash action adventure game with combos, cancelations, and air hanging. GOW gameplay is bogus compared to DMC3. You will always find insane combo videos of DMC, but never for GOW. DMC requires rediculous amount of skill in order to do variation of combos. Ninja Gaiden added fluidity to way the character moves.Camera is a minor problem in DMC and same with Ninja Gaiden. All you do in NG is reset the camera by clicking in one the analogs, same with DMC. I will give my hats off to GOW for its story and **** but DMC and NG are generations ahead of GOW in terms of gameplay.
