Considering how some people still game on there ps2's, I was on the hype wagon and sold my ps2 and all of my games for the ps3, when next gen comes out I plan on sticking with the ps3 untill it cuts it off... they still haven't fully cut off the ps2 yet, not really that excited for next gen systems, I will probably get a next gen system in the mid cycle of the console's life, or torwards the end.
I'm hoping Wii2/WiiHD come out this generation. As for next gen, idk. I'm never switching to Xbox unless Microsoft stops using such a dated method of online play (p2p). I might even get a PS3 this gen Unless Nintendo shows that they can keep up with technology (graphics, disc size).
I got the PS1, I got the PS2, I got the PS3 and had it stolen and plan to replace it. So far everything points to me getting a PS4 when it releases. If Nintendo makes their next system as powerful as Sony and Microsoft make theirs, I would really be interested in getting their next system as well. The Wii just isn't for me. Three major issues have to be addressed with Microsoft's next system in order to grab my attention. Games, hardware reliablility, and free online.
I'll probably get all platforms and upgrade my pc, like what i did last time, but anything can happen between now and the future.
Or maybe since they all dothe same thing (play games) and we have lifes outside gaming we only need the hundreds of games 1 console providesWell, since I'm an actual passionate gamer and not an internet fanboy, I own all current gen systems and will continue to purchase and support all platforms. Sorry if you're 15 or something and can't afford multiple systems

The 360 is losing its best 3 franchises almost certainly. Bungie is going, and Valve/Bioware are both developing multiplat now. So Halo is going (or it will be rubbish), Left For Dead will be multiplat, and Mass Effect will either finish with the third one, or the rest will also be multiplat. So what's left? Fable and Gears? Versus Infamous, LBP, MNR, Killzone, Resistance, MGS, The Last Guardian, Gran Tourismo, Motorstorm, Twisted Metal, R&C, Heavy Rain and more. I predict a lot of Xbots will get the next Sony system too, which will also mean we get multiplat support back (as we're starting to now).dkjestrup
Valve have never been exclusive to 360 and Left4Dead has always been multiplat.
My best bet is on Sony's next console, since I have PS1, PS2 and PS3.
Typically I wait out and see which system has the games. This gen I really really wanted a 360 since XBOX 1 was my favorite last gen, followed by GC. But after the RRODs, MP being too centric and Motion Sensing hype, I realized the PS3 was really a logical choice for me.
Next Gen, I'm likely to lean towards a PS4 and 3DS "Lite" (and PSP2, if Sony fixes this handheld problem)
But anything can happen.
I'm actually gonna stick with just ONE console next gen.
I've had enough with the crazyness of owning multiple consoles and handhelds this gen.
I'm no PC gamer, but I like what the XBOX360 is offering this gen, and the platform tends to have the "PC focus" games and genres I care about. So I'll likely go with MS.
As for handhelds, PSP was just a bad, imo. I just don't like the library, with the exception of a few.
So basically MS and Nintendo Handhelds for me :)
I would have chosen PS3 but I don't care for their 3D approach this gen. I don't care about the MOVE (or Kinect either), and some of their exclusives are not what I had expected to be. Some are good, but most are not fun or I just don't care for. Examples: inFamous, Ratchet and Clank series, Resistance 1 & 2, MGS4, and GT series. And God of War is just a snoozefest after 2. These games are some that I can't really get into (anymore, especially GT).

For crying out loud, you know I don't care about PC exclusives. Even as a PS3 user unlike most cows I consider PC/360 exclusives to be exclusives. Not multiplats. I don't care if "technically" it's a multiplat, because to me it's an exclusive. For Consoles I will have a Wii MK II and a PS4 (I had a 360 this gen but got rid of it and I want a PS3)
For Handhelds I will get a 3DS I have a DSi this gen.
Might skip the next generation of consoles - PC is more than enough. I already have a 360 and Wii with the PC and about 50 backlogged games I haven't touched - it will take me an entire generation to catch up.... Of course this could all changeI'll probably stay with a Playstation and then be done with gaming after next gen

If the Wii doesn't have your type of games then why not just sell it and/or buy the console that DOES have your type? What does NEXT gen have to do with it? Maybe making up your mind about which console too early is how you got in this mess in the first place?
Personally, I wait until actual information about the consoles and what games they have planned come out before making a choice.

I'll have to see the cost of each system, and more importantly the game and features of the console. This, though I probably won't go with Microsoft again. I can't be bothered to pay monthly. It's why I don't play MMOs.[QUOTE="pelvist"][QUOTE="dkjestrup"]The 360 is losing its best 3 franchises almost certainly. Bungie is going, and Valve/Bioware are both developing multiplat now. I have all the systems this gen and none are disapointing so I would just get what ever intrests me the most at the time
Probably the new xbox. Or the system which has anacctual controller and not a motion sensing crap gimmick.
probably sticking the xbox slim then wait for microsoft does next gen. i had a few ps3's but they just didn't have my type of games beyond the metal gear solid series anymore... (even with free online, all my friends play on live).
if nintendo makes an HD console with an improved online service i might take a look into that, but if its more motion control, i'll stick with kinect.
Definitley Sony Microsoft will probably release an console with no wifi and make you buy all the accersoires and their games will probably suck.
I started off with Microsoft this gen. At first I thought it was a good decision, as time went on, I jumped ship to PS3. Buying the 360 was a very big mistake which I will not make again until I see good reason to change my mind about Microsoft. Sony has shown me one thing, that no matter how bad things look (PS3 launch sucked and the 360 was a better choice till MGS4) they will always deliver in the end.
I switched in this gen. I originally bought a 360 and thought it was the **** then I got RROD, and my disc drive failed, so when I got to my 3rd 360. Sony started to come out with killer apps and I saw the games Wii had so I ditched 360 for PsWii. And as for next gen I'll never buy another Microsoft console again.
