Well you can in the description of the video i linked to which I recorded on my modest pc besides the cpu(5770 1G,3g of ram, and i7 920 2.66ghz) it has links to the user made map and custom config that i use that improves visual quality and performance well beyond what the Vannila settings enable me to do and thats all running in dx9 btw. and if you wrote that correctly you sit 8 yards from your tv! If this is true assuming 20/20 vision you would need a 83" t.v inorder to even get the full benefit of just 480p(740x480) let alone 720p which at that distance would reguire a t.v of 125+ inches which is projector territory at this point inorder to see the full benefit of 720p over 480p and for full benefit of 1080p over 720p you would need a 185" screen or bigger. I forgot to ask for screen sizes of your tv/monitor but I'm gonna to assume your not using a t.v anywhere near as big to take advantage of HD so its a bit unfair to compare console games from such a large distance where your eyes not only won't be able to pick up all the detial but any imperfections would disappear on a "small t.v" as opposed to pc games up close on a monitor where its taking up a much larger percentage of your field of view. Hook up your ps3 to your monitor and compare the pc games at the same viewing distance and you will see the difference.

Haha you are so right.. Mis calculation lol. I sit about 12ft from my TV. i dont know what i was thinking. Is what you have in the video easy to use? I spent hours trying to install Lifesis and Natural Mod and CCC

Yet it doesn't get you valid quantitative data. That being said, what's your definition of maxed? What are your PC specs? Are you forcing AA/AF/shiny whatevers through your drivers?

rpgs_shall_rule

My def of max is setting all the settings to ultra high...

I just realized something... everytime i set my settings to ultra high play the game and go back to the settings some of them switch to cutsom... Why is that?

Ultra High is a preset. You change anything from that preset, it'll change to reflect that you're not on the Ultra High preset anymore. And again, make sure you're either playing in windowed mode or at your native resolution unless you enjoy stretching.

Edit: Well since you said you have a 1080p monitor, set the resolution to 1920x1080.

Should i still play in windowed mode? Thanks for the help. I was really upset when Crysis didnt look as good as everyone said it is.

WHy does it change from Ultra High to custom all the time though? Am i doing something wrong?

I hope this is what you are looking for:

Everything is set for ultra high

1024x768

4x AA

RyanShazam

At that res, I can understand why it's blurry, it's not even 720p(1280x720) like most PS3 exclusives!

Well i have a 23in 1080p moniter with an hdmi cable... What should i increase it to?

on a monitor you should always try to have it on its native resolution or the image gets sctrecthed out to fit the screen and looks pixelated and blurry. Generally if performance is needed one notch down won't make a huge impact but all the way down to 1024x768 would make it look very blurry.

umm, care to elaborate? Far as I can tell most exclusives on PS3 are 720P.

What are your specs if you can run it in 1080p and have it play smoothly then no reason not to do so and play in fullscreen of course. and download this custom config and install it along with the custom tod. Depending of your specs you should use lvl 4 or 5 i use 5 with my pc and runs and looks great and i have a ati 5770 1G. http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=382692

1080p(1920x1080), but if your PC can't do it stable at that res, definitely above 1280x720, like 1440x900 at least.

How am i wrong? I know what i see. When i play Crysis there are a lot of jaggies and lot of stuff looks fake like trees and grass and rocks and textures. Then i look at a game like Uncharted 2 and see a lot less jaggies and better textures and the game isnt blurry.

Is your Crysis modded? All those pics of Crysis people link are obviously modded.

RyanShazam

Crysis unmodded which is a large scale game.

.

.

.

.

And here is Uncharted 2 which is a small corridor shooter.

yeah its very stream lined you run the installer point it to the direction of where you have crysis installed and then it gives you choices of what to install with detailed explanations. I would recommend lvl 5 and i use sharp shadows defiantly make sure to install the custom tod and don't bother with the difficulty mods they break the game at least for me make your energy regen super slow. And you should try turning off AA the config will activate the edge detect AA built into crysis which works on foliage you may prefer it over regular AA and the performance is better.

Speaking of 5770(which I was going to get but decided to go the extra mile), I'm deciding between a gtx 460 and radeon 5850, wondering which to get within a few weeks.

The gtx 460 no doubt that thing is an overclock beast it can approach gtx 470/5870 levels of performance in terms of performance to price ratio its the best card from nvidia atm for that price range.

Everyone pretty much said that card from what I heard.=p Getting it soon and looks to consume less power as well.

are your sure you pointing it to the right folder when you open up the installer click browse go to your local c drive > Program files > Electronic Arts > Crytek > and click on the crysis folder and then hit ok. if it doesn;t work i could upload the config file and then you just place in in your crysis folder.

the 3.00 version is for warhead it shouldn't work for crysis I'm gonna upload the exact installer I'm using as i don't think there's a link for it on that page for some reason. try this one and see if it works if not you'll have to settle with just the custom config

Thats Strange since there is no ultra high settings in crysis vannila very high is max i guess you already installed some other mod for crysis that is interfering with it. well if it looks and runs good already no point in worrying about.

There isn't even an ultra high for modded crysis.

By that I mean there is no "ultra high" name in the settings.

When using a mod even when the mod is named ultra high it will just show as "custom" under settings.

Its not working properly then all the settings should say custom you wouldn't happen to have a system.cfg file in the crysis installation folder if you do delete it could be some other mod that's interfering i know natural mod has an uninstall option in the start menu. But really doesn't make sense as the autoexec is just a 6kb textfile with a bunch of commands in it as long as its in the right place it should work.

You should also install the crysis texture mods. There are some good ones for leaves and other plants.

Also the crysis extreme particle mod.

I never bothered with texture mods but i got the extreme particle mod to work and its pretty awesome (although the blood effects are exaggerated) especially in slowmo looks really nice the explosions or when you get the minigun and shpam it against a metal wall :D I Made a short video showing off the explosions in slow mo below.

"Better" is so subjective.

How about I throw some numbers at you.

PS3 will have 1 new Uncharted, 1 new LBP, 1 new Last Guardian, 1 new Resistance, 1 new Killzone, 1 inFamous, 1 Yakuza, among other games.

PC will be getting zero of those.

Sir, you do not read what the OP says... or even the title... man, fanboys are quick to gun!

Depending what "High Spec" means for you, PC can easily be 3-4 times more powerfull.

He read it, he is just asking for clarification. A new PC will, of course, be quite a bit more powerful (varying depending on what specs). As he said though, better for what? If it's games, there are a lot of games coming out that won't be on PC, so that will come down to which games you like.

Go read what the TC wrote... please.

"So can someone throw some numbers at me and explain? Either in depth or just a multiple, I don't mind. (And specs wise, not software)"

I've put in red, what was important...
