So PSN is down and crippled for like a week now and it makes me wonder how much longer it will remain that way. I hope it'll be back up by this week but who knows. So what about you, how much longer do you think PSN will be down? I think this is teaching Sony a lesson and can only make their online service better, but I wonder if that will have a cost now.

First off, Anonymous said themselves they're not behind PSN being down. Second, Even if they were behind it, supporting Anonymous just makes you look silly. Bring down PSN would only hurt their cause because the consumers would go against them.

Once again, Live crashed years ago, and it is nowhere near a bad service.

Ya it overloaded because so many new people joined XBL during the holidays. It is not like it was hacked like what happened to the PS3. The 360 was just too successful for its own good. Microsoft just had to add more juice unlike what is happening to Sony.

It still crashed, regardless of the situation. MS shouldve been prepared before. Live is the better sevice, but PSN isnt god-awful.

Well, you have to figure, they are almost rebuilding it from the ground up, investigating what happened, then they have to do testing on the new build, quite a process. Thankfully, Netflix still works and been playing tagteam MK9 with the wife so haven't missed it. Whatever amount of time is needed to secure it, that's just what it will be.

Not even close to the same situation though. I do not understand why people keep trying to compare the two. This is why I made a thread asking for links about the 360 crash today because so many are comparing them I was thinking the 360 was hacked. Think of it this way you take a pitcher of water and pour it into a small glass and it overflows. Kinda like too many people on xbl. So MS just needed a bigger glass. Sony though has a different problem since all their glasses have holes in them so it does not matter what glass is used. Sony is not even sure if credit card information was stolen. I mean I just do not understand why the two are compared. XBL was just too successful and all they needed was more juice to handle the amount of people. Sony though has outside sources shutting down their websites and now PSN itself. They may even be stealing info.

You are using a double-standard. Why should it matter what the cause of the failure was, whether it's a security flaw or an infrastructure flaw? The point is that both Sony and Microsoft have had their servers go down due to internal incompetence, and the end effect is the same for customers-- you can't play online until they fix it. How is it more noble of Microsoft to have been unprepared for an influx of new users than it is for Sony being unprepared for a new hack attack?

Exactly. If a plane crashes because they let too many passengers on versus another plane crashing because someone shoots it down... it doesn't really make a difference to the people on the plane.

THEY GOT HACKED!!!!!!!!!!! Jeez, you fanboys LOVE to spin around a mishap that tilts in your favor. 1st off, I never experienced the PSN to be down for several days before this, and I had my ps3 AND PSN account since 06 (when the ps3 1st launched). 2ndly, you guys (fanboys mainly) act like this was a "technical" issue. All of yall ranting would make just that much more sense if this was an issue on sony's part, but guess what? IT ISN'T!!!! The PSN was HACKED on the 20th of Apr, in case any fanboys was living under their rock, and decided to come out and bash the psn when it's down. I would VERY MUCH rather sony to shut down the PSN and restructure it, in attempts to cut down on the hackers, than to just come out with updates after updates whenever the psn goes down again.

I'd like to see the PSN vs XBL comparisons threads stop, XBL is just an all around better service period. PSN is just filled with hackers, cheats and credit card info thieves which makes the lack of other features vs XBL seem almost small in comparison. You get what you pay for! Imho.

why have Lems been in full DC for the past few months (infact, all of 2011)?

PS3 owners have had their network be down for over 5 days now and they aren't even as testy.

is it because of the lackluster lineup?
