One thing is certain: it doesn't make sense to say that the X1 will be a failure or make MS lose money. Xbox is a strong brand, and all leads to it not being a system without 3rd party support like the WiiU.

What would make more sense, considering the recent fiasco, is that their user based will be reduced at first, and they'll have to recoup that in the following years.

Basically a trade in places between MS and Sony from what happened in the starting years of the current gen.

One thing is certain: it doesn't make sense to say that the X1 will be a failure or make MS lose money. Xbox is a strong brand, and all leads to it not being a system without 3rd party support like the WiiU.

What would make more sense, considering the recent fiasco, is that their user based will be reduced at first, and they'll have to recoup that in the following years.

Basically a trade in places between MS and Sony from what happened in the starting years of the current gen.

I don't know... I don't think there'll be a stalemate. The PS brand is still stronger than the Xbox brand. PS3 selling this much when it had a huge price gap for so long (starting with a $200 gap), and lack of exclusives in the starting years, is good evidence of that.

At the same time, this gen proved that the console market is growing. There were more systems sold than last gen, and it'll probably continue to grow (especially if you consider that there was an economic crisis from 2008 onward, and the market grew anyway).

So I'd guess the X1 will sell about the same as the 360 or a bit more (2nd place), but the PS4 will sell a lot more than the PS3 (1st place), while the Wii U struggles as 3rd.

See, I don't support Microsoft any more because they royally screwed up. I expect them to lose close to $10 billion for their xbox division. That's why I can't support the xbox ONE.
