Poll How much of a headstart will FF7 remake have on PS4? (42 votes)
What do you think, SW? I'm calling 1 year, which would be pretty devastating for x1. But if it ends up being less than a year, then did Sony actually get a good deal?

I'm thinking it's going to be a literal polar opposite of the Rise of the Tomb Raider deal that Square has with Microsoft, like the identical situation. One year exclusive in the console space for an Xbox One release with a PC release about 4 or so months after the PS4 version.
With that said, are you cows going to attack Sony and Square like you did Microsoft and Square for Tomb Raider? I mean if it's the same situation with a different game, are you going to spell your outrage or just continue being cows?
Not sure. But I won't be buying it or FF15 until they are released on pc. And only if they don't come out in as cut and dry ports that are horribly done on the pc as I'm done with supporting companies that don't bother putting in effort to make a decent tittle on the pc. And square has been putting out bad pc ports since well as long as I can remember.

And what about lems , gonna defend FF7 being only on PS4 for an extended period exactly the same as latest TR for X1 or just continue being lems ? You see , your logic can work both ways , lets see what happens

I don't care, and I don't think the Xbox users around here are going to make a big deal out of it if that is the case. I think that was just cows being over-dramatic cows and trying to bash Xbox and Microsoft simply because they could, but are they going to eat crow and do the same thing if that is the case for FF7, Square and Sony, are they going to bash them, or act like it's just fine and completely contradict themselves?
@mesome713: You must be delusional then because it is releasing first on PS4. I wouldn't count on a Xbox version at all. PC is good so we can get enhanced version. Xbox One version at 720p and 20fps is not needed.

Tomb Raider is best known on PlayStation. It sold most there. Same with Final Fantasy and VII isn't a FPS so no dudebro is going to lose any sleep. It worked out for everyone.
Six months is my guess, compared to the Xbox One version- the PC version might, for example, release within a month or so.
I would say about a year. I thought Sony helped fund the original version and has some sway over the IP
@charizard1605: I think it will be at least 6 month(probably more like a year) before it goes anywhere but PS4. Square Enix is not exactly invested in releasing their JRPGs on PC at the same time as console.
They are not developing the game for any platform but PS4. A port won't happen right away. Decent chance it never hits Xbox One. PC for sure, but anywhere close to the PS4.
Want this game badly...buy a PS4.

I mean, I have a PS4, and I'll get this game, I am just answering the question.
Look, about a decade ago, the question 'when will Final Fantasy XIII release on Xbox 360' would have been met with jeers and laughter, but it happened, and it happened on the same day as the PS4 version. I'm just saying, you can never know with Square- a PC version launching a month or so after the PS4 version, and an Xbox One version eventually launching about 6 months to a year later, makes perfect sense to me.
What does not make any sense to me is the idea that the game will never come to Xbox One- Square is too invested in the Xbox with their mainline Final Fantasy games, and they are not going to stop now.

If they want to make money they will, the longer they wait on other platforms the less money they make.
@charizard1605: If FFXV and KH3 don't sell on Xbox One Japanese RPG support will be in jeopardy. It is already dead for smaller titles.
The sales of FFXV Demo (lol) were pathetic on Xbox One.
By the time it comes out, it'll be remade into something new and be full on multiplat.
I'm not kidding. SE is simply too incompetent and stupid to handle this remake well. No chance in hell.

Sure, but for Square Enix (and only for Square Enix, I am not talking about the larger state of Japanese development for Xbox One), it's a minimal cost (especially since their ports aren't even optimized, they're just data dumps) with a tangible return- it doesn't matter how big or small that return is, because that return exceeds zero, which is where they would otherwise be without the Xbox One version.
@mesome713: Xbox One is a poor platform for JRPGs. This will be evident when the PS4 versions of FFXV and KH3 outsell the Xbox One versions by 5:1 or more.

Games with 5% sales have to come to ps/xbox/pc in the past. Unless the XV and KH3 sell less than 100k units, there's zero chance it skips xbone.
And PC for that matter. Just like XV will end up on PC, like i've always said.

Why no FFVII PC port on Xbox? How about FFXHD and the KH Remixes. With the exception of FFXI SE doesn't bring their older titles on Xbox at all. Don't hold your breath on FFXIIHD either on it.
@charizard1605: So why are Dragon Quest, Star Ocean and Nier skipping Xbox then? So Xbox will get FF and KH no matter what, but nothing else by SE?
Why isn't FFVII PC port being ported to Xbox One? It's on freaking iOS now! I stand by my prediction that FFVII Remake NEVER hits Xbox One.

They were announced very early on before everyone but the US realized the Xbox One is crap.
@Legend002: I meant future games. He is saying Xbox will get FF games no matter what happens with the upcoming games' sales

PS4 is the worst at selling kids games. I think Xbox will be just fine.
@mesome713: KH isn't a kids game if that is what you are implying and KH has never appeared on Xbox before. Expect sales to be dismal.

Its a game aimed and rated for kids, and again, PS4 is the worst at selling them. Even Wii U beat PS4 in Lego Jurassic Park sales.
@mesome713: Xbox One version of KH3 won't sell 1/4th of what the PS4 version will. It is almost a decade facto PS4 exclusive. It will sell PS4s.
@StrongBlackVine: It doesnt matter, PS3 got skipped by Kingdom Hearts, so its a pretty level playing field. Xbox even beat the 3DS at selling Lego Jurassic Park game, im sure they can handle Kingdom Hearts just fine.
Is Sony funding it at all?
If not, it will be released multiplatform all on the same day, likely 5-7 years from now.
So not on the PS4 nor the X1.
@mesome713: Yes you are delusional when it comes to this topic. PS3 got KH 1.5 HD Remix and 2.5 HD Remix. Where are the Xbox 360 versions of those collections?
I wouldn't be surprised to see a PS4 version of those collections announced soon, but no Xbox One version.
Xbox One has much lower install base than PS4 and much smaller percentage of its users are interested in JRPGs. Kingdom Hearts isn't Disney Infinity or Skylanders.
@StrongBlackVine: Im talking about a new Kingdom Hearts like 3DS gets, not remasters. Trust me, Xbox will be find, they sale kids games great.
@mesome713: It's not a kid's game. It's a JRPG that uses Disney characters. You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the game is that clouds your judgment.
And yes it will be lucky to sell 1/4th of the PS4 version. It is that lopsided.
If it even releases in the PS4's lifespan...
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if its going to be another two years at least before it's release.. I highly doubt Square Enix is pouring massive amounts of resources into it like a new FF game, it was only after over a decade of massive fan outcry for them to actually consider developing a remake..
Is Sony funding it at all?

no Sony is not funding it like STF5 and Shemue 3, but they are paying for time exclusivity.
The trailer said "First on Playstation". so thats why we know its time exclusive.
@StrongBlackVine: Its a kids game mate, its rated E and is aimed at kids, get over it.
Not a kids game dude....

True, i guess its rated E cause its really just for adults.
Question.
If it does have a year up on Dev can we then blame Sony, and the ps4 for its quality like Sheens did to Final Fantasy 13?
I remember fondly the Sheens coming out of the wood work, claiming that a game that had been in dev for 4-5 years some how completely changed its battle system, size, story...etc Because it had been in development for the 360 for 11 months.
