A stripped down Mac Mini devoted to gaming with an iPad-like device, and I think they'd have a hit on their hands.
I would laugh for a long time, and then proceed to ignore it, like I do with every Apple product.

Smart man!
I guess it would be called the iPippen and they would fail.
They should just stick too the iPad, iPhone, iPod and their Cloud
I'd be like "Great a console I cant afford."
Yes, Im going to be one of those guys who buys evey console for next generation.
This topic has come before not that long ago.
Me personally I'd be overjoyed:D
admitedly half the fun is seeing fanboys on forums going mental.:P
I think they arethe best andworthy challenger to Nintendo's dominance in handhelds and appeal to the broader casual gaming demograph.
I want to see the games industry become bigger and I think Nintendo and Apple can do that.
More jobs, more games, more diversity, more people getting into games, more markets for devs to appeal to, more choice and competition.
There's litterly hundreds of millions of people out in the world that can have the chance to play games.
I'd be like "Great a console I cant afford."

 Smh a mess hahaaha :P I lol'dThis x1000. I refuse to partonize Apple for this reason. Their hardware, in my experience, is overrprice and unreliable.I can see an overpriced Console.

Whereas the PS3 loses features over time :PThe first model of it will be bare bones with a glossy while coat, Apple fans sure like shiney objects. Each new version of the console will come out every 6-8 months and add 1 extra feature and be a few millimeaters thinner.

Im going to have everything except for a Mac ;) (and any other apple product) and I might not get android.
-It will cost way too much. Probably at least $800.
-Most of it's games are gonna be Gameloft-quality knock-offs. You can get CoD, Burnout, Halo, GT/Forza, Uncharted, etc. for PS360, instead of the knockoff versions Gameloft made.
-yearly revisions, forcing everyone to buy the newer console. Seriously, put a game w/ retina support on a iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4, the difference is staggering.
-you can probably get a PS3 and 360,with 2-3 games for each.
It will still sell a lot though, considering how popular Apple is nowadays...

I'm a discriminating consuer. I'll never own another GM, I'll never own another Apple, and I'll never own another Xbox. I spent 6 years at school, I've scrimped and saved to build a well-funded retirement account, and own both of my cars outright (my wife's 2008 and my 2009 Civic). I didn't do any of that by throwing my money at companies whose products have not performed well for me. You get one chance. If you burn me, I'm not coming back.

I can agree with the overpriced part, but unreliable?TailBlood
I would react by ignoring the Apple console...not that I expect them to enter the console market. Why would Apple want to spend all the money to R&D a console when they are making money hand over fist off of mini-games on the iPod / iPad? Look how long it took Sony to make a profit this gen, why would anyone new want to jump into the console market when there are already 3 big players fighting it out? Plus hardly anyone bought the $500 PS3, why would anyone buy the $800 Apple iConsole with specs similar to a Wii?
The better question is why do we have to get at least one of these threads a day about Apple or Sega re-entering the console market? Remember according to SWs the console gaming market is dead. yada yada yada..
I don't think Apple would. When Sony entered the market, they could leverage the CD advantage. MS, who has had a real tough time, managed to leverage an online infrastructure advantage. Really, I can't see anywhere to go, either handheld or console, that would give apple a good foot in the door. If they were to come into the market, I suspect they would do so by partnering with one of the current competitors. The closest they will come for now is in the handheld market with the i devices as they steadily become more diversified and I think that is good enough for Apple for the time being.DerekLoffinIApple is already winning Handheld. Xbox 1 failed with online infrastructure.

I would welcome another company in the console race, whether it be Apple, Sega or whoever. I just feel like this three company war is getting stale and needs a new competitor to make things interesting again.

lol people will go crazy :lol:I know the PC is pretty good. but hey, they would have an advantage. . its just how would they perform.I wouldn't dismiss it just because its Apple, like a lot of PC fanboys on here would. If it had great games I'd give it a try.
Asim90
Well the system would cost $1200 to start with, then they'd charge for each update so i don't think they'll do well.
I kid, but they won't join in unless they have their market analysts provide solid proof that there is a gap to be filled and i know one already.. Consoles with decent MMO's and Blizzard is Mac friendly already so theres a gap right there..
I would laugh at the people I know who would go out and buy an Apple console because they are fanboys.
Apple succeeds when you can hold a product in your hands. A console that looks sleek doesn't sell it, it does sell iPhones over Androids however. They could succeed if they don't overprice their hardware and they will enter the console race if someone drops or has the potential of dropping which, atm, could be any of the big 3.
Well..I've been ignoring their computers, mp3 players, phones and tablets. Adding consoles to this list wouldn't change much .
If Apple joins the console war, theirs will cost $900, have online for $200 a year, and all the exclusives will be called iShoot, iChop, iCommand and iRace, and hipsters will drags theirs into Starbucks.
