Since medieval times, humanity has debated, argued, and sometimes evenfoughtover the eternal question -- which company is better, Sony or Microsoft? Angry diatribes have been written and blood has been spilled, but neither man nor beast have found the answer.

However, each side can score points in less encompassing criteria, and it is on these smaller battlefields that the war is being waged in earnest. One of the greatest war zones, the realm of online services, is the most hard-fought, but it's clear who is winning -- Microsoft. Yes, Xbox Liveisblatantly better than PlayStation Network.

If you don't believe me, you better shut your stupid mouth before I slap it off your gormless face. I have facts backing me up, you little idiot. What have you got? Sit down, shut up, and listen to the truth that's literallygrowingout of my head like hair.Jim Sterling

The only thing XBL can do that PSN cannot is cross game chat, something the PS Vita can do for free. The article is a joke one, it is a satire of 360 owners.

And I think anyone with a logical perspective will agree that free >>> $60 for cross game chat.

XBL is a little better integrated though, things like updates are faster ect....but that doesn't justify the purcahse. Especially because Silver members get that for free.

Your not paying for really anything with XBL. Your just wasting your money.

Wow.. I think I want 5 minutes of my life back. :?

That article reeked of XB fanboy to the 10th Degree. Anyway, there is not fundamental difference between the two online components. They just looked different and still give you the same access outside of $$$ & CGC. The only thing I would add is that I enjoy the XBL UI much better than PSN's. Everything is placed in a way that's visually pleasing and easily accessible. However, that's just a preference not a +1 for M$.

As for the Hack.. Any system can be hacked it's just PSN was an easier target (I guess). I personally don't keep ANY CC information online and use redeemable cards to make purchases on live.

Davekeeh

Its userbase is counted using numbers from the PS3/PSP/Vita... Of course it's larger

Also, read the article. It was clearly satire.

The things I miss about X-box live was the cross game chat, private chat in games, and I could listen to my music installed on my system and play what ever game at the same time. But then again I don't miss paying $60 a year either so I can live with the results.

What XBL does better: - offers a very streamlined service that is intuitive - unified for all developers who use it; level playing field, less problems What PSN does better: - it's free These are the differences that matter to me. If XBL was free, I would be first in line to claim it's superiority. But since it isn't, I will criticize it for doing so.

It does, doesn't it? Then you try and use it. I agree with "get what you pay for" when it comes to console online. Wii is free, and broken. PSN is free, and rickety. 360 costs, but it's slick and works very well. It's worth paying for quality. Plus, only way to play Halo online

Not when it's such a small difference. I fully admit that live is better than PSN, but PSN is functional, and free. And Live COULD'VE been free, it's not like it took a lot more work to make live than it did to design psn, MS just decided to be greeedy, which is expected.

Same here. And in fact, when PSN went down I just played single player, which is something poor lemmings can't do because all of their games are only for multiplayer, umad?

I can't handle the constant updates. It seems like once a week there's a 20 minute update. Xbox updates take 10 seconds. I'm simply not bothered waiting. I found PSN to be laggier then Live as well, tho that could just be bad luck. When PSN isn't updating, or hacked/down for repairs, or laggy, it's fine to play online. But as I said, I'm happy to pay to avoid those problems.

The actual playing is fine. Like, running around shooting in Killzone 2 online it was identical to Live. It's just the updates, and menus, and shop, and voice chat, and friends, and all the stuff that surrounds the gameplay, was a real headache for me. 360 is just a much faster, slicker, better designed online system imo, and I really don't mind paying for that. Free Live would be A LOT better obviously :P

That's because the ps3 has a bad wifi adapter or whatever they're called. And I literally didn't play for 2 months until a few days ago and I didn't have to update at all, once a week is quite an exaggeration.

Once a week IS an exaggaration :P It's cos I rarely play my PS3. And whenever I do, a bunch of updates have built up. And my soul cries as that progress bar crawls to 3% and I just turn it off and play more Halo :P

At least it's free. I've spent nearly 200 on live in the past 4 years I could have used to add to my game collection. What a rip off for a console I hardly play. Party chat is not even functional half the time with members lagging out constantly.

Some people can't afford the finer things in life so they have to bash it. It's unfortunate to be so unfortunate. To go through life being denied the better things must be difficult. Having to rely on an inferior service for your gaming needs is really difficult but some people have to do it. That's the way the world works unfortunately. All you can really do is plaster on a fake smile and act like the inferior service is in some way equal to superior service. If it makes you feel better and sleep better at night, then I'm all for it.

XBL is better because of the games. The sheer quantity of top XBLA games makes it better. The cross game chat is just icing on the cake. The only argument one could have about PSN being better is the quality of their games.

BUT:

That would mean the lemmings argument about rather having the better quality games (Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, PGR) is more important than the quantity of games the PS3 has (Starhawks, Socom, Twisted Metal, Ratchet and Clank, Sly, MNR, ect.)

I think we all know Cows will never, ever admit this. Bottom line is$60 fee or not (Which very few Lemmings ever pay), the XBL service is better. Gamewise it isn't close. Sorry shadowmoses.

I guess that's why PlayStation Network has a much larger user base LOL
People love it more than Xbox Live, and numbers mean the world to Lems so sorry TLHBO

I honestly dislike Xbox Live more and more after every update. The focus is too far from the game, IMO.

If it makes you feel better and sleep better at night, then I'm all for it. todd2r_Partdeux
Yeah i afford a $600 console but can't afford $60 for online play.. MS has better integrations that can't be deny, and has party chat which even the Vita does free,so is not matter or not wanting is a matter of the PS3 OS been to big t implement the feature. That aside they are basically the same, both at its core and in what matter online play are the same, hell even a little advantage to the PS3,because most first party PS3 games used serves and not P2P.. Both lag. Both have cheater (XBL more) Both have screaming teens.(XBL more). The real difference is party chat, because even top use features like Netflix, hulu, facebook and crap like that are also on PSN and free of a pay scheme, every one can use them, unlike on 360,the point that matter is that PS3 fans don't need anything to get a complete experience out of the box,360 fans do and the majority of the xbox community simple don't pay for live and get a gimped experience compare to PS3 owners.. Like i have say many times xbox 360 version of games should be lower rated than any PS3 version, because online is extra, which is more important than jaggies or frames loss.

Xbox live is a fantastic tool for multiplayer.

To the point where I favour the inferior Xbox version to getting it on PC, for the simplicity if palying with friends online.

Its a preference, I've never used PSN, but XBL is very slick and makes playing online with friends more fun.

The only thing XBL can do that PSN cannot is cross game chat

I cant really think of any game updates they've done in the last year other than beacons. I think they're trying to move it towards an all-round TV/entertainment subscription service than a gaming service. Which is aight i guess, but if you just wanna play games you're kinda screwed.
