Hyrule Warriors - Gamespot Review - 8/10

So now people all of a suddenly like Musou games because they wrapped one in Zelda clothes?

I'm sorry but that's hypocritical bullshit. Every review I've read and everything I've seen says it plays exactly like a Musou game yet those are usually heavily criticized for simply being Mosou games.

Was expecting 5/10.

Not only was I surprised by the result, but upon reading the review, I'm interested in the game. Holy shit Nintendo has stepped up their game even with "silly" (read: not so much anymore) spinoffs.

Also dat 2-points higher than Destiny.

I was expecting a 4 and to me this kind of gameplay deserves no more than a 5. DW gameplay is pure mediocrity

I might check it out. Never looked into the Dynasty Warriors series. Looked very niche to me, catering to a very specific group of gamers. Who really love the series.

Perhaps Zelda can make it more interesting to me :P

Polygon is a traditional Nintendo Hater. They also said that MK8 wouldn't do as good as it did and has predicted Nintendoom for a long time now. I don't listen to a word they say after gamergate.

I think that anyone, that is skeptical towards this... Check out Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors, Warriors Orochi. One of those. There's plenty around, so you could just get a cheap one of those. But hey, this game seems to be called Fan Service: The Game, so if you dig Zelda, you'll probably see some cool shit.

I don't get this either. Especially because reviewers tend to hate on Nintendo games. Are they seeking redemption, are they realizing that there is a fanbase for this and are they sympathizing? Or is this some sort of ploy to get Nintendo to make more shitty spin-offs? Is Freedomfreak altering our dimension?

What do you preffer if you had to only choose one?;

• a game with very few maps/levels(which get boring fast) but tons with different characters to play with. Bad multiplayer if any at all

or

• a game with 3 characters to play with but tons with content in form of many different maps/levels to play at and very strong/good/fun multiplayer

As an owner of Destiny, the first one sounds like Destiny. Worst game I've purchased in awhile lol.

I miss the days of Blockbuster when games like this one come out. I have no desire to spend $60 on a hack-n-slash title, but I am happy to shell out $7 for a rental. It's the perfect game for a late night with a friend.

Alas, now I have to depend on Redbox, which doesn't even carry "next-gen" titles yet.

Yeah. They gave Wind Waker, 3D World and Mario Kart a 9/10. Some real fucking hate going on there...

8 is a surprising score for this game. Thought it would get a 7 at best. Still looking forward to it immensely.

Damn straight it did. Because Zelda is gold and anything it touches becomes instantly better. Aka crap like DW turns into a decent game.

We're also human beings capable of thoughtful discussion. The Gamespot forums are a medium for the community to discuss games, I doubt many people on here actually read the reviews/news from Gamespot. I sure don't anyway.

Anyway, I'm picking up this game. It looks fun.

The GameSpot score is higher than what I saw from IGN and Gametrailers.com which both gave the game a 7.0 score. It is also higher than I expected due to the reputation of Dynasty Warriors.

If you want decent games discussion rather than a metagame, you should go to the "Games Discussion" board. :P

I laugh at the people who ignore metacritic and only rely on gamespot reviews or single/few reviews, especially if it fits with their own bias. Metacritic comes up with a general consensus on what critics have scored a game, and a Consensus > Single/Few opinions.

I'll pick it up down the line. Maybe when there's a price drop.

same score as the Last of Us? Gamespot's credibility just keep going lower and lower... The fact that one of the best games ever made got an 8 means that that 8/10 now has a lot of weight and they are giving it to a shitty Dynasty Warriors clone? This is ridiculous. I mean, when was the last time a Dynasty Warriors game scored higher than a 7 on this site? Never. Based on Metacritic this is the highest scoring Dynasty Warrior game ever which only makes it more sad. It's clear that reviewers don't review games they review brands.

The normal DW games are very avg, but Nintendo has a hand in this. So I'm guessing a good 7 at least. Usually when Nintendo has a fair say, its always going to be at least good. Its the ZELDA IP in question, they're aren't going to let a shit ass game be released.

I'm really surprised that they like the gameplay. I don't know, I guess this DW-esque gameplay doesn't interest me at all. I love the character design for this though.

I don't buy it....seems like a total fanboy review and looking at other reviews seem to confirm that. That being said it is worth a try

I know the first game you are describing is Destiny...not so sure about the second one, Smash 4? yeah, sounds about right, but you know, it has more than 3 characters ;)

Exactly. I couldn't care less for the game, i find DW to be extremely boring. Adding a Zelda skin won't make me buy it.

I'm shocked it didn't get around a 5ish score. The prejudice towards this game was real when the editors talked about it during its development.
