Hello all, I'm Suze Douglas. I bought a Wii a few weeks ago and have been having a boatload of fun with my kids playing games. Wii Sports, Monkeys in a Ball, "Wario Ware", Boogie have all been a riot. I decided to see what the real world of gaming is like and stumbled across this site.

Boy, does it make me feel sick.

All you people do is complain and whine about your precious "consoles". And what is worse, you sit there and demean the Wii, which is taking this industry to new heights. It seems there are a lot of people angry about what the Wii has done to gaming. Why? The games are more fun now, I am evidence of that. I would never have played any of your old "kill X amount of people in X amount of time" games. Nintendo is bringing games that everyone can enjoy, and play together. It's not about being by yourself and killing anymore, it's a much more healthy industry.

I hope you all can look in the mirror and see what you're saying. Games were in a terrible state before, but the Wii is allowing it to be for everyone. I know there are many new players like me voting with their wallets, and I hope we never get another slaughtering game again.

I hate to break it to you all, but you're going to have to adjust to the new, better, healthiervideogame industry. Playing tennis with your family is better than killing for fun.

Ignore the Wii haters. Most of them are just upset because they now wish they had bought a Wii instead of one of those other "consoles". They won't admit that of course, even to themselves. But deep down inside, they wish they had chosen the Wii instead.

Hey, I'm all for the Wii. It is the most fun you can have at a keg party, that is until you get a wayward golf swing in the face. Ha! On a serious note, you should get your kids Red Steal. The'll LOVE it.

Its up to what kind of games your into. I like Wii sports almost as much as I like Halo. Both games are fun, matter of opinion. Enjoy your new fun factory.

I have a Wii and DS, I love both :)

I am still looking forward towards buying a 360 soon though. Xbox 360 + Wii = great combination. My sister loves the Wii more, but still has got some small interest in our future Xbox 360.

I'm glad to see that most of the posts here are positive. I just dislike the fact that - from what I have read - this system seems to be given a hard time because it is "ruining videogames" and promoting games that are genuinely fun.

Think about Monkeys in a Ball. What a priceless concept. No guns needed, but it is a whole lot of fun to tilt your controller to move a little pal like Gongon or Aiai.

Hello sir,

There is a new game on the Wii called Manhunt 2, I think you should buy it for yourself and your children. It will help them grow. It will take them to new heights.

Actually to the people who are saying I am "some dudey" who is faking liking the Wii (as if it's impossible to like), this is quite far fetched. I have recently fell in love with some games on the system, and me and my children (even sometimes my husband!) all have a blast on the Wii. I decided to look up some games my children may enjoy and got to your site. Guitar Hero sounds fun (maybe my kids can learn to appreciate music too!).

Anyways, I'm not trying to be harsh. I'm just saying you should all learn to accept that Nintendo is taking your video games industry to great new heights. I wish you all wouldn't look at it with such resentment and embrace it.

yeah but these simple and boring games are what hold video games back from being called art. games like bioshock progress the industry even mass effect looks to do so as well. hl2 is showing amazing story telling through its expanded episodes. wii games are just quick cash ins for fun but nothing to be taken seriously. i feel real gamers who own wii's just cant let go of their pride and admit their console isnt waht they thought it was with 3 or 4 maybe great games in its future lifespan. they expected more and now are simply satisfied (barely) with the fact that its winning which doest matter if the games on it are trash

Playing tennis with your family is better than killing for fun.

suzedouglas

I disagree that Nintendo's new games are better, most of their new series are kind of lame, the only games I want for the wii are Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and No More Heroes, and the next Zelda, whenever it comes, those games have killing or fighting in them. The rest of the games, like Wii Sports, and WarioWare don't interest me, and WiiFit is just a pointless game.

How is the wii making the video game industry better or healthier? And how were games in a terrible state before because I enjoyed them?

And I don't have to adjust to those games, because, the PS3, 360, PC, and yes the wii too are coming out with these "violent" games.

Don't take the posts here seriously here either, they are fanboys and like their consoles, and are arguing for fun. MOst of the people don't take this place seriously, and enjoy the arguing. There are some who take it seriously though.

The reasons videogames can't be called art is because they are all about killing as a sport. I am going to assume that most of those games you mentioned involve killing people for points.

A Wii game such as monkeys in a ball can truly be called art. To take such a simple concept and allow an entire family to get together and enjoy it, that's art.

Let me say this. Thanks Wii for getting people to recognize the gaming industry and have families come together and play video games. Now on a real issue you came to a place where people like video games, did you not, to see what there opinions are and what games they are playing. But is seemsthat you came here with a bias opinion that everyone is like your family. Yes, families have fun playing the Wii, but not everyone likes the Wii or Nintendo. I grew up with Nintendo, but I am not a kid anymore, and I am tired of Mario going out to save Peach etc. etc. I think it is a great console that my younger sister, brother, and older relatives can play. But I don't want to play it and when I look in the mirror I feel great that I have a console that suits my taste in video games. I don't like the Wii and that's my opinion.

A Wii game such as monkeys in a ball can truly be called art. To take such a simple concept and allow an entire family to get together and enjoy it, that's art.suzedouglas

If you are denying bioshock/hl2/oblivion their right to be called art then i really dont think u know anything about art at all....

I would rather play GTA4 and kill people and have loads of fun rather than play with monkies and be bored. Just because you say it's fun doesn't mean WE have to agree with you, fun is different for everybody. GTA Vice City was art and very violent, you need to broaden your horizons and experience other games before you make your claims. I have been gaming for over 20 years and even though their are some Wii games I want and I plan on getting one, I don't like the casual kiddie direction it's going in.

None of those games are art though. Bioshock is probably closest, but not really. Art is supposed to be evocative, thought provoking and inspirational(well sometimes). Most importantly, they carry a message written by the artist to pass on to others. There isnt a single game made that has any profound message about it. Video games are made to entertain first, and provokes thoughtful insights much much much later (often never). Art is the complete opposite of a video game. FYI, dont hold your breath for a game to become a verifiable piece of artwork, as such a game would play like a pile of garbage, possibly look as such too.

I mean no disrespect, Lady, but you dont know what you are talking about.  I have no problem with you enjoying the wii, just realize that this sort of thing was made for (what we in system wars call casual gamers) people like you.  You might enjoy these simplistic games but someone who has been gaming their entire life appreciates developers pushing the envelope and creating deeper and more complex experiences.

I suppose I should clarify a point (it seems I have caused some aggression here) - when I say the video game playing industry was in trouble before, I mean content wise.

I've watched some programs about violence in videogames, and have been astonished at the idea of awarding "points" for killing other people. I would never let any of my children near these games. Then I heard about the Wii, a game machine with no such games. Where people can enjoy little games and share moments with each other.

Actually though, I'm a little worried about the Wii's first violent game "Naruto". My kids liked this show until I found out it was about little kids beating each other up. Now there is a fighting game about little kids on the Wii, which I find distasteful.

It's one game I have to steer clear of and hope others will do the same.
