[QUOTE="mjarantilla"][QUOTE="MonacoX"][QUOTE="mjarantilla"][QUOTE="MonacoX"]I mean no disrespect, Lady, but you dont know what you are talking about. I have no problem with you enjoying the wii, just realize that this sort of thing was made for (what we in system wars call casual gamers) people like you. You might enjoy these simplistic games but someone who has been gaming their entire life appreciates developers pushing the envelope and creating deeper and more complex experiences.MonacoX
Or maybe someone who has been gaming all of their life would appreciate some variety in their experiences, instead of settling for brainless adrenaline thrillfests with no thought or intelligence whatsoever.
brainless? no, adrenaline thrillfests? HELL YES! Please explain to me why the the other consoles dont offer enough variety? Or by variety do you mean "waggle controls"? Dont get me wrong I appreciate games like SMG, but if I had to choose I'd rather play games like Bioshock or the upcoming Alan Wake.Brainless YES. You praise games like BioShock, Oblivion, and even previous Xbox games like KotOR without realizing just how dumbed down they were compared to their predecessors. There are only a few exceptions, and I personally can't think of any in this current generation (other than POSSIBLY SMG and Assassin's Creed).
By variety, I mean I don't want to SHOOT every goddang thing in sight, thank you very much. About a third of the Xbox 360's library of decent games (8.0+ on Metacritic) are sports games, and about half of what's left are military games with no story and no drive for independent thought.
Firts off I never said a thing about oblivion, so where did that come from? You are aboslutely right saying that the Xbox has alot of shooters but it still supports plenty of other genres.
And in whatt way were Bioshock and KOTOR dumbed down?
You say there is no room for independent though, tell me what Wii game offers this?In what way were BioShock and KotOR dumbed down? Why don't you play Baldur's Gate II and System Shock 1/2?
And you ask me for games which offer independent thought:
- Zack & Wiki
- Zelda TP
- Metroid Prime 3
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Paper Mario
They aren't uber-difficult mind-benders (except maybe Z&W's later levels), but at least they stimulate imagination and compel the player to advance to the next level by his own effort, rather simply killing twenty of the same bad guys you've killed a thousand times before to trigger yet another scripted event the way Gears, Halo 3, GRAW, COD, PDZ, and virtually every other major game on the 360 does.
I can't even think of ANY 360 game that allows the player to pursue his own solution to a problem other than BioShock and Assassin's Creed.
