I Dont Get It - What Makes Mario Galaxy Good? (56k OVERKILL)

I see this statement two or three times in every Super Mario thread that has some praise about it and there is always that "what makes this game so good to you guys, it's just mario".

If anyone says mario is "just mario"... you need to step AWAY from his spin-offs. True Mario games, as i'm about to show, are all about fun and variety.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES MARIO GALAXY GOOD!

Gravity! :o -

Suits -

Bosses -

And it goes ON, and ON, and ON!! Seriously people... this game is SO varied I can't even imagine what else this Mario may hold. With 2 suits that we know of, and only 6-10 levels demoed (out of 60, or is it 120?)... just HOW MUCH can this game have?

This is what makes this game amazing and EASY contender for GOTY. It's not the graphics, not the music, its the gameplay and just how INSANELY FUN this game is. A game that wins on fun.... I think I can live with that.

Mario has been weak since his 1st apperance on N64.

Mario 64 was a bore.

Did you look at it? Theplanets are small and each one could be raided in a few minutes! :P Besides, repetitive games aren't always bad. Fighting games get more fun the better you get. RPGs you get betterwaisting an hour to get a 'level up'. :| Who would choose an 'action' rpg(for the action)instead of just an action or fighting game is beyond me.

It's one thing to criticize a game that looks par but a lot of people like, but criticizing one of the biggest games in a console's current lifespan is stupid. Whether or not this game is your taste, making those kinds of comments is not only wrong, but it shows that you're being a complete fanboy.

Many, if not all, games revolve on repetition of actions. Zelda WindWaker managed to get GOTY with aledged 'immature' styling. All games, at some point get boring and seem pointless.

Mario 64 is the 6th best game on GameRankings and it got a 9.4/10 on GameSpot.

You've heard me say? Before I got into Xbox I was totally oblivious to anything other than Nintendo. I bought every game - SSBM, MP, MP2 Mario Sunshine, Zelda WW - I have also had 3 gameboys and a DS. I think I can legitimately say that those games are all getting very repettive.
