[QUOTE="Respawn-d"]You mean it's better that people type than conveniently speak into a mic? I only want to chat (voice) with then when were playing multiplayer together. But when were in diff games I dont wanna hear voice. Im fine however if were all in a text chat room with words poping in the corner of the screen because I can pay attention to conversation when I want or ignore it for a while as I focus on gameplay. Ofcourse this is just my opinion which is no better or worse then anothers.text chat rooms > voice chat rooms

was he one to say disc swapping was actually convenient?
not seeing the relevancy here. but at least he hasn't turned cross-game invites into something laborious. like how swapping discs was such a 'chore' they said.

I'm assuming when you get cross-game invited you'd still have to swap your games, unless it just magically pops in there.
The point in me bringing up the other things is that the convenience arguement between XMB and NXE is only part of the bigger picture which this whole thread is about.
Being able to form a party is great if everyone's playing something different but still want to chat a bit. Watching a movie, playing an arcade game, listening to music. Doesn't matter. Maybe eventually everyone wants launch into some co-op Left 4 Dead? What's the equivalent on the XMB? Home? The streamlined nature of the XMB doesn't make an iota of difference in this case.
The whole cross-game invite/disc swapping issue is a moot point considering the PS3 would require this as well... but in a more clunky way. Forget the fact that no disc swapping is needed for downloaded games. For all the simplicity you like in the XMB, cross-game invites can't be done on the PS3 in the same way as the 360.
Having to flip through a couple more panels VS actual functionality. That's what we're looking at here.
Aside from playing games with friends, why would I ever want to use a console to chat with people whem I'm watching movies or listening to music? You can do those things but it's not exactly logical or normal to get several people to make time, meet online, just to watch a trailer together.
None of this is relevant to my original point, which was how cluttered NXE is with needless panels.

no your original point was that its cluttered and your some how forced to delve through this clutter to get to important stuff. when your infact not. It is easy and fast to get to important parts of the NXE and I went through the spotlight and counted and less then 20% of the panels lead to purchasable stuff most of it leads to free trailers and other such things for free. and maybe you don't watch trailers with others, or movies *which you can do watch a movie with a party on netflix or one you purchase via zune marketplace* or maybe you don't chat with others...but other people do, and your personal non-use of a thing doesn't discount it. you've yet to post a valid reason for NXE being cluttered in your opinion, you've been proven wrong you don't have to delve through any thing to get to important parts of the NXE like friends list and options and achievments, and most of the panels lead to free trailers and other such things not marketplace content to buy.[QUOTE="Gxgear"][QUOTE="VoodooHak"]

I counted every panel in NXE from the root menu and over half of them are advertisements. Did you even bother to take a look yourself?
If you want to claim sometihng as proven wrong please at least back it up.
For all I care the only thing that REALLY lacks is cross game chat and the party chat, which is actually huge for me but in quantity it is still one.I wouldnt expect any less since live came with the original xbox , it's had a lot more time to evolve , hopefuly psn will catch up.

Right. What you described is very illogical. I boubt many people use it that way. What the party system does is allow members to party up on a more ad hoc basis. That's more reasonable and probably the way most people use it.
When we loop your point back to the OP, your complaint becomes miniscule given the benefits I've been describing. That's where the relevance lies.
The psn also doesn't have as much demos as live,no ps3 retail games too download, not as many psn games, and not as much music and movies to get so it's lacking more than just cross game chat and party chat. For all I care the only thing that REALLY lacks is cross game chat and the party chat, which is actually huge for me but in quantity it is still one.I wouldnt expect any less since live came with the original xbox , it's had a lot more time to evolve , hopefuly psn will catch up.

The good may outweigh the bad for you because you already paid for it and have to live with it either way, . For silver members like me and many others out there, or even people who aren't social gamers by nature, a lot of NXE's contents becomes irrelevant and ultimately cumbersome.

We do live in an age when ppl prefer to text each other > call. Why would it be any diff for me online
Text on phone > Text through PSN/XBL
Talk to people on XBL through mic > Text people on XBL through phone
Texting is better than calling because it saves time. On XBL, it saves alot of time to talk through mic compared to texting. Texting is painfully slow on XBL and PSN btw
The good may outweigh the bad for you because you already paid for it and have to live with it either way, . For silver members like me and many others out there, or even people who aren't social gamers by nature, a lot of NXE's contents becomes irrelevant and ultimately cumbersome.

So there's the crux of it. You don't play online with your 360. That explains everything. Now your comments seem a bit out of place in a thread that specifically wants to address Xbox Live features.
And by the way, I've had opportunity to discontinue my gold account each time my subscription is up for renewal. I choose to renew for the reasons I've already listed in this thread. So it's not that case that I like it because I paid for it. It's the other way around.

Me being silver or gold member has no bearing on the advertisement being huge eyesores. And even if you were gold you wouldn't be accessing those panels to make a purchase frequent enough to warrant its existence. Last time I checked silver members can still buy games and DLCs.
I've been discussing interface this whole time, YOU decided to focus on the online features.

I focus on online features because they are the point of this thread.
They're not an eyesore to me because they're relevant to my gaming experience. There are plenty of instances where I've clicked one of those items because I didn't know or forgot that a piece of content is available and wanted to check it out. I acknowledge that you have a problem with them. You're more than welcome to that opinion.
However, considering the fact that you're seemingly the only person in this thread that has a problem with it, I'm thinking it's not a big deal to many other people.

That's fine and all, but don't reply to my comments like you have a rebuttal when it's completely irrelevant.
Just because I'm the only voice on the other side of this particular doesn't mean they don't exist. It's no mystery that plenty of these topics have been made before, and both sides exist.
