Heres a link from over a year and half ago showing the failure rate of 360 at 54.2%, there was a 2010 article that had it at 73% a few months ago but it's not coming up in my Google search, but do the math, if it was over 54% well over a year ago, it obviously escalated since then.
Riiiight, 'cause they totally didn't release a far more reliable model in that time-frame right?
Do you see TC, you see what 360 boys are doing here, there grasping at straws, they can't argue with any other facts i listed, so there going to try and defend the percentage of 360's RROD rate. Which by the way is embarrassingly high no matter how you slice it, but the point being is that the PS3 is the better hardware, with, I.M.O the better exclusives. So don't listen to your friends, because like many others they just jumped on board the 360 band wagon because it was out a year before PS3, not because it's the better system, because it's not. you didn't list any facts. you pointed out a fan poll done by game informer that has zero credibility. the other "fact" was an article that doesn't exist. Most of my friends play ps3 but a ton of kids at my school still play xbox so we are all really bias
for me, one of my group of friends have ps3s, but we normally talk and play multiplats. My 2nd group of friends all own 360s like me. With them, its a constant battle between COD and halo. One by one, they're preferring halo after intense education;)
Why are people here so biased to one system? It's not like you're cheating on it for gods sake. Systems are just plastics that allow you to enjoy the games y play. This silly attachment to one consoleis just childish. I understand that a lot of people here can't afford more than one console, but why don't you come out and say thst from the start, no instead we get a 60 page thread like this full of nonesense.
The 360 is a hard habit to break. Lots of people bought one because it came out first or was cheaper than the PS3. Not only that, Live works very well and really created a community. People buy lots of games that have multiplayer component, as do their friends, and the cycle goes on. Enter the PS3 a few YEARs later in a suddenly affordable new slim console and the beginnings of a strong exclusive game portfolio....and nobody really cares because they are already invested in the 360. They might desire the free online service and some of the cool exclusive games available for PS3, but its not worth giving up the investment in their xbox360. The PS3 just started too late. It arrived 1 year late. It was way too expensive for the following year or two, plus the games just plain sucked for the most part in those early years. Who knows, maybe PS3 has stronger legs and will finish this generation in a more respectable position. Time will tell.
yeah same here, only 3 of my group friends at school have a PS3, the other 6 or 7 have 360. Its pretty annoying how they talk junk about the PS3 and Wii and hail to their paid subscription on their 360.
I don't have a favorite system and I have a Wii and PS3 (I just don't like the 360... but i don't have no #1 fav), I get defensive about the games I like or when a troll is completely wrong about what they are talking about.

I never said it wasn't better hardware. For the record, I prefer the PS3 to the 360. Doesn't change the fact that you pulled that 71% figure out of nowhere.
This situation only happens in USA, in europe most ppl get a PS3. To be sincere i think that ppl should get an xbox360 cause it has much more recognition, a less sociable way to play. It's very simple; if you are a gamer get both, if you are a non gamer but like to play abit get ps3, if you like to play awsome gamers with awsome graphics and story get the ps3, if you like shooting things and playing online get xbox360
By the way: i've seen more children playing ps3 than other systems, so if you don't like getting pwned by camper kids, get the xbox 360.
I PREFER THE PS3 that doesn't mean im a child lol
in terms of friends def 360 i only have a few friends who own a ps3 but those same ppl continually bask 360 whenever im around them so ithink its the same both ways
Everyone has a personal preference. I used to be mostly a pc gamer, then got a 360 for games pc did not have halo, gears 2 etc, then a PS3 for their exclusives MGS4, Uncharted bla bla bla. Let your friends hate as long as your enjoying what you got its all good.
When I play console games with my friends it's usually in person. We tend to play nhl 11 and usually will play 3on3 or 6 players on the same team online vs another team. The PS3 is the only console that allows us to do this (sync more than 4 controllers). The xbox 360 limits the maximum amount of players (controllers assigned to the console) to 4, so when we have 6 people that want to play 2 would have to sit out. In my home town we always play on a PS3, but when we go and visit my buddy down at Purdue, all he has is a 360 so it doesn't work out as well.
2 Years ago I would have said PC, mainly because we all used to lan and game together (cs;source, hidden;source, left4dead, WoW etc)
[QUOTE="Some-Mist"]Hah hah hah. . . Six person split screen? My TV is 40" and I can barely tolerate two person split screen. Sure, you could do system links but you could also do that with a 360, making that 2+ people asinine. When I play console games with my friends it's usually in person. It's not split screen in nhl. It's 1 screen with all of us on that one screen - like in an actual hockey game. The only issue is that one of the players has to play goalie (I'm usually the best at goaltending) so when the puck is in the other opponent's zone, you can't see my goalie at all.
apparently you don't understand how nhl 09/10/11 works? I don't think you can even split screen in that game if you wanted LOL.
More and more of my friends or relatives have bought PS3's since I've owned one. I know a lot of people with 360's but none of them seem to really dislike the PS3, a lot of them say they wish they bought one instead of their 360 after playing mine. I don't really hang out with any hardcore gamers and I'm not one myself. I don't have the time or money to be considered one anyways. I like some things about the 360 and I wouldn't mind owning one especially so I can play online with a lot of my friends that have 360s. It's not that big of a deal to me though, and in the end of the day they're just video game consoles... machines. I'm not a huge fan of Micsosoft's effect on the gaming industry as well as their tactics but whatever... it's not a priority in my life, I have much more serious issues to worry about and I think most people I know that game are the same way.Messiahbolical-When all else fails, make up BS stories...

I forgot about sports games, honestly. They never really appealed to me. As you say, a player can fall off screen and that's always disconcerting.not at all. Often times when I play as a defensemen and the opponent's offense player is cherry picking I will hang back underneath the screen to anticipate that pass. It's not really hard or frustrating what-so-ever. The same thing happens when you play with 2 players on the same team and one travels too far off the screen. The only time it becomes an issue is when the person playing doesn't know how to play NHL. I'm talking from experience in playing with multiple players.
Playing with 6 players is so intense/funny. When my team scores everyone goes insane lol. We try to do it at least once every couple of weeks when everyone is in town. As I stated though, when we went to visit my buddy down at purdue, I brought 2 extra 360 controllers since he already had 4 only to find out that you can't sync more than 4 controllers to one console. It was actually pretty frustrating :/ playing as a full 6 player team > a partial 4 player team.

I HATE how all of my friends have an Xbox 360 and believe the PS3 is garbage.Kokuro_KunThank reviewers for that. The ones that excuse all of the many "less-good" things Halo does and it scores 9.5
The PS3 online is garbage. Players are horrible compared to XBL gamers (based on my COD experience). For competitive gamers, PS3 is the minor leagues. For antisocial games, errr single player exclusives, you can make the argument PS3 is better.shadow8585
Meh. 99% of the people playing COD on ANY system are horrible.
everywhere is diffrent
People i hang around are all PC gamers and we all hate Consoles
and these people saying blu-ray is a waste of money are just jealous

He kinda has a point. But I agree. The only weakness to GT5 was it set its sights too high....

Keep telling yourself that ;)
Having owned both systems, I can tell you the "competitive nature" and skill level is equal on all fronts. Just because XBL has more people with mics trash talking one another doesn't mean they are better players.
@ancientdozer: thats why you sit and dont stand. we do play online however it's easier and more fun to play in person. plus when you want to drink and play with your buddies who are usually away at different schools I would way rather play with them in person as opposed to playing them online which I can always do when they're not home.
as others have stated previously, it appears you're grasping for straws. why you would rather play online rather in person is beyondme. but people play their consoles differently and I don't judge. I dunno what you're trying to prove or if you're just trying to damage control, but when it comes down to playing in person in nhl 6 player (a full team) is more fun than 4 players. everyone that I play with agrees and the ps3 allows us to do that. thats my situation.
for the record, out of all the guys I play nhl with, one doesn't own a 360 and he's the only one that thinks it's trash. he only likes sports games tho and he tends to be a jealous person so he doesn't count.
You know , it's funny , cause ALL of my friends , literally , have a ps3 and think the 360 is garbage , but that's because the playstation brad is VERY strong here in Brazil , actually shame on sony for not selling it officially , anyways , I'm more flexible , they're both the same to me but playing with friends really gives the edge to any platform. :P
Most of my friends owned an original Xbox and a PS2. But when the "next generation of gaming" came about, they went soley with the 360 and blindly hate on the PS3. I know im not alone because many people here in SW have a 360 because their friends do. (I being one of those people)
I'm 18 in College at Houston, TX. It seems to me that its almost cool to like the Xbox 360 over the other systems. It is it's own fad.
When hanging out in between classes and i catch some "gamer" talk, i chime in. 90% of the time its people talking about COD or Halo but everynow and then they'll just say ignorant things like the PS3 online is garbarge and no one needs bluray its a waste of money. All of these are great opinions but man, this really grinds my gears.
Do you ever see any of this situation in your life? Do your friends all have 360's and you find yourself being the only PS3 owner?
Rarely. My friends are older, like myself 38 years old, and have moved past the blind hatred of products from companies that don't really care about us personally, just our cash flow.[QUOTE="shadow8585"]The PS3 online is garbage. Yes it does try playing a team based online game without the ability to communicate. . Activision realizes this, that's why they don't put any effort in a PS3 game.so because all my freinds buy a certain system that means i should to? :|
i buy the system i want, wether they own it or not.
most of my friends are 360 gamers. but none of them really care that much to trash the other ps3 or wii
Most of my friends, family and relatives own an XBox 360. Most of them do not own a PS3. The ones that do own a PS3, bought it long after me. I didn't buy mine until almost 2 years after it was released. Almost all my online game with friends are done on XBox 360/XBox Live. Most of my friends don't bash any of the consoles. They just don't talk about the PS3 or Wii that much. My cousin and a few other people I know will bash some of the games on the other platforms, but not really the hardware.
Whenever I say something about 360 everyones arpund me minds their bussniess HOWEVER if I mention wii or ps3 to a friend around random ppl those random ppl will give their 2 cents about why ps3 and wii suck.
If I mention PC they cant say anything because they think pc = facebook
Meh, people bash on what they are ignorant to. W/e, their your friends but you don't get to dictate their tastes and you shouldn't take anything they say to heart when it comes to your personal taste and enjoyment. Its your's and your's alone, that's all that matters.
[QUOTE="Kokuro_Kun"]The same thing happened with PS2 when it came out, it was more popular than the nintendo gamecube and xbox because of 'fad' from the fame of the first playstation. Get over it, 360 is very popular in North America and people who hold on to the fact that Sony "used" to be top dog need to let go. Just like those Nintendo guys who were upset when PS1 sales took over, they couldn't let go of Nintendo's previous fame. Now its Microsofts turn (ignoring the fact that Nintendo is actually in the lead) and why not? It's a great console to have and besides the awesome PS3 exclusives, the multiplat games run best on 360, and there are way more multiplats than exclusives between the two consoles. There's really no need to HATE on Microsofts win this generation. Most of my friends owned an original Xbox and a PS2.
