Here's a list of games I've played since I bought my ps4 and Xbox one.

Alien isolation

FIFA 14/15

Assassins creed unity

Wolfenstein the new order

Middle earth shadow of mordor

Destiny

Dying light

Battlefield hardline

Halo mcc

Metal gear solid V

The witcher 3

So with the exception of halo (which I traded in after playing maybe 3 times), all these games are available on both the ps4 and the Xbox one. I'm absolutely crying out for an exclusive that will justify my purchase of both consoles. I'm definitely buying rise of the tomb raider at some point but could easily waIt if Imy ps4 was my only console.

Sure there's a few exclusives I wouldn't mind trying out (until dawn springs to mind), but there's still not a single exclusive that I'd consider a must play title like metal gear or the witcher. Even if I think of games I'm looking forward to in 2016 my list contains multiplatform games like DOOM, Deus ex, and mirrors edge.

im sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but weren't the likes of final fantasy, grand theft auto and metal gear solid, all exclusive to the ps2 during that generation?

Who else feels underwhelmed by the exclusives this gen?

Well imagine some1 who has a high end pc so you only buy exclusives for consoles, my ps4 library currently consists of Bloodborne + NHL, I'll grab xbone when Quantum Break comes, Wii U I have plenty of games tho.

Thus far, my PS4 library just consists of remasters and a few indie games that I definitely could have done without, but my reason for owning all consoles (Uncharted 4) will finally be arriving in just a few short months and then hopefully my second reason (God of War 4) will arrive next year.

I think it is sad that exclusives are indeed getting more and more rare every generation. I miss the 16-bit days when the SNES and Genesis both had very different libraries from each other and even a lot of games that they had which shared the same name were completely different from each other in gameplay like if I bought Aladdin on Genesis, it was a completely different game from the version on SNES, and I loved that.

Eh, I own both and just play what I want when I want on each one. It works out nicely. Otherwise I just use my laptop which outspecs both of them.

Here´s my line up:

PoS4.-

TLoUR

COD AW

COD BO2

KZ SF

Lego Marvel Heroes

Destiny

FIFA 16

The Order

MK X

BAK

That´s pretty much it

X1

GOW UE

Halo 5

Halo MCC

Sunset Overdrive

BF4

Alien Isolation

You want to know why I own both ? because I can´t play Halo in PoS and I can´t play KZ SF in X1 and that pretty much is enough to justify the purchase of a console. Next purchase ----> WiiU, it´s got 10 games I would like to play.

I had an Xbox One, PS4 and a PC with a GTX 660 until recently, when I realized just how pointless it was owning all three. Sold my Xbox One and got a GTX 970, overall pretty happy with the decision especially as more and more Xbox One exclusives are announced for PC.

I can afford to own everything, but at a certain point there's too much clutter and wasted space without enough reason to justify having it. I'm sure I'll miss some Xbox One game I would love to have at some point, but I'll live. PS4/PC lineup in 2016 is very strong.

Nope, both GTA and Metal Gear Solid were on the original Xbox. Correct about Final Fantasy though.

Edit: Okay, Snake Eater wasn't on Xbox. But 2 was.

And your reply sounds unproductive to me.

Anyway, I own both consoles myself, and yes, I feel greatly underwhelmed by the lack of exclusives. Most of the games I have for both PS4 and Xbone are cross platform. What's funny is that I criticized the Wii U the most during this generation, but not only is my library the largest of the three, it also has the most exclusives... *shrugs*

@FireEmblem_Man: The selling the PS4 part and keeping the Xbox One part is the bad advice. I realize everyone's tastes run differently, but there's less overlap between the PS4/PC libraries than between One/PC. Plus more Xbox One "exclusives" may end up on PC that we don't even know about (i.e. Sam Lake stating that he wants to put QB on PC).

Great exclusives are far and inbetween these days. Pretty soon consoles will compete with hardware and features, which is fine by me. I find exclusives to be a tad anti consumer.

If I'd buy an Xbone now I'd get Sunset Overdrive, Tomb Raider, Killer Instinct and that Rare collection. No reason to get multiplats for it if you have a PS4 or a capable PC.

Well I have roughly 34 retail games I've bought, numerous digital, PSN+/Live incentive games and 2 game plan with Gamefly.

It's no wonder I haven't played a PC game in a couple years.

Well I find enough to play on all 3 consoles to justify their existence in my home entertainment collection. Everybody is different I guess.

Also this probably isn't the place to get impartial advice if that is what you are truly seeking. All you will get here is the herd filing in one after another telling you how great the PS4 is. And the PC people telling you how consoles suck and the only real way to game is on the PC.

Well I have no idea why you would buy both consoles yet own nothing exclusive for either, there's plenty of good 'exclusive' games for both consoles to total something substantial enough between the two, yet you own none?

These are just the ones I own, there are more, I don't know how you can't find anything out of what is available of interest, I just don't see how that is possible.

@joe_b1_kenobi: Based on your list, you are better off playing on PC as all those games are much better on PC. In general, most people who own both consoles (myself included), buy them because they don't want to miss out on exclusives. I always recommend PC as the primary platform and getting consoles as a secondary if there are exclusives that you really want. It would be much better if everything was just on PC and there were no exclusives. Unfortunately, exclusives are a reality due to corporate greed and wanting to have control over a closed platform.

@joe_b1_kenobi: its no ones fault but your own if you havent played the exclusives. PS4 has Knack, Killzone Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Infamous Second Son, Littlebigplanet 3, Everybody's Gone To The Rapture, The Order: 1886, Bloodborne, Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection and Until Dawn. X

Xbox One has Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Halo: Master Chief Collection, Halo 5, Forza Motorsport 5, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rare Replay, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Gears Ultimate Edition.

If none of these games appeal to you, maybe you're just too picky cuz there's a damn variety of games here. Although some of them suck for sure, but still.

Why? I mean really they have more variety than Wii U IMO.

Super Mario Bros U, New Super Luigi U, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker, Shovel Knight, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Wooly World, Runbow, Captain Toad are all some sort of 2D or 3D cartoon platformer. Some of them aren't very good either,

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Mario Party 10, Fatal Frame V: Maiden of Blackwater, Devil's Third are meh too.

Of course you have Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros for Wii U, but its the same old that you know what you're getting and you expect those titles. Your only options for 3D action games are Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2, which to mean aren't that exciting as I don't really care for hack n slash (never really cared for God of War or Devil May Cry, either).

At least Splatoon was a nice try at something new. and of course Xenoblade Chronicles X is decent from what I've heard. Pikmin 3 is fun too.

So yeah I mean I guess Nintendo has way more exclusives but the variety isn't really there, some of them were lowly rated, and I personally don't like quite a few of them. Plus, Wii U was out for a whole year before PS4 and Xbox One. and PS4 and Xbox One are getting a huge amount of exclusive content this year and in 2017, which is basically the equivalent to the time Wii U got Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles X (probably the 5 best games on the console).

I'm not even trying to compare them to the Wii U (though there's way more quality exclusive stuff on the Wii U side; really, the Wii U's problem is not exclusive content, but just the tiny library overall). Those lists are super mediocre without bringing the Wii U into it. When the likes of Knack, The Order, Driveclub, Killzone are staples of the PS4 library and one of the most compelling things on Xbone is a collection of old games, you know there's a problem.

That being said, I know from first hand experience that Bloodborne's amazing and Ori looks like a lovely game.

@GreySeal9: I think some of the best games on ps4 are infamous second son, bloodborne, until dawn and driveclub. I think some of the best games on Xbox one are sunset overdrive, rise of the tomb raider, halo 5, Ori and the blind forest and forza horizon 2. I personally think sunset overdrive and tomb raider are 2 of the best games across all 3 consoles that I've played in a long while.

I feel like your lists are a little biased against ps4 and xbox one there. You deliberately picked games that got flack or low reviews and picked at remaster collections.

I didn't make any lists though.

I also didn't deliberately pick games that got low reviews (I acknowledged Bloodborne's greatness after all). I'm just saying that mediocre games make up too much of the exclusives library right now. After you take out the mediocre stuff and the remasters, there's not a lot left.

I did list those games, but I wasn't arguing that they are the only exclusives on PS4. What I'm arguing is that because there is such a small amount of exclusives on PS4, these games end up being some of its main staples. When the PS4 amasses a bigger and better exclusive library, this will not be the case, but right now they make up a big portion of the library. They can't simply be dismissed even if people won't give a flying **** about them down the road.

I know that the exclusive library will improve over time, but it's just not very good right now.

Also, I didn't say that MCC was the best game on Xbox. I said that it is one of the most compelling things on the system. To be fair, I may be biased in that regard because I'm a pretty big Halo fan, but even lems argue that MCC is one of the best reason to get an Xbone.

I'd be hard pressed to not find enough games on each system to warrant buying them and feeling satisfied. My problem is having the time to play them all, and knowing that I don't, I won't buy both of them (or possibly either of them, given my capable-enough PC). Even where exclusives are concerned I'm sure there's hundreds of hours of gameplay to entertain yourself with.

The only game in that list you NEEDED one of those consoles for was Master Chief Collection.

You could have saved yourself all that money and just got them on PC.

@GreySeal9: you listed knack, killzone, driveclub and the order and said the best game on xbox one is a collection of old games.

They can't simply be dismissed even if people won't give a flying **** about them down the road.

maybe, i really like Halo 5 though. Breakout goes hard in that game.

When people think of PS4, they're not thinking of any of those games you listed so I doubt thats true. They're thinking of the major third party titles from last year and maybe Bloodborne. For now, PS4 is in sync with third party games. But Uncharted 4, Dreams, Horizon Zero Dawn, No Mans Sky, Detroit, Ratchet and Clank, Wild and others should change that fairly quickly.

Yes, when people think of the PS4 in general, they're think of 3rd party stuff, but that's partly because the exclusive library is so poor at the moment. When you think of PS4 exclusives only, those lackluster games undoubtedly make up a big chunk of it.

I agree that the exclusive library will improve, but I don't think there's anything controversial about looking at what's on offer right now and saying, "That's not a very good exclusive library."

PS4 is all you need to keep in terms of consoles, sell your xbox one and use a PC since all xbox games are already on PC or coming soon to PC anyways unless you really want that declining franchise called halo

I own all systems because I want to be able to play all games whenever I want. Simple. I can't imagine a game I'm interested in getting released and I can't play it because I don't own the according system. It's not like any of those except a high end PC are expensive anyway. An XBone or a PS4 is like 2 days of work. I'm more that willing to spend that on my hobby.
