We should also realise that had it not been for the 05 launch the console wouldve NEVER taken off.
M$ curse you for the RRoD plague.
All X360 owners who got RRoD should UNITE and SUE M$ for releasing defective consoles. 8)dr_jashugan
Though a Spring 06 launch wouldve been good, more time to iron out issues with hardware, a much better lineup games, much greater chance at Japan (with DOA4, Enchanted Arms and a few more titles) and importantly much more supply
[QUOTE="Dante865"][QUOTE="Zhengi"]It's very likely to never go away cause even MS doesn't know what the cause of the RROD is.Zhengi
I dont know why, but that made me laugh - Microsoft ..... does NOT know what the cause of RRoD is.
Microsoft... one of the most powerful, successful companies in history - LMAO.
That's what people who work for MS have said over the last year.
Dude, they got rid of the VERY problem with Jasper:|I know how bad the problem is with the RROD, you also get alot of people saying that 'they havn't ever experienced it', but I'm going to be honest and say that I have only experienced it once and it was my fault (I spilt water on it - lol).
I have had 3 360's. One was a replacment for my RROD'd one and the other was just to purchase the elite, and selling my second one to my friend. I guess you can call me lucky, but I think its just a matter of taking care of it, i.e cooling, dust etc.
I have had a few friends that have experienced it though, but so far so good for me.
I've had RRoD 36 times. I bought a mini refrigerator and keep my 360 in it while I play. It's worked pretty well so far. If you don't want to get the extra refrigerator, you can use your 360 to heat your house this winter and save on electric bills.ownage_denied
random chance
I haven't had any problems since my disk drive would sometimes jam back in august 2006.
Yeah, it does need to stop. I've had 3 RROD's in the space of under a year. It's pathetic, a 3 year warranty is nowhere near enough. What really anoys me is the MS enthusiasts who try to downplay it and pretend it's not a problem anymore.Floppy_Jim
Are those New 60Gb ones still prone to the RROD?
My Elite broke just like my 20Gb one
Tough part is that I live in the caribbean, SO I have to have it sent there out of my own pocket
What is up with people getting RROD? They say they take care of it and they still get RROD?
All of my cousins got it and they are in Canada, my 360 is hardly taken care of, its in my living room, on my stand next to my PS3 perfectly free. Also its near the fireplace, and I on the fireplace often.
Some people:roll:
EDIT: I have an old 20GB Premium Model from June '07 (Thats when I bought it from a guy but he had his since January '07)
I wonder where the lems were when I had that thread about RROD still affecting 16% of consoles compared to PS3 and Wii's 3%. It's like they're in denial or something.

The article I posted was written last month and it also described a cl@ss action suit against MS that started Oct 17th.So I guess you can tell that to all the people suing.

I don't know about patterns and all but my 3 month old 360 is starting to freeze all of a sudden in the past week. It has happened 3 times now. This happened with my 1st 360 before it crapped out. I'm loosing respect for Sony and Microsoft this gen big-time.
The problem with RROD is that when you send it in to get it fixed they just send you a refurbished one back that went through exactly the same thing previously and it will no doubt get RROD again. (Granted one of my 360s I got back hasn't yet and my other newer model hasn't either although both are without HDMI so they are both fairly old.)
I got mines when Gears 2 came out. Still no signs of RROD whatsoever. Too bad for you but at least it's a free fix.
But yeah, I doubt RROD will ever go away.
Mine is from march 2006 , i have a Nyko fan attached to it for extra cooling .
Friends told me the fan was dangerous and a extra hazard but in time they all got the RODD , some more that once and mine is still going strong !
Maybe i am double lucky .
This why u dont post RROD issues in SW.. "and this is the reason i switched over to a ps3. i was on my 3rd one and i said **** it, i'm not putting up with this BS anymore. now my 360 collects dust and my ps3 gets all the attention"amazingtrolland you think i'm lying? look at my profile. my gamer card is right there...
Maybe if you didn't play so many games, this wouldn't happen :x I mean, look at your gamerscore! I am humbled :PAltAccti agree an xbox addict
Mine died when I was in the middle of playing fable 2.Gh0st_Of_0nyx
Mine locked up while playing Fable 2 last night, but was due to the infamous 'corrupt save file' glitch that Fable 2 has. Great game, but it has literal system breaking bugs in it. So far, my 360 seems ok, but I am not touching Fable 2 again until they get a patch for it.....if at all.
After doing some research, I found that there are multitudes of folks who not only encountered numerous game breaking glitches, but had Fable 2 crash their system entirely. Just look on the Fable 2 forum here, or have a look over on Lionhead's forum, and you will see.
I had made up my mind that Fable 2 was more than likely going to be my personal game of the year. However, after encountering this issue, and seeing nearly 30 hours of gameplay go down the drain, I think the 8.5 GS gave it was more than justified. I love the game, but at this point, I will probably end up selling it.
TC, were you by any chance playing Fable 2 when your system bit the dust?
[QUOTE="st1ka"]i never got the RROD but yeah i agre this issue needs to disapear SolidTy
That's amazing. You got one of the Super models. My buddy did too. He bought one in late 2006 for GeoW, and he just hasn't had issues. He's my only real friend that has been so fortunate. My cousin's, Brother, and buddies, not so lucky.
The crappy thing is right now, I am leading them, and I am super clean, and my house stays cool.
Did you do anything special to preserve it?
Yep I brought one as well in late 2006 (December) for gears of war and it still hasn't got RROD.

I feel your pain chap, my second 360 decided to lunch it's gpu last night, garbled display followed by E74 error and single red light  Just as I picked up Fable and Fallout aswell.
I love the 360 but the hardware is utter garbage, it really is. Picked up an arcade today bundled with Fable 2 (PC World for the UK'ers) which I sold to a friend so all in it cost me £100. I'm going to try and get the dead one repaired or failing that use my rights under the Sale of Goods act (again. Did this with the first one) Both machines lasted about 18 months.
yeah this issue needs to dissapear. I had 2 RRoDs on my launch console. They send me a brand new (read: different) model this time. It's more quiet than the previous consoles I had. I hope it's gone now.
So, I talked to M$, and they said expect a box within 5 days. She told me that due to the inconvience of the hardware Failure (I felt like she was avoideing the word RROD the entire conversation.) M$ was prepared to give me upon my consoles return, a FREE ONE MONTH XBOX LIVE GOLD CARD!
I told here, that my console will be gone 4-6 weeks (Not to mention shipping etc.), and I have been an XBOX Live Member since launch, and that if it took SIX WEEKS to fix, I would be getting ripped off.
I said, if It's repaired in 4 weeks or less, then M$ has just REPLACED MY XBOX LIVE Subscription already ini progress.
She said, that's all she would and could do for someone that suffered RROD 3 times, but that it was a good compensation. I told here that her good compensation's value was $7.99 retail, and possibly Free on their end. She asked if there was anything else.(I didn't want to tell her what I did for a living or threaten, I just wanted to measure her/M$ goodwill)
So much for the AMAZING M$ service people brag about on here. Still, It will be interesting to see how long repairs take.
I had 3 break in under 2 years which is why I traded my 4th for a PS3. I loved the 360 but its not worth the hassle when you can have a PS3 without the worries.wooooode
There's Talk that the 2009 model's are getting revamped, but it's hush, hush. We'll see. Xmas 2009 marks the 360's 4th year.
Is there a way to determine whether your 360 is prone to the RROD. I'm so scared about getting it and I've been putting extended playing time into it. I played and beat Fable 2. I've been playing Dead Space and Fallout 3 (for a few hours at a time) and all this extended playing time has been within a few weeks. I haven't even picked up GeoW2 yet (still debating between this a R2). I'm so scared that whenever I hear the disk spinning more rapidly, it might get a RROD. I love my games but I'm in constant fear whenever I'm not immersed enough. tmntPunchout
My cousin turned me on to the idea of playing Multiplats on PS3, to exten the 360's lifecycle.

Yeah, that what one of my cousins is doing as well. I'm usually indifferent about which console to get multiplats for and I usually just choose a version at the spur of the moment. But thinking about it, if you're just extending the life, isn't it still prone to get the RROD eventually or will all older consoles get them eventually. My 360 was from last holiday season if that makes a difference.

I just hope it all simmers down, so we can all focas on gaming! :)
I also got an Elite unit with the E-74 bug, but I turned it off and waited for a week, and it went away (Then promply sold it to a friend for half price). Anyways, I have noticed this keeps happening about one year from when I get a new one. What blows is this particular model is a HALO model, so I don't want M$ to screw the pooch on returning it.
The question is, are you guys noticing a pattern with RROD? I have a few buddies that are saying that they believe that RROD may go away, but get replaced by other issues (E- series problems. I have also read that it comes down to Heat, and the reduced nano sized transistors aren't going to prevent the heat like we expect.
When I got this model, I really thought the problem was nearly gone (After all, I have had RROD twice before), and I thought that the HALO model would somehow be immune.
Anyone have any cooling suggestions that have been EFFECTIVE? It's the heat, it warps the Board.
To answer some questions that may arise :
I keep all of my system's really clean, and dust free.
I have it in a well ventilated area.
I game on PS3 and Wii as well, so the 360 gets breaks from gaming.
I never leave it on overnight (Although I did that by accident with the PS3 one night, I fell asleep in the livingroom).
I never move it, for transport, it stay on a glass shelf.
I also have another 360, which takes time away from this one, giving it further breaks.
