I know why the Wii is selling so well.

I have true factual evidence.

First of all, many GC owners are embarassed to own a GC and they know how much it sucked, so therefore since they dont have anything really exciting to play on GC they are quickly crossing over to the Wii. The PS2 and Xbox are still worth playing because they have a larger library of games and online play and these owners dont feel the need to rush and buy a new console until more games comes out and price drops.

Second, casuals and Wiisports. Wiisports is all they are going to play. They dont care about Zelda, Metroid, SSBB, RE UC, etc. They just care about bowling and swinging that Wiimote to hit a homer. They dont know why they are buying a Wii, they want that fun in Wiisports nothing more.

Third, ingenious false hype from Nintendo. Claiming this Wiimote is like the second coming of the Almighty. By stating the Wiimote is much superior than a traditional pad and allows for a more fun way to play. So far the Wiimote has not proved a thing unless you love those minigames.

Fourth, People see the $250 price tag and look at MS and Sony systems and freak out. These people actually believe they are getting the graphics of the 360 or PS3 in the Wii because its a new console only being sold for cheaper. Image the sadness they feel when getting home and playing it. A few people I knew thought the Wii offered true next gen graphics because it was a "new" system but they were wrong. Gotta pay extra for that HD graphics.

Fifth, They hear about this online stuff and automically assume it is gonna be like Live or Home. Only to be dissapointed when you need Friend Codes and so far no Wii games have been online.

Sixth, No parent or guardian will spend $400+ so their kids can play video games. Those kids are probably a little sad recieving a Wii when they see a 360 or PS3 game running on their older cousin's HDTV.

Seventh, the whole premisis of the Wii. Appealing to casuals of all ages with cheaply made minigames.

Last, People are just mainly buying it for Wiisports just to have a 3 week honeymoon with fun. Plus the attach rate for 3rd party Wii games is just poor. Not to mention hardcore Wii owners are starved for games so much that they have to lower their standards and choose the Wii version of Splinter Cell Double Agent over the 360 or PS3 one. Not to mention the games so far for the Wii suck and the 360 is far superior. Dont give me this Wiimote is all about the gameplay crap cuz the gameplay on Wii is beyond terrible.

You are clearly mistaking me for new games coming out for last gen systems. I said the PS2 and XBOX have a lot of old games to offer to you at nice prices and these games are seemed cool, in touch with the crowd, has online play, etc. Many people with XBOX are still playing Halo 1 and 2 online, Tom Clancy games online, and many more such as Conker. The same is with the PS2 so these people dont need to cross to new systems so quickly. In fact these people are waiting for price drops and for more games to be available.

The GC has nothing worth playing now since it is not cool and does not have any online games to boost up the long living factor of the game. If the GC had online and many 3rd party games that do not suck then many of these owners would hold off buying a Wii, but since the GC sucked so bad they need something to compensentate for it.

What the Wii does that the 360 & PS3 doesn't is actually get gamers out of their lounge chair and in front of the T.V. to get involved in a game. Whether it Wii Sport or Madden 07. They are rolling, throwing and controlling the action on the screen. This is not only fun for the whole family, but also provides some much need exercise to kids and adults as well.

1. the xbox was dead pretty early on. the ps2 is not dead as well yet ps3 sales are still less than everything.
2. wii attach rate is about 4. so you're theory is proven wrong.
3. Second coming hype? i think you're thinking of that ps3 commercial with the kids looking to the sky.
4. These people don't care about the graphics. and Nintendo isn't even claiming anything about graphics.
5. Casuals haven't heard much about online.
6. this is 2 issues in this one. I agree that parents don't want a 400+ system for kids. I disagree that most kids would care that much about HDTV. only

Also its cheap enough that alot of gamers (myself included as of Friday, finally found one at Sams Club! - have yet to set it up yet though) its a great secondary console. It has an entirely different range of games, which are also especially fun for parties or family get togethers!

I dont buy a system to play only 3 games that take forever to come out. I need a constant flow of good games coming out. The GC was just a drought and its multiplat games were alot worse than the other systems.

That really explains how many people here (and in the real world) replay the MANY great games gamecube had. Zelda is a GC port, SPM whatever you wanna believe it it is a Wii game but as far as the graphics goes it's the same as TYD for GC. Madden yeha its superrior, Wario Ware = mini games. Great Sales =The small price tag. Great Future lineup, hell yeah. CAn't wait for SSBB.

Attacking the Wii is completely pathetic. Like someone said here a few days ago, there are 2 CONSOLES that offer the same type of games, aside from exclusives from each. There are 2 CONSOLES that are extremely powerful. There are 2 CONSOLES that are competing against each other. At the end,

Nintendo is the only console offering something different.

You want extreme/traditional 3rd party games?....go buy and rely on the 360/PS3 or upgrade to a gaming PC. 

You want Nintendo games/simplistic games/quirky games?.....Get a Wii. 

I could say the same for :cry: Sheep who are begging for more 3rd party games for Wii.....Go buy a PC/360 or PS3.

not that i want to fuel the anti-wii fire, but spm (which was a great game) is also merely a gc port. they were going to release it on the gc but it died before they could get the game out the door.

but seriously, the wii has a ton of good games on the horizon:

super mario galaxy, metroid prime 3, super smash brothers: brawl, manhunt 2, no more heroes, resident evil: uc, resident evil 4 wii edition (yeah, yeah, yeah, a gc port), final fantasy: cc, dragon quest swords, battalion wars ii, etc., etc.

Developers are going towards the success of the Wii, not the failure of the PS3. Heck, third parties are  selling better on the Wii than on the PS3... And the Wii didn't start "4 inches ahead", it's just plain
