I think it's criminal that ME1 isn't available for PS3. It's what made ME2 epic

Okay, now before ya'll debate this, ME1, imo, was a pretty good game. Nothing amazing, but I really enjoyed it.

However, transerfing my data to the 2nd one made the sequal one of the most compelling games. If it wasn't for all the references, ME2, though still great, probably wouldn't have been as epic to me.

I feel like ME is a must to play the second, but I guess some can look past it. I however can't. If I am going to play 2, I have to play 1.

I think its sorta wack that all the people who played the ME series keep going on about this we get a new and fresh introductionary system where we can understand the story and exclusive content plus some DLC, iam happy with that.

It's definitely a major loss, considering how sick the story in the first was. Hopefully they take care to flesh out the story for PS3 users.

I just hope they give a way to say what choices you would have made in the 1st. The default is not at all like how I played.

ME 2 is one of the best games of all time, playing Mass Effect 1 has no considerable impact in the overall quality.

If I was a Ps3 only owner, I'd rather have ME1 than ME2. ME1 was the better game.

Well they promised an introductory that would take care of that problem. Hopefully it will be good enough because I'm bummed that I won't be able to play the first either.

well it depends on MS and I doubt they will allow ME1 to come to the ps3 we should wait for Bioware though and see what they do, they did promise something to fill the events form the 1st game, and they are a good developer so people can rest assured that they will do a proper job

I have to disagree. You don't understand the relationships that are already formed. You don't get inside jokes, you don't get to see the impact of decisions already made. Plus if ME3 does end up on the ps3, you didn't start the story from the beginning. No simple intro could replace the 30+ hours of gameplay and decision from the first. Go play any video game and have someone play the first 1/3 of it for you, see how that feels.

I can see EA just making a massive intro movie that will explain all of Mass Effect epicly and then just drop the player off into Mass Effect 2. I mean, sure, it would've been more epic to play it but you can blame Bioware for having Microsoft publish the first one.

form what I've read they hold some rights from the 1st game. Don't know what exactly. But maybe Bioware will find a road, like NGS2. But I don't think EA want to make that

It's so sick to see the repurcussions of your actions though... , not to mention ME1 being such a fantastic introduction to the universe. It's a big deal, but people will be able to get over it fine provided Bioware properly intros the first game.

The difference in the details though is that Sony owns the Resistance IP as well as consequently having the publishing rights. While it appears Microsoft controls and retains some publishing rights, BioWare/EA own the Mass Effect IP. As such they could potentially produce a sufficiently different version of ME1 and EA could publish it - in the same way as NGS was made - but it probably isn't worth it economically.

Yeah Bioware did say they will try to give a good introduction to the universe and provide a lot of back-story and introduce you well to the story-arc, and hopefully they can get some choices in there too.

For some reason my whole post is italicized lol.

No, the vastly improved control, the lack of a loot syestem, way better framerate, arguably better characters, and all that made it Epic.

It's tragic, but they'll have to make do with it. ME2 is great, but ME1 is where all of the excitement began. I couldn't imagine playing me2 before me1, let alone skip me1 entirely.

Honestly, if they REALLY wanna play it or know the story, they will find a way to play the first game or they will go on the internet to get the storyline of the first game.

I am tired of hearing the same complaints about ME not being on the PS3. ME2 is a perfectly enjoyable game without playing the 1st. I would know because I never played the first game. It is very easy watch Youtube recaps and read all the plot spoilers.

ME2 is a great game by itself and I am sure that Bioware will make a great ME1 intro for this game-- possibly an interactive intro that allows one to make the necessary decisions from game 1.

You guys need to quit complaining about this-- be greatful they are putting it on the PS3 because it will hopefully give them more financial resources to throw into future ME games.

So far all you guys who are on the fence, ME2 is a great game without playing the 1st game. It is very easy to get a recap of the 1st game without actually playing it, and there is a sizeable group of people who actually hated the 1st game but really liked the 2nd game.

I agree...I lost my save file for ME1, and started 2 from scratch....after a while, I decided, what the hell...replayed ME1 (not that I'm complaining...it's an awesome game :P) and was actually suprised how ME2 plays out when you import your save (other than story alterations and a few cameos, you also get bonuses for achievements unlocked in ME1). Although I'm sure PS3 owners will get some sort of compensation :D.

Sorry, but watching "Youtube" videos does not compare to playing the first. IDC if you say, "but, but, it is still more enjoyable." It may be, but it is much more enjoyable after playing the first. Either way your missing out on ME, which is a fantastic game.

Yeah, I could see Microsoft saying something to keep ME away from the PS3.

EA would have to pay Microsoft a ton of cash to be able to port it, but I don't think any amount of money could convince Microsoft to allow ME on a competitor's console.

Personally felt the impact of ME1 into ME2s universe was either shoe horned in for the "OMG MY CHOICES MEANT SOMETHING" or were just too small scale to even be important or worthy of note. I like that it's meant to bridge one cohesive plot, but eh I don't see it as "criminal" Either way Mass Effect 2 was the much better game. Narrative wise it's on a smaller scale, but a better cast of characters and way better gameplay experience.

Microsoft doesn't mind a game going to Windows, but it would object to a game going to a competitor's console.

So what is stopping EA from porting ME1 to PS3 by letting Demiurge do it? They never told what the extra content is for all we know it's ME1 on the same disc. The change is small but you never know.
