Anyway, how duplicitous and petty console plebian filth are is amusing.seanmcloughlin

Remember, everyone... PC gamers are only called elitists because they back up their arguments with facts and figures.

Didn't you say you only post in these types of threads because you have relevant info regarding the topic? yet here you are with your fist post just blatantly calling people out.

And this isn't a thread where figures are needed. But the facts are there, most games shown that are multiplats were running on PC according to the devs of the games. Any of the games people were trending anyway. Only console game worth a mention was the last of us.

No. I call out other people for claiming to do that... and then not. I'm not claiming to be perfect, or superior, or a member of a master race - I'm just pointing out the inaccuracy of others' claims, in this case specifically the old saw that being called elitist is only due to knowing what you're talking about. Generally, I'm quite careful not to advance any specific position as being unarguably correct at all, because that would leave me open to the same criticism.

What's so bad with Windows ?

ZombieKiller7

Could write a book.

I like to take things slower and own my stuff for longer.

Like instead of having well-written code running on a single core, they write spaghetti code in some high level language where you need a quad-core, and it's only to drum up business for these shifty asian hardware companies, who in turn drum up business for Windows, and it's like a pyramid scheme.

With Linux and Mac when you own something you can use it for many years and it never lags or hangs, it doesn't get slower every month, and doesn't take you 20 seconds to make a mouse click.

Alot of times I've taken a PC that runs painfully slow, put Linux on it and suddely it's like a new PC, and it keeps staying that way.

I have Linux boxes on the internet I setup 8 years ago sitting in a closet, and they're still up.

Windows is trash.

Microsoft is trash.

I think its time for you to get a new computer if it takes 20 seconds to make a mouse click lol.

First of all, no. It's the punishment for losing a SW bet.

Basic debate asks that you provide evidence for your assertions. Considering you can't do that, means you're a f*cking idiot.

ZombieKiller7

Grow up.

"Console suck" Give me evidence

"PC suck" give me evidence

"Halo > UC" give me evidence

Yeah no, I understand those debate tactics but I won't honor them, nor you.

You can discuss things with me or piss off and those are your only choices.

I'd invite you to point out what part of my post was incorrect... but apparently you hide from dissent behind a filter.

While we're at it, if you'd like to see some solid-gold greatest-hits elitism, head over to the Battlelog forums right now. You've got the Premium haves referring to the have-nots as "filthy peasants" (sound familiar?) while the have-nots propose auto-kicks (at least one server is kicking premiums already). It's all reminiscent of the auto-kicks for TF2 players with the Mac earbuds in their inventory. Tigers don't change their stripes, folks.

Again, feel free to point out the part that's trolling. Saying something that you don't like is not the same thing. Trolling is posting statements intended solely to annoy or to disrupt discussion (i.e. gif spamming).

Too bad everything Linux related sucks. Software support, hardware support is even worse (Unopitimized 64bit FTW I guess.)

Nothing Linux related could appeal to me at all from a user or developer standpoint. If you're happy using 10-15 year old stone age hardware, fine, be that way. But I choose to be on the bleeding edge of tech and no one but Microsoft provides me with such a thing.

Have you seen iPad sales?

ZombieKiller7

I did, they're fraction (a small one of PC sales). PC sales are still growing year by year. What's more, the high-end pcgmign hardware is the quickest growing part of the whole PC market.

All respectable analysts predict PCs will be shipping half billion units annually in few years and when that happens there will be 2 billion PCs in use worldwide.

Fact is, no matter how well iPad or other tablets will do. PCs are now more popular than ever and their popularity will only grow and so will gaming support. Even if in 10 years tablets will be selling more than PCs, there will still be more games being made on PCs than ever before.

Simply put, mobile systems' popularity won't change growing popularity of PCs. it's as simple as that. A market with half billion units sold each year will always get insane developers support.

Windows 7 is perfectly fine, I think you have Vista.

I'm not a huge Linux fan, other then it's free. Never really tried Mac, pay for each upgrade...

So you would be satisfied with a single core chip? And that 20 seconds thing can be solved by simply defragging or getting an SSD.

Every single PC manufacturer reports that desktop PC demand is at its lowest point in history.

That includes Dell and HP.

I'm willing to entertain the idea that hardcore PC gaming /might/ be growing but mainstream desktop computing has been shrinking for almost a decade now and no real hope of ever being relevant again.

I'd be satisfied if upgrades were my choice instead of someone else's, and if every piece of software written for Windows wasn't a bloated piece of schit.

And the "20 second thing" is usually an oversize registry.

Right now DX and Live aren't integrated.

Mobile is where the industry's going, for better or worse.

ZombieKiller7

Mobile is irrelevant to the state of pc industry, especially pcgaming sector. PC is only going to continue to become stronger and more popular. Mobile's growth won't change that.

Also..Microsoft lacks the strenght to enforce anything in PCgaming or pc as a whole. Unless people themselves choose an option MS won't be able to push anything. Even if MS would try to enforce Live (which they can't, both technically and legally) through DX devs would just switch back to OpenGL

You're on drugs.

Have you seen iPad sales?

It's desktop computing that is irrelevant to the state of the PC.

PC gamers are like mountain people from The Hills have Eyes who occaisionally get spotted near civilization but for the most part live in the wilderness, oblivious to the changes happening everywhere.

Many offices these days in big cities don't even use Windows anymore, do you realize that?

´

Tablet sales are big because it's a new market. Obviously it will grow, most people still don't have a tablet! But everyone has a PC or laptop, so obviously it doesn't grow as much.

Not sure what you're on to with Windows not being used in many offices. Maybe some offices don't use it due to being in a very narrow and specific industry, but 99% of the corporate world relies on Windows+Office. And that won't change any time soon.

It's not necessary to use Live to be using DX, currently.

you think pc gamers will suddenly start paying for something thats beenfree for years?

something like that will just never work...you can control console gamers...not PC gamers.[/QUOTE

I agree. Sure what Zombiekiller says is partly true, it will be forced upon us but we won't bend over and take it. PC gamers will never accept paying for online

Agree. And I pretty much only play BF3 MP. But the day I have to pay for it is the day I'll find another hobby.

Upgrades are your choice you could still be rocking Windows XP with a duo. No one is forcing anything, you are just blaming them because you think you "have" to keep everything up-to-date. There is only one instance that I can see where they basically smoke you out of your current OS and that is DirectX.

Pretty much yeah.

XP was the only flavor of Windows I liked and I had to upgrade for DX.

Would have happily kept using DOS umpteen years ago if it was an option.

It's the registry bloat.

People install/uninstall everything they see, then they call me "oh my PC is running slow."

I get there and it takes 3 minutes to load all the schit in the taskbar, right click and nothing's happening.

She thought it was a virus. I was like "no, you're the virus" and charged them 4 hours for a Windows re-install along with a bunch of stupid apps.

I don't touch windows unless you pay me.

But if you pay me I can fix anything.

Get the f*k out of here, i've had Windows XP SP3 for 2 and a half years with AVG installed, and never had a problem with it. But unlike you, i performed maintenance once a month (defrag, cleaning registry, spyware, malware scans, etc.).

Get the f*k out of here, i've had Windows XP SP3 for 2 and a half years with AVG installed, and never had a problem with it. But unlike you, i performed maintenance once a month (defrag, cleaning registry, spyware, malware scans, etc.)

I don't have problems.

I have preferences and admire OS that are elegant and robust and well-designed.

Windows is strictly garbage for the masses.

I don't have the slightest issue with your preferances in OSs, i've seen Windows have a bad reputation amongst many people that have used different operating systems. I was perplexed by that statement you said about taking 20 seconds to make a mouse click. I've seen my fair share of PCs literally infested with viruses and errors at the hand of children and parents that never knew how to take care of their piece of hardware & software. I don't know, maybe on a ancient piece with dying hardware and a massively chocked OS, that time frame between mouse clicks could possibly happen.

PC gaming got ignored by everybody = PC gaming won E3

Good job

There are dozens, if not hundreds pcgames being shown at this year's E3 :] And that's a console-centric show

After seeing watch dogs and 1313. I decided to build a pc. Just bought my case from newegg so I'm locked in now. Getting my i7 3770k next week. its gonna be a tough since this is my first time building a pc but its gonna be worth it. Btw , can any pc people guide me where to go as far as graphics cards and all that jazz? Whatever works with the i7 3770k. I really have no idea what I'm doingultraking

Go to CHD forum, give them your budget and components you need, and they'll help you...

And just to point you in a right direction, there are much better CPU options than a I7-3770K if gaming is the only thing you do.That CPU is too much for gaming, definitely not worth the high price, since it offers almost no performance improvements in games compared to a I5 series, which is more cost friendly...

Go with I5-2500K or I5-3570K,both are great and very popular among PC gamers, since they offer great performance. That saves you over 100$,which can be used on more poweful GPU,which is the most important part of a gaming PC...

Every single PC manufacturer reports that desktop PC demand is at its lowest point in history.

ZombieKiller7

I'm sorry, but this is pure nonsense..."lowest point in history"? lmao.... so you're saying those companies were selling more desktop PCs twenty years ago? Right..

Even your ridiculous overexagarations aside...what does that have to do with anything? All those manufacturers sell pre-built PCs..ie..ones that people do not user for gaming. Gamers eithert build their own rigs or pay shops to do that. And the demand for high end PC gamign hardware is currentlty at it's highest point in history and shows no signs of slowing down.

What's more...you seem to be living in a tech bubble that's 5 years behind the curve. Many current laptops have no problems running most modern pc games and their power is only growing. Laptop gaming is booming.

Sure. Afterall, the only games that didn't invoke "meh..." when it comes to graphics this year at E3 were pc games.

Ah I see yet another Thread where ZombieKiller7 has been talking out his arse again?

Tell ya what zombie, because you wish for something doess'nt make it true.

Go research the current gaming spectrum, before you talk, and when you have done just that swallow that pride you are bound to express with the words I can almost see comming "only the US matters to gaming" but in the US PC gaming is nearly as big as console gaming, the rest of the world, is abandoning the consoles where ever Ive been, read, or heard, Mainland Europe, and Asia.

Only cold hard facts can be proof, personal preferences are moot. And since gaming PCs are sold as much as they are, its safe to say that a whole lot of people, are tired of the closed platform, which takes away all freedom of the gamer. And kills creativity, weve seen enough Devs, who have said this now, that something must have gone horribly wrong in the console spoace.

And the second you unse false information, or use the infamous "IMO" whatever points you made, has been rendered pointless, since it was not a debate of personal preferences.

look it up, both AMD and Nvidia reguraly posts record breaks in sales of hardware ment for gaming. Aswell as the reports that have shown up on near monthly basis on SW, Honestly I have grown tired with peoples "out of sight, out of mind" attitude, so go look it up, its here on sw.

I can agree with that. Minus Last of Us, nothing really blew me away. Third party won this E3 and third party naturally is best on PC. Not only the quality of games that was shown this E3, but also the variety, whether you prefer sports, shooters, action adventure, sim stuff, etc.

Interestingly enough, which even matters how and why? What's big budget is almost universally multiplat bar an extreme minority of titles to push systems. And on the other side we have games like PlanetSide 2 with some of the most amazing scope and production values for a multiplayer game to date, which are free to play of all things on the PC. Because budget makes better games, right? Naw these arguments are so terrible they're almost adorable.

Fixed up, and you're missing other brilliant console titles which don't really get the limelight that could make a stronger case. What's prominent on the PC is on the show floor and in developer booths, and not during conferences where companies push software announcements to sell hardware units. It has been like that for over a decade.

Last of us, sure I'll give you that. AC III is coming to PC and will be better than its console counterpart. GOW:A didn't look all that great. Halo 4 I will also give you and rayman legends is a WiiU exclusive and no one has one of them yet, hard to claim ownage with it yet

And you're forgetting about others like Watch Dogs, Star Wars 1313, Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider, Metro Last light, Bioshock infinite, Planetside 2. All of these will be coming to PC too and will have better versions of them

Planetside 2 stage demo.

Easily my game of the show.

Yes, at first glance it looks genaric, but that's because they've molded the AAA quality shooting mechanics to their extremely unique MMOFPS. The depth is there, it just doesn't jump out at you. This actually makes it even better than you think as it's both deep but accessible, the perfect combination.

Though Assassin's Creed 3 is really putting up a tough fight for my personal game of the show.

bunch of opinions, who cares what you thought of GOW? my point is that all of the games shown will be available on console and are presented that way. most people don't care about maxing sh!t out. also, you talk about claiming ownage over a wiiu exclusive (supposedly), how can you claim ownage over ANY of these games? none of them have released, you have no clue how they'll be optimized.
