The game does NOT hold up well today.-PuLseFunny, I played it recently and had as much fun with it as I had back then. I loved WW, but the sailing was very tedious. And happened to be the main part of the game. OoT was better imo, and that's not nostalgia talking. Well, maybe a little. The dungeons were better, better characters, better bosses.

I don't see why the sailing gets a free ride in Zelda game discussions, it was incredibly repetitive at some points, that reason alone would make it worse then OOT, since OOT had no glaring problems.
Totally agree. Majora's Mask IS the best 3d Zelda game of all time. The side quests were just amazing.I agree, but honesly I think Majoras Mask was the best. An absolutely phenomenal sequel and it was the darkest themed Zelda :)

I'll respect your opinion, but I disagree whole heartedly, no Zelda game will top Ocarina of Time for me. My biggest issues with Wind Waker would be it's difficult as like you said.....but I love WW anyways, but I just like OoT a lot more. CleanPlayer
Wind waker is the easiest 3d zedal game. What the crap are you talking about? The game boy adavnace cable make it easier.
Wind Waker is also my favourite Zelda game as well. I just hate people that complain about its art style it works well for the game and makes it stand out and I felt the combat system was much better than Ocarina of Time.
No it isnt. honestly, no one is better equipped to judge how OoT is today except someone who is playing it for the first time ever. Everyone's opinion is automatically void if they played it first in 98/99/2000. I dotn care if they say "buh buh i went back and played it last month and its still amazing" they are blinded by nostalgia. OoT is a 6 or 7 by todays standards.... and just like that, I don't take you seriously. Who HONESTLY cares if someone played OOT in '98 or '99. Does that make their OPINION inferior to yours? If so, you should probably grow up.[QUOTE="789shadow"]
Answer: still great.

PS. I first played OOT in 2007, and I thought that it was an amazing game. So that "Blinded by Nostalgia"argument of yours is Null & Void. What do you think about THAT?

Yup, hands down my fav to. I just loved MM.
I enjoyed Wind Waker, but the main plot felt a little short for my taste. I enjoyed the sytlistic approach they took, but compared to other Zelda games, it was much too short.
Plus there's that whole "Transition to 3d" you felt when you played OOT. If you played Metroid Prime, its that same sorta feeling. once you've played it the 2nd & 3rd time in 3d "sorry Echos & Corruption", its not as exciting.
[QUOTE="DeathScape666"]Only counting the 3D Zelda games, here are my favorites: 1. Twilight Princess 2. Majora's Mask 3. Ocarina of Time 4. The Wind Waker 5. Phantom Hourglass789shadow
PH isn't 3D.....
Meh, I'd say it plays more like a 3D Zelda game, despite having a top-down view. It certainly seems different than the 2D Zelda games, that is for sure.[QUOTE="789shadow"][QUOTE="DeathScape666"]Only counting the 3D Zelda games, here are my favorites: 1. Twilight Princess 2. All the 3D Zeldas after OoT surpassed it. The reason people still place OoT on this pedestal is because of one thing...
Nostalgia
The game does NOT hold up well today.
Yes it does. /threadAmazing arguement sir. You have totally opened my eyes on the eternal greatness of OoT. Along with FFVII, they are the best games evar!Well, it does hold up. I got it on the VC, and I had never played it before. Quite simply an amzing game, I'd actually play that over a lot of modern games that recieve lots of praise. Also, I finished Twilight Princess faster than I did Wind Waker. I didn't think it was short at all. In fact, I'm not even finished yet (I only got it sometime ago, maybe a few months). I'm still hunting down the Triforce shards, which I CANNOT find. I think I may have to use a game guide, I suck at adventure games...All the 3D Zeldas after OoT surpassed it. I dont see how what he said its true, and I dont see why a game has to "hold up today"? being what? 5 years older than wind waker? on release, nostalgia or not, Zelda OOT was amazing, its ending was great, its world, its themes.. If we want to play itfrom his perspective, then wind waker failed to "hold up" the release day that I bought it and completed it (week). WW being more "playable" does not make it better.Agreed. As a game id say Wind Waker is better than OoT, and its one of my top games of all time (as is OoT).
The misconception that Wind Waker is childish because of the art direction is also ridiculous, to the point where I have seen people list the game as their least favorite Zelda just because of the direction.
Also, the "every Zelda is better than the one before it" is absolutely false, imo. That would make TP the best Zelda game of all time and that's just wrong... of course thats imo.

Such a great game (coming from a person who first played it in 2007). "Nostalgia"? What weak argument is this guy going to have now that people actuelly LOVE the game (people who haven't played it in '98, '99', 00, etc).[QUOTE="Trmpt"] Yes it does. /threadenterawesome
you do know theres a five year gap between the two right? And small places, CMON! Hyrule field was huge and still is today... I respect your opinion because they are both good games but imo OOT > WW by a mile
[QUOTE="ChrisSpartan117"]
That's right. I'm serious.
So, you're probably wondering why.
Well, the main reasons for this is the art s t y l e is so awesome, and the entire world is better made.
You see, the main problem I had with OOT was that it felt likeI was in a very small area, and the sidequests...were underwhelming. And Wind Waker's sidequests are at times better than the main quest. And overall, the world felt more alive. And I loved sailing.
There's only two main problems with WW: The main quest is too easy and too short. And that's it. The story is better written than OOT methinks, and the characters were great in general.
So prepare the flame shields now. I'm ready.

I liked Wind Waker
But saying it is better then OoT is blasphemy.
EXACTLY saying something is BETTER than OoT is INSANEWhat annoyed me most about Wind Waker and Twilight Princess did that pushes them below Ocarina of Time is that they showed so much content, which was then cut from the final game, resulting in massive disappointment. Ocarina didnt have that effect, for some reason. Its part of why I want Nintendo to keep all details secret until they have the game pretty much done, then start releasing trailers. Then I wont be wondering where features / dungeons disappeared to.
Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are still fantastic games, but they will always personally be inferior to Ocarina for that reason. Only just, though.
Link To The Past > Ocarina of Time > Majoras Mask = Links Awakening >Wind Waker > Twilight Princess > The Legend of Zelda >>>>>>>> Phantom Hourglass.
Although, to be honest, this all changes depending on my mood. Except for Phantom Hourglass. I really dont like that game. Its the only Zelda where I just really dont care enough to finish it.
