I won't pay $150 for a controller they say?

Well they lied......MS announced the making of the 1 Millionth Xbox One Elite controller. Nice milestone I must say. I have one and I will never want another controller again. Who else has one?

The Xbox One Elite Controller reached an important milestone this week: Microsoft has manufactured one million of them to date, according to a tweet from Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. That’s not bad for a $150 controller that was in short supply last year because Microsoft itself "totally underestimated" demand for such a device.

Here’s the one millionth controller, with the customization to prove it, from Spencer:

Yeah...totally didn't see it coming. But I'd rather get those sweet Xbox Lab controllers.

I always knew there were a lot of people out there willing to pay too much for a controller. Didn't doubt the lack of common sense of the masses at any point in time. If you have the money to burn though it looks like a pretty nice controller.

$150 for a much higher quality controller makes a lot of sense if you're going to use it a lot. My Xbox One and PS4 controllers already have a noticeable amount of wear. If I played my Xbox One more often I would look into a solid controller that wouldn't fail me after a long period of rigorous use.

it looks lovely but i just couldnt put down that kind of money for a pretty standard controller. it has some nice ideas and i hear the build quality is second to none but for 150 quid the controller has to be far kore interesting.

on a side note though....is there anything to be said for selling consoles without a controller in future? we know the scorpio is going to support existing controllers (will sony change the PS4 controller at all for the neo? i doubt it) and, from MS and sony at least, their controllers are just not going to change drastically in the future.

so could it make sense to have the controller seperate from the console and just let people get a new console and use their existing controller.

if MS pledged that the controller would be supported on the X1, 2 and 3 (and windows of course) and that future consoles wont come with a controller as standard (or there will be an SKU with no controller) then i would be tempted. a robust, well built, future proof, fully featured controller that i wont need to repace for 15-20 years....yeah that could work. it may even end up saving money in the long run.

It's pretty much the perfect controller of this gen for me. It was hard imagening a controller being better than the 360 controller but this is it.

I don't see the need in switching out analog sticks or d-pad.

Aren't the elite controllers breaking constantly? I hear major problems with stick drift and and stuck buttons.

Guess I'm one of those $1 million who owns Xbox Elite Controller this past February, I only use it for my PC, it has zero use on my Xbox One and I gotta say, I'm in love with the Elite Controller when playing certain games on PC.

I actually have that one too, that I use for my PC gaming. It's got a terrific aesthetic, and far more reasonably priced than the Elite. Only had it since Sep last year, and playing any FPS with KB/M, haven't had any wear on it so far.

And I do still assert that $150 (which is considerably more here in Canada) is way too excessive for a controller. I know there are gaming mice for that much also, but I would never spend so much in that case either.

Yeah, same here. I use that controller for any PC games I don't play with KB/M. So a lot of action games and racing games are played with it. I haven't gotten any wear on it either :)

On my Xbone I use the Forza controller that came with it. Which is very similair, it also has the buttons in one coller with the collor distinction in the middle, and a nice rubber texture on the back.

Very happy with those controllers.

The people who have claimed to have the elite controller said they use it on PC.

Just stick to your cute glowing controller where the thumbsticks wear out in less than a year and the charge lasts 2 hours.

Suckers come in all forms...just look at all the cows that constantly eat the shit Sony throws out, you know, 4D, 120fps Toy story graphics ect ect ect yep suckers in all forms.

I can't believe how it is priced just as much as some of the high end mechanical keyboards.

I expect this from phil......the ELITE ONE CONSOLE they sold with a 1TB hard drive was total junk too the drive made by Seagate is the worst in the industry.....and did nothing....anyone with a PS4 can toss in a SSD than that silly 550 price they asked for it......

right now at gamestop they give you $100 for a used xbox one and $200 for a PS4 and the xbox cost $100 more lol

and the old controller wont work with the new console lol.... what a total grip.

@chikenfriedrice: Got mine January 4th and wont ever go back. Well accept when I have to like this weekend playing Rare Replay with my nephew at his house. It is the finest controller I have ever used. The weight is nice, the grips so good they have included it on the X1 S controller, the paddles are great. I never play any game in first person on standard layout. I always use my own especially love saying goodbye to L3 sprint. Right bottom paddle baby.

I actually am surprised I don't. I took a try on the Steam controller and with time I got to like it.

Considering the controller completely sold out initially and they were out of supply for months, they've likely sold in excess of 90% of their manufactured stock.

There's a big demand for a professional grade controller like this, and it caters to the PC market just as much as it does the Xbox market.

I'm pretty tempted to get one. The look slick, and I use my controller a lot on PC.

To be fair, people do pay $150 for a keyboard.

I'm probably one of the few gamers who game on KB/Mouse only. I can't get used to using a controller. It feels like I'm forcefully restrained whereas keyboard makes me feel free and powerful with numerous keys and bigger space and of course the mouse.

So it costs $150 to get rid of the horrid dead zones?
