Good question, as I just answered it in another thread. Personally i would say yes, although with a different protagonist it wouldn't be worth more than a rent. However the dev deserves kudos for creating a good game with a well known rapper, rather than just a piece of junk that would sell anyway
yes people would have liked it more and majority wouldnt act like the whole gaming industry died because there is fiddy in the game.
or even just a white hero instead of 50 would reaction b different ?darth-pyschosisYes, the only reason people don't want Fiddy in the game is because he's black. It's not anything to do with him being an obnoxious, offensive dolt with no outstanding talent. It's his skin color that turns everyone off.

But then again I wasn't impressed with Marcus, Sev, Nathan, or any no name military grunt either.
Did you really just pull the race card on this one? Way to go Cochran.....when do we get to hear the Wookie defense?Ibacaito say some ppl wont hate this game for that reason is ignorant we still live in a world that is afraid of diversity ( gamers not wanting their moms, kids, grandmas to have fun gaming thinking once its marketed towards girls its casual ?)
I do not have issues with the fact he is black. I have issues with he is black and shows a "gangster" mentaility. If embracing "African American culture" is embracing that particular subculture than my friend you can keep it because I will have no part of it in games.
But yeah it has NOTHING to do with the fact hes black, so lets not get into that. I would be more open to the game if you were playing someone like Carlton from The Fresh Prince.
If it had some depth... then I would be interested. Luckily... 50 cent and depth are polar opposites. :|

People are tired of Fiddy and his gangsta antics.
u guys think fanboys want more comfortable gaming cliche characters is that or is gaming hesitant to embrace american black culture in games ?darth-pyschosisI dont know about any of those. I think people dont want to play a game as person they have no respect for.
[QUOTE="Ibacai"]Did you really just pull the race card on this one? The majority of the people who dislike Fiddy aren't racists. They just don't like the gangsta culture, and Fiddy is the most visible icon of that culture.
It would sell less overall. System Wars hates 50 cent, as do I, but SW on GS is a tiny, tiny, tiny microsection of gamers, and really doesn't hold the popular opinion :( This is how the first 50 cent sold millions, and how this one will too.
ppl seem to hate the new 50 cent game, but alot of them haven't played it and most reviews like it say its good shallow fun. if it had some delta squad guy, super human soldier or even just a white hero instead of 50 would reaction b different ?darth-pyschosis
Thats a loaded question. I cannot stand 50 cent and would never buy any product with his name on it in all likelyhood. However, the same goes for Nicholas Cage and Nickelback, its not a racial issue, merely a talent and attitude one.
even just a white hero instead of 50 would reaction b different ?darth-pyschosisThis is idiotic. There have been heavily successful games featuring black leads (San Andreas for instance?). Claiming that a Pop-Rap star speaks for an entire culture (well, many cultures to be exact), is down right pathetic. That's like saying all white people (no matter what diverse country they are from) follow f'n Nickleback, and disliking their generic boring pop-rock, makes you racist.
u guys think fanboys want more comfortable gaming cliche characters is that or is gaming hesitant to embrace american black culture in games ?darth-pyschosisUmm, as a black man, "Fiddy" doesn't exactly embody American black culture anymore than Bono embodies "White" American culture. He's just a rapper (and only a decent one at that). 50 Cent is odd because he's not the a great rapper, he doesn't suck either. He's just OK.

Yes, it's true but there are people won't play games for any reason you can think of....Why would this one be a race issue? It would be like me saying Uncharted didn't sell because the main guy is white. While that might be true here and there it's not even worth bringing up as I have not a shred of proof. Yes yes, the world is a bad place.

I won't support a 50 Cent product not because of his skin color, but because of his questionable gang ties.
Yes, because it seems 90% of the haters hate it because of 50 Cent.Master-Thief-09
this is true, and i can admit to being one of them.

yes, but uncharted did sell well, so that's a bad example
u guys think fanboys want more comfortable gaming cliche characters is that or is gaming hesitant to embrace american black culture in games ?darth-pyschosisOh my god. Take that garbage somewhere else. So, because I dont want to play as thug 50, I dont like black people? Are you really saying that??? And are you saying that American black culture is "thug-o-nomics"? I dont think so. Before you start down this path, I could ask you where is White history month? How come black people get a month and white people dont?

How come black people get a month and white people dont? Without going OT, because most of the history taught relates to "white" history, ie European. Not sure about the States but in the UK when I grew up it was exclusively so at school. The other reason of course is that the lack of written materials from Africa gives us alot less to say and reconstruct about the past there - and so giving an alternative side of history not usually looked at is a positive IMO. Again didn't mean to go OT or argue, just think its an important to raise before the thread descends into something it shouldn't

and uncharted has sold well over 2 million at this point.

Yeah, no kidding. Thats exactly how his post came off, to me. I dont know where anyone would think that because people dont want to play as 50 cent in a game is a slight against african americans in any shape, form, or fashion. Its not. And I honestly dont think they would want other people thinking that the "thuglife" some (ok, MOST) of these rappers live are in any means indicative of what they have been striving to accomplish. If anything, its a set back.I'm the opposite. I tried it just because of 50. 50 cent is a smart man, who just happens to have alot of haters. And dsspite what some may think he's a good rapper, when he wants to be. His old mixtape stuff + his first album are classic. But I don't expect white guys to know much about 50.

I didn't say he was a thug. I said he promotes and (at least externally) personifies gangsta culture, which is why people don't like him.
