Anti-gamers at their finest.. People should be more concerned with Activision taking the gamers to the cleaners with all their DLC.

WWIAB
Guitar Hero anyone?

DLC on a music game is not new to GH. DDR did it way before GH did. Also is DLC for a music based game a bad thing? Is it a bad thing now to give you access to even more music than what came with your game.

I doubt Activision will cut support despite the PS3 flaws.

They would lose a lot of money, and as long as Sony still has their first party and every third party they've ever had minus Activision, then they will be ok

Maybe Activision already somehow knows a price cut is definitely coming. So when it does happen, they can take credit for it.

If Activision dropped support for the 360 then the 360 is dead. cwutididthar?Deathtactician8
the difference is that Activision actually makes a much larger profit off of the 360 compared to the PS3. Last year, Activision paid out a total of 500 million in royalties to Sony just so they could release the EXACT same games they released on the 360. The big difference isn't solely in the royalty fee (almost double what MS charges publishers btw) but in the number of units sold. Games in general sell better on the 360 simply because the installed user base is larger. If Sony would cut the price of the PS3, there would be a huge sway in software sales compared to what they're currently sitting at.

Now I'm not supporting Activision in this out cry, but I do find it interesting that Sony would (for a lack of better ways to put it) egg on the beast. Pulled support from Activision would be a HUGE hit for Sony and I think it's interesting that Sonys arrogance is still their biggest down fall.

[QUOTE="Dweedledude5000"]and dont tell me EA or freinds will take over PS3 because if Activision think PS3 is fail then so will EA and then if EA backs out on PS3 then other smaller devs will as well. Bout time a credible dev like Activision took charge and threatened Sony. Might see PS3s cheaper now if Sony arn't fools.darthogre
rofl, if Activision custs support for the PS3 you will see Activisions revenue drop a TON as well. How well do you think that will play with the stock holders?

No you would not. Creating a game for the PC and 360 is done in tandem. No separate dev group needed as there is for porting games to the PS3. Right there is a huge chunk of change saved. No paying of the obscene royalties Sony requires from publishers such as Activision (read my previous post for that) meaning another massive amount of money is not spent. The final blow is that for the most part, Activision games sell much better on the PC and the 360 compared to the PS3. Activisions revenue would not drop a TON. In fact, they could possibly come out ahead with this. :|

[QUOTE="tonitorsi"]

just because the PSP and the PS3 have big user bases doesnt mean that activision is stupid for dropping them. As I said before, there games dont sell nearly as well on the PS3 plus it requires more money to make. So for all we know (and we dont know) they may be losing money on the PS3 or not making enough for it to matter.

They won't drop nothing. They'd be utterly stupid to make move that dumb having the most sold out console of all time (Ps2) 50 million userbase (PSP) & The PS3's which is 24 million.

If activision drops ps3, what do you think, sony won't have any response? Ph yeah sure, drop ps3, but we'll help you make money off of our other systems....no. Sony will sever all ties with them. How will this affect Activision is another thing. I mean how many more years does ps2 have left, and how many more game sis activision doing for them? And the psp, how many games are being sold really (from activision that is)? This would be bad for sony, either way you look at it. Ok so many claim activision is bad, they milk titles, etc. But these are mainstream titles. COD is huge within hardcore and causal gamers. GH is huge. And just the fact that a developer dropped support can't be seen as favorable to any one. Sends mixed signals that ps3 losing support...so going the death route....just not good at all.

I fully support Activision for two reasons:

  1. They are a business and want their products to sell.
  2. I want the PS3 to become cheaper.

All the PS3 would lose is cod, i hate activision, they forced infinity ward into giving treyarch the rights to create cod games because they wanted a cod game every year. Plus the milkage of guitar hero. Personally i prefere EA.
