If Crysis had average graphics, physics etc, would it be just another shooter? Are the story, gameplay and multiplyer as good as the visuals? Is the only thing that is getting this game and others in the series so much attention are the technical aspects?jtdawg23

[QUOTE="Verge_6"]I played it on medium-high settings at first, and I really was disappointed. Granted, playing it on High settings with shaders on max detail adds to the enjoyment factor now with my updated rig, but I still don't really feel that it's a 'Shooter of the Year' winner. It's the same thing that happened with Crytek's last FPS, really.Painballz

Just ignore him, he's just trolling.
Honestly, I think it would. I mean, the gameplay, at least to me is amazing. Perfect balance of linear but giving you options. It's linear in the sense you go from village to village to trigger the next cinema, but give you the option of doing that in anyway you want. You can blow the place up, go in and sliently kill everyone, or sneak past it completely. The choice is yours. Unfortuantly, most people pass Crysis off as just another all show and no go games. This is not true. The graphics help A LOT but they merely add to the experience.
Although I must say, the multiplayer is just atrocious :x
Probably not. As fresh a breath of air its non-linear gameplay might have been, it wouldn't have got the attention from System Wars without being a visual powerhouse.
I mean, look at STALKER, that game is crazy good, but gets treated like a red-headed stepchild on here by non-PC gamers.

Gears of War would still be regarded as very awesome because of it's chainsaw and cover system.

the only game of this type (ie with open levels) with better AI is STALKER
I recently built a new rig, something that could run Crysis on High with a solid 30+ fps.... and honestly, for me, Crysis is down right beautiful, but is lacking in 1 major area.... FUN FACTOR.... where is the fun? I dunno.... I just can't get into it.... I enjoyed Halo3 & COD4 much much more.
Halo3 & COD4 graphics may look like poo on a stick compared to Crysis.... but they were fun games, and thats what matters most to me.
Crysis is an average game behind stunning graphics but thats not me necessarily saying that it's a bad thing. I mean I enjoyed Crysis for what it was and liked some things they did with it but it pulled a Farcry again and made the game linear halfway, the alien fights were not all that enjoyable and to my memory one particularly frustrating vehicle sequence made me very angry.
Crytek proves that of all else, you could make a big splash into the market (Even though they dont believe so) by making a fancy tech-demo playable.
farcry is still one of the best shooter out there because of its open level design and great gameplay. what makes crysis great is the open level design, nano and customizable weapons, sure the graphics make it better but crysis on low is still a much better sp game than cod4 maxed out.
I'm sick of there scriped shooter than are the same every single time, no two times will crysis be the same, the enimies react different every time
No it wouldn't. But don't think you'll get any unbaised anwsers of hermits.Relys

there is nothing special about its cover system and quake 4 has a chainsaw so whats your point about that? being about to play full on assualt or stealth in crysis is one of the main things that makes it great. if it has been a corridor shooter with amazing graphics it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good

Your genious astounds me.. Notice we are talking about through the entire thread about singleplayer.. Most would agree that Crysis is not a multiplayer friendly game right now.. So thank you for looking like a complete jackass in trying to berate it in such a pathetic manner.

Yes, there is something special about it's cover system. And yes, many games have had chainsaws... But not attached to the end of your gun!!!
Crysis only brings eyecandy to the table.

you must like boring corridors telling you what to do, cod4 is a 2/10 on sp fun factor if cyrsis is 10 there is no comparing them. cod4 is exactly the same every time while it take 2-3 plays through crysis to even see the whole game. It seems many people like you just want to run down corridors shooting everything and I can't see what is fun about doing that 100x on 100 different games, they are all the same, but crysis lets you chose how to complete the objective which makes is a much more fun game

I guess now that we're following review rigorously we can safely say that GTA4 and MGS4 has set the bar up for every shooter including PC games right?
Again I ENJOYED Crysis, I just felt that the gunplay was just a little shallow. Jason has his opinion, I have mine, you have yours but when it comes down to it I just cant see someone enjoying Crysis running on low as much as they would playing it as high.

COD4 is the best and most breathtaking singleplayer FPS experince ever created. A little short.. But an epitome none the less.Relys
except it's like something out of 2002 gameplay-wise

This makes me giggle as well.. CoD4 if anything was a step backwards in all shooter types lol... And yet he is berating something like Crysis which really compares to one other game, Farcry their first game.
