First I'll say I don't believe for a second, not even in a parallel universe where Ben Croshaw of Zero Punctuation fame runs Gamespot, will this game score less than AAA.
But in the impossibly narrow chance it did, we'd see what we always see when this sort of thing happens to a highly hyped game. Flocking to the scores of other sights such as IGN, GameInformer, 1UP and of course gamerankings as the tried and ytested backup defense. "See, see, SEE, the game really IS AAA no matter what bias-spot says".
We have this rule that only GS scores count but as soon as it's no longer convenient, it's ditched like the lady of the night who served her purpose. I myself have advocated that GR averages would be a viable official score to go by. But until that takes effect in any official capacity (which it probably never will) I stand by the GS rule. ONLY GS scores count.
I know I may have run off on a tangent here but on the actual topic, was pointing out how ownage is never accepted as long as there are other scores to go by, rules or no rules.
