Surely this huge hardcore audience would already have a games console? And Forza is much more realistic than GT4; again as all of the reviews say. GT is borderline arcade.

Again with the nonsense. A game has to be at least seven years old to be eligible for the GS hall of fame. Answer the following, i actually dare you because you've been dodging it for half an hour now and you know it:

 Forza and GT4 both released the same year. GT4 isn't even nominated for racer of the year. Forza wins.

Every review of the two games has been averaged and GT4 gets an 8.9; Forza gets a 9.3

The only thing GT4 has over Forza is sales; and it's on a console with six times the user base, so that is to be expected.

Face it. I have as much evidence as is possible to have to say Forza >> GT4. You however, say it doesn't even compare, but you have nothing other than your own opinion which we've already established is pointless as you say two GOTY, AAA games are crap, despite all the critical acclaim.

Really? So what does that mean about GT 4 and the first Forza? Doesn't that mean that Forza is a more advanced racer because it demands more out of the player? Thus the learning curve.

I personally don't think GT series has as many "fans" as it has sales. GT games are the most bundled with consoles EVER. I know my PS2 came with GT3. Cash Converters (A shop you sell stuff to here in Australia) pretty much has a row for GT games that people have sold to them, there is that many.

And why are we comparing Forza and GT? GT stopped being a sim years ago (I guess thats what happens when you use the same gameplay for 10 years?). The fact of that matter compared to other competing racing sims, GT is behind.. way behind - in realism (not visuals).

That was true in the past, but manufacturers have since changed their opinion on the matter.  They were worried if people smashed up their cars in the game that people would think they were of poor quality.  However, they have realized that people want the most realistic experience in games possible and people will even think more favorably of their cars after experiencing them in games.  It's almost like a form of advertising to them.  That's why more recent racers like PGR or Forza have had licensed cars that can be damaged.  If you look at a lot of older games that did have damage did not have licensed cars like Burnout or Rush.
