[QUOTE="BrutonNYC"]Lets say that Hypothetically speaking the Wii really dominated the PS3 and 360 so much so that Sony and MS would be forced to give up on gaming and the future of gaming was based around Nintendo consoles and the only type of games that would be out would be Mario, zelda and metroid etc, would you give up on gaming?! Honestly if that happened, I would officially give up on gaming and find a new hobby. This is under assumption that Nintendo continued with their same business model of marketing to little kids with no emphasis on online mutliplayer.. umm yea, I would definitly give up on gaming.
After such awesome games such as Gears, Halo, MGS,Resistance,Lost planet etc. Man the gaming world would be doomed if it was only nintendo, id DEFINITLY give up on gaming if gaming was all about little kid games like the Nintendo Wii.

From the looks fo things you were never really a "gamer" to begin with
You sir are and not to bright, so if only all my favorite bands died off and couldn´t make more music and I was left with only mtv to watch I wouldn´t watch it, does that mean I hate music? What´s wrong with these people.Â

[QUOTE="lusitanogamer"][QUOTE="isDoooomed"][QUOTE="lusitanogamer"]It would probably mean the end of the industry if things got to that point. One company alone is not good. I would probably stop being a gamer, Mario, Zelda and such are not my type of games. I'm 26, can you blame me for saying that?isDoooomed
Yeah, I kinda blame you a bit for mentioning your age in there. Not liking something is perfectly fine, but not liking it just because of "Oh, I think that's childish, but I'm a big boy who likes grown up things!" is just lame and childish (sweet irony) in my book.
However I totally agree that a monopoly probably would be a bad thing for the console gaming industry, well, mostly for the consumer.
Suddenly honesty has become something lame and childish.:? I really don't get some of you guys. Would you rather have me saying a lie. I don't like childish games now (i used to love Mario when i was a kid) but that doesn't mean i find them bad. A guy can't give his honest opinion anymore without someone jumping on you...
What I said was that it's lame to not like a game just for the sake of acting "adult" because adults do not play games a child wants to play too (ofc this is bull$hit, but it appears that alot of people think like this).
It's an entirely different thing if they don't appeal to you anymore for whatever reason else. To mention your age just gave me a bit of the impression that you're part of that first group and the "can you blame me for saying that?" part just looked like an invitation for the answer you got from me, I'm sure you understand it now.
What I did not say is that "honesty has become something lame and childish" and if I really wanted to jump you on this I surely wouldn't have used words like "I kinda blame you a bit". Take it easy, everyone knows only retards argue on the internet and systemwars is the hardcore version of that. ;)
btw. I'm also 26 and don't really like this type of games too, I'm more of a tactical shooter/rts guy. But some of them are great to play together with friends and having a great time, and they're even better if you don't have to worry about the fact that they're childish, who cares? The fun counts and nothing else.
So, no harm done, happy thoughts! :)
Like you said, some of this so called childish games are fun, and i admit that i like to play them in the proper occasions.
Yeah, i admit that the expression "can you blame me for saying that?" was inappropriate but i only wrote it to justify why i said that Mario and Zelda were games that didn't appeal to me anymore. In these forums a guy has to justify everything. If i didn't saymy age, i would probably have some offended fanboys trying to jump on my throat.
No problems man, i see now what you were trying to say.Â
The Nintendo Wii is a game? When did that happen? Anyway on topic, do you believe that in the case that only Nintendo is left in the console war, all developers that were focused on the other two will jsut say "oh well" and close down? If so you know nothing about the games industry, or business in general. The games would go to the Wii instead, obviously. That's just common sense. The Wii therefore would get all the games, by default, and despite what you'd just love to belive, all the gamers along with it.
it's not like they would be the only developers.

Exeactly what I was think a few seconds ago,was about to post it, but I seen yours. Nintendo would have Namco, Square Enix, Capcom, Sega, EA, Ubisoft, ECT, developing for the console so it won't have the same old game over and over again....
As I've ignored Sony's and Microsofts attempts at creating game consoles it wouldn't have any effect on me.
Indeed Microsoft might even bring out games for the PC faster and therefore it would improve my gaming choice.
The Wii and the PC would have greater 3rd party support giving the Wii a greater range of games, and the PC .....well just more games that are not dreadful ports.
I have a Wii and a PC. Before them I owned an Atari 2600 and the Atari 800XL.
[QUOTE="ssbfalco"]Sigh... if that were to happen, then all those games you mentioned would be on the one Nintendo console. The only reason they backed out of the tech race for this gen was because the PS2 and Xbox were proving to be tough competitions.
Â
instead of fighting, they stepped aside, and made the best business decision... ie. "How can sell craploads more consoles than our competiors and still make a profit?"
Â
Next gen, if the Wii brings Nintendo back up to a status where they feel "safe", the Wii 2 (or Nintendo US) will be just as, if not more powerful than the other consoles...

Very doubtful. Nintendo has ALWAYS been the less technical superior console.
uhh...n64?From the looks fo things you were never really a "gamer" to begin with
How am I not a gamer?! I loved Nintendo.. back when I was 11 but lets face it im 22 years old now, I play Gears and resistance multiplayer on a daily basis, i just couldnt go to Super paper mario and zelda after the online gaming experience
A play all of those but Resistance. Am i a gamer?Â

Attempts? Okay. Wow. That's over 10 years of quality gaming you missed out on. Sorry :(
Despite the unrealistic hypothetical scenerio, it's not going to happen. MS and Sony have $$$$$.
But to answer this hypothetical scenerio, YES. I would still be a gamer and buy Nintendo consoles, just for thier 1st party franchises and maybe a few exclusive 3rd party stellar games (whenever the hell they come out, as Sheep are boasting about it).
I would also turn to the PC, where most of the Hardcore games are at.
I would become a Sheemit? Shermit? (Sheep/Hermit)Â
All in all, I wouldn't be missing on anything.
