nobody remembers how alan wake graphics were downgraded from the techdemos and it become a linear piece of shit?

Oh I remember... Open world , The dam scenes, It looked incredible and when it came out..... NO pc version... (the platform all the demos were shown on and the game was hyped for that platform. Pc version didn't come out for another year or more, i didn't buy it until it was $4.00 a few months ago on steam). Linear and closed world... it was nothing like the tech demos at all.

Funny how you mention that, but it seems that the reason multiplats were better on 360 this gen was due to ease of development with unified memory and such. Something that the PS4 has been designed with as the main draw. Meanwhile Xbone uses a micro-sized chunk of dedicated esram where devs will have to work harder to get by the 360's complications.. such as 50% less shaders, 50% less rops and texture units , which means low fill rate. And slow arse ddr3. Same type of ram on the 360. Multiplats will most likley look better on PS4. At least the ps3 had the specs to take advantage of optimized programming, for better graphics, the xbone's esram is all to get past a flaw.

I wouldn't say the hardware is crappy, its underpowered compared to the PS4 on the graphical side, but this isn't 2003 anymore, one day you will get it, and that day you will get an XBO. Its the future no two ways about it.

Stupid comparison from a stupid poster. The architecture of one and 4 are a lot more similar than this current generation. The cell held back multiplats on PS3. Look at the generation before that. Games looked much better on Xbox than the other 2.

Chaos Theory on the Xbox was the superior version. While the other versions were ports of one another, the Xbox version was built completely seperate from the ground up and was one of the best looking games of the generation. It was a multiplat with 100% exclusive development.

Assuming you're talking about PS4/XBONE and as such are still in touch (somewhat) with reality, the gap is quite large and should be very noticeable with the least bit of care given by developers due to the similar architectures. In fact if anything the PS4 will be the easiest console to develop for this gen followed by the XBONE and then the Wii U which should make the advantage even more apparent.

If you're talking about the Wii U's multiplats looking "not much different" though I'm afraid to say that you're delusional and need to wake up. Even if developers weren't hobbled by the large and insurmountable memory disadvantage (speed and quantity) in the Wii U you're still having to live with the other compromises Nintendo made.

What are those compromises? It's a different architecture, so there is less incentive to learn it compared to the PS4/XBONE, the GPU is much weaker (the basic numbers would suggest 50% weaker than XBONE but it could be worse still), and the CPU as it needs to be backwards compatible with Wii and as such is similar architecturally to the one in the Wii and GameCube is unable to take advantage of a number of the improvements that have been made by IBM to their PowerPC architecture in the last decade.

Nintendo consoles exist primarily to play exclusives. Microsoft consoles exist primarily to play multiplats. With the Xbone you're going to get the worst version of most PC/PS4/Xbone games. Would a higher-specced Wii U be nice? I guess, but the lack of power on the Wii never really bothered me in any first party game.

in the context of your argument, i totally agree.. Once all the dust settles and we have the consoles in our hands, multiplatform games will look virtually identical, platform exclusives will play to the strengths of their respective system and any major differences will likely be very subjective, and the primary differences will fall upon the UI of the consoles themselves and the content/features of their respective online multiplayer ecosystems (PSN vs XBL)..

face it guys, multiplatform games play to the lowest common denominator (for obvious business reasons) and a vast majority of games these days are multiplatform.. So at the end of the day, games like Battlefield 4, MGS5, Final Fantasy XV, Destiny, and more will be developed with the weaker console in mind.. not vice-versa.. why would developers intentionally and openly deliver an "inferior" version of their game to roughly 50% of their potential buyers when both consoles are so even matched in terms of specs?.. it makes no logical sense and (just like last gen) simply wont happen..

You better hope that game lives up to the very little we have seen of it. It just seems the lems have been hyping the hell out of every game that has been shown on Xbone so far. If any or all of them flop, you guys will get torn apart. Be prepared, just sayin'

I'm a Nintendo fan and I care about hardware. It's not as big a deal as the hardware for the other consoles but I was very disappointed at the Wii U's final specs. 

I will still purchase one because that's the only way you can play Nintendo first party games but I really do hope in the future they design their hardware more in line with other next gen hardware.

So at the end of the day, games like Battlefield 4, MGS5, Final Fantasy XV, Destiny, and more will be developed with the weaker console in mind.. not vice-versa.. why would developers intentionally and openly deliver an "inferior" version of their game to roughly 50% of their potential buyers when both consoles are so even matched in terms of specs?.. it makes no logical sense and (just like last gen) simply wont happen..

The PS4 being 50% stronger with an easier architecture to harness is far, FAR from "even matched", you're just making a joke out of yourself now.

Oh and they absolutely WILL deliver inferior versions for XBONE because it's trivial to bump up effects or resolution for the PS4 or have it maintain a higher/more consistent framerate. They would be fools not to do so as other developers will and failing to do that would make their offerings look worse by comparison.

I don't think the XBox One is crappy. I think the price is crappy. I think M$ will need to release another XBox One SKU that doesn't include the Kinect. I think the system will be fine overall. There are millions of gamers who want it. I probably won't do as well as the PS4 because of the price, the Kinect and all the negativity it gets in Europe and Japan.

If specs are meaningless explain to me where the PC-perfect version of Crysis is for Xbox 360 and if you're really going to try to claim that the 50% figure is incorrect you're going to have to provide a reputable source that says something like that.

Here is a hint, at least when it comes to the GPU: you won't find one.

I don't need Wii U to have that hardware to be able to look forward to a more attractive-looking Zelda or Metroid. Wii U is, regardless of how relatively weak it is, still a huge leap from Wii -- which was essentially a supped-up Gamecube. (And this has been my argument all along, really ... it's more about the noticeable graphical leap between past and present consoles than actual specs.)

This is very true outside of system wars and forums. A lot people who bought a PS3 or Xbox 360 will just see the two new systems as more powerful versions of what they already have. Millions of people will buy the same brand next gen without even knowing the spec differences between the two. People in the know about the specs will argue all day about it but in the end its not a big deal. The price on the other hand will have an impact on sales. Lets see if the market share MS got this gen will follow them into the next despite the higher price.
