Probably ps3. More reliable, free online (don't play much anyway, so why pay for it?), and the multimedia features destroy the other system's features.
If the prices were still all the same, probably still the 360, just because of the controller, I hate the PS3's controller whenever I have to use it at my friends house, it's just awkward. That's why I'm not getting a PS3 until probably the end of this generation when they're cheaper, then just play all the great exclusives.
I would probably get a PS3 if both systems had no exclusives. Cause the fan is very silent compared the 360's. And i like Slick design, and the playstation controller is very designed. But in reality they both have their exclusives. And i prefer the Xbox 360's exclusives over the PS3's. I'm happy with my Xbox.
Factoring in disc format, cost of online, reliability, and other preferences the PS3 would be my choice if there were no such thing as console exclusives.
360 is cheaper and tends to have slightly superior multiplats, but I like the PS3 hardware/features better and the free online would pay itself back eventually. Can't really pick between the two, which is prolly why I don't have either. Even with exclusives included I think they're equal.
I can get a 360 for $199 (New design) and a blu-ray player for $50 and still have money left for games, or an extra controller, Live, or some Arcade games and still be less than buying a PS3. Oh by the way you have a bigger game library on the 360 than the PS3 with or without exclusives. Everything I stated is fact and can not be denied.

Where did you find a bluray player for $50? I've been looking around and all i can find is $100 used on amazon.

But 360 controllers feel and break just like toys. 2 of my 360 controllers have broke, just purely from playing them the joysticks get lose along with the bumpers. Plus they dont even come with a rechargable battery pack... Exclusives like Halo: Reach and GoW keep me playing it though.

plus if you want to charge the ps3 controller while playing you have to buy a longer usb cable.
Well i'd get a PC... But since you didn't allow that. I dunno, both are good. Xbox gets rediculiously hot when i play it so that scares the **** out of me, but the online intergration is alot better and most multiplats are slightly superior on it. But PS3 has blu ray, free online which is almost as good, internet browser etc. Realy depended on the mood i was in haha :D

I personally like that about the thumbsticks on the PS3 controller. To me the 360 controller's analogs feel stiff and jittery.
I can't imagine them both existing without exclusive games, just wouldn't make much sense. If they both existed I would probably still go with ps3, since it's a blu-ray player as well, and just better at multimedia stuff.
But, I wouldn't play as many games, as most games I play and enjoy are ps exclusives.
