When you buy an X1 multiplat, you get the PC version for free! Now think about this for a second. You get the superior PC version for free that will have the top end graphics, mods and so on. You also get the X1 version that you can play on your X1 and also this version will be UPGRADED(fps, resolution etc) for the upcoming X1 console upgrade.

Or you can buy the PS4 version with it's 1.8 GIGAWATS OF POWA!!!!!! And then you get to rebuy it as "remastered" for $60 on PS5, LMFAO!!!

It's over, bring the shovel!

Well actually what Spencer said wasn't about Xbone getting a singular component hardware update but whatever Xbox there's gonna be next, they'll eschew traditional generational delineation and their consoles will use the same architecture from then on.

Then it ceases to be a console. People will just buy the tried and true static hardware, and Playstation will always be the most popular in that scene.

WOAH, this is such a new concept~

I mean sure the PS3 did it and it wasn't a deathblow at all to the 360 but this is definitely a killing blow to PS4....what a stupid thread.

Yes, If I understood correctly it's going to be similar to an ipad that is upgraded but still runs all the games. The next X1 will have much better hardware but you can play all the older X1 games with better fps and res and so on.

Also, the current X1 can play future games that will take advantage of the upgraded box but it will have to run them at lower res and fps.

FInally, if you buy an X1 multiplat game, you get the PC version as well with it. All of that equals the end of Playstation.

I have a feeling that we're reading too much into Phil's comments about this possible Xbox One "upgrade" that may happen mid-gen... maybe it was just a fancy way of saying that generations from now on will be shorter.

It gives a bigger reason to upgrade because you know you can keep all your game library and it will be so much better. Those who can't afford to upgrade can keep their X1 and they can buy Xbox Next games and at least play them if only at min settings. In the future when they upgrade, wow they will run the new games maxed which should be amazing.

I don't know if we're reading too much into it but he did say they would be backwards compatible and the X1 would be forward compatible. He also said when you buy the X1 version of a multiplat you will get the PC version for free. That equals the death of Playstation.

Are you admitting that Microsoft are the leaders of the industry and Sony is only in a position to scramble and copy to try and keep up?

I actually agree with you, Sony better copy the f*ck out of this or it's over for them.

Right...

That was back in October, way before Microsoft even talked about it.

Yeah now that you mention it, I agree. But it won't be a all in all console anymore. It's more like a hybrid. Upgradable hardware that runs Windows? That's a PC, even if it is in a proprietary form. Developers will have a harder time hitting the hardware due to multiple system configs, albeit not as many variations. Other than that, yeah it's way more functional than your traditional console, but honestly what would it give you that a Windows 10 gaming rig wouldn't? Assuming they are releasing everything under the sun for Xbox on PC.

Because if you buy the X1 version, it will be almost identical to the PS4 version. But in the future if you buy the Xbox Next, that same game will work on it only look and run a lot better. Also, when you buy the X1 version, you get the PC version which is the ultimate version for free.

The question is, why would anyone buy the PS4 version?

What it gives you that a PC doesn't is portability, affordability and true plug and play. It also is a great companion to a PC because when you buy games for it, you are getting the PC version for free.

Let me ask you this, what does an Ipad give you that a PC doesn't?

You are assuming the PC version will be for a lower cost? For me I would pay more to get both version because I have both and use both regularly.

Other than that, yeah it's way more functional than your traditional console, but honestly what would it give you that a Windows 10 gaming rig wouldn't? Assuming they are releasing everything under the sun for Xbox on PC.

What it gives you that a PC doesn't is portability, affordability and true plug and play. It also is a great companion to a PC because when you buy games for it, you are getting the PC version for free.

Let me ask you this, what does an Ipad give you that a PC doesn't?

If you're truly wanting a pimped out Xbox you might be looking at some mad money. My point is, the average person who buys CoD every year and doesn't know what a gpu is, they haven't got time to be fucking with upgrades. If a gamer wants more power, they get a PC. Why would you upgrade your Xbox when you can get a PC? Because those mass consumers sure won't.

How did the PS3 do this? The PS4 was a completely different architecture from the PS3. If you bought a PS4, you have to sell all of your PS3 games and then you have to buy the "remastered" edition for the PS4 which means you get to buy the game again.

If I bought certain games on PS3 I would get the Vita versions for free

EXACT.SAME.THING

Do you really think it's the same thing? Engage your brain first, then think about it and come back here and let me know what you come up with.

You pay for one on a system and get it for another free, that is the EXACT same thing.

Just stop clown.

What PS3 games run on PS4? When you buy PS3 or PS4 games, what free PC games do you get?

....this guy is a moron.

Point me to where in my initial statement I mean the PS4 please.

Than why not just buy the PC version? Is cheaper anyway..

Because the X1 version comes with a free copy of the PC version. And the X1 version will work on all future upgraded Xboxes.

So? the PC version works on PCs. Why would you buy the X1 version for a free PC version. Just buy the PC version, most likely for a lower cost

You are assuming the PC version will be for a lower cost? For me I would pay more to get both version because I have both and use both regularly.

Because that's usually how it goes. the PC digital version is cheaper than the console digital version

But that still doesn't make any sense at all man, just get PC version for a lot less then any Xbox One version. Your paying full price for the console version then you should've gotten the PC version alone for less.

Then it ceases to be a console. People will just buy the tried and true static hardware, and Playstation will always be the most popular in that scene.

I don't think you understand. The new Xbox, let's call it the Xbox Next will run all of the X1 games only it will run them at better resolution and frames per second. This is similar to how if you own a PC and one day buy a new PC much more powerful, it will play all of your games only they will look and run much better.

However, the Xbox Next will have new games that take advantage of it's upgraded power. Those will look amazing. The cool thing is that you can play those games on the X1 as well. Of course you will have to drop down the settings dramatically so that it runs at an acceptable pace.

It's still a console. But it's better because you don't necessarily have to throw out all of your old games and then buy remasters(yea right) for full price on the new console.

The true beauty is that you don't have to upgrade if you don't want to. I imagine upgrades will come every 2-4 years. But you don't have to upgrade since the X1 will be able to play the new games for the upgraded xbox. It will just run them at much lower quality.

Why do people upgrade ipads? Some people buy the best newest one every year. Some skip one, two or more upgrade cycles. Eventually you have to upgrade if you want to run the newest software well.

It's still a lot better than waiting 5+ years and then the upgrade means you throw out all of your current games only to buy them again on the new system as "remakes". I wouldn't mind if they came out with an upgraded Xbox every two years. Remember, you don't have to buy it. You can keep the one you have it just means you won't be running everything maxed out.
