And here come the conspiracy theorists...

There is no conspiracy theories about it. We invaded for the oil, no if ands or buts about it. Anyone with with half a brain knows that. Anyways, no, if we gave a copy of World Of Warcraft to everyone in Iraq, the war wouldnt end. What would they play it on? And how would they pay for it? Huh? Huh?!

We invaded Iraq for two major reasons:
The reasons why we're still are in Iraq are:
gasoline is still expensive...:(jack_russel
$3.23 here in Buffalo.
If we did go to Iraq for oil, Bush is truly incompetent if that was the case. Hell, lets go to Venezuela while we're at it. Hugo Chavez is an asshat anyways.

In all seriousness it'd be interesting to see how a different culture plays. Especially one so different from the West. WoW is really a game all caught up in symbols and imagery, rather than binary good and evils (though they are represented). How would another culture react to them?
In the West in WoW for example, the Alliance outnumbers the Horde on every server. For example it's got that whole Medieval Europe Knights and Crusaders feel. Would people in the Middle East go for that, considering that the term Crusader is an anathema over there, while here it's a virtue?
Maybe Night Elves wouldn't be the most commonly rolled race, and that's a good thing, because I got really sick of those purple bastards when I played.

I welcome all Middle Easterners to join the Horde so we can finally crush the plague that is the Alliance force. I mean, we're already crushing them in PvP, we just need greater numbers.

what are u talking about??? .... im confused lol
I don't know why you get all defensive when anyone mentions Iraqi oil. It's a fact that many Americans got stinking rich from the war in Iraq, who do you think got all the contracts to rebuild the country. If you think America went in there to save Iraqi people from Saddam then you're in serious denial. There are many countries under horrible dictatorship that America couldn't give a rats ass about.
Keep telling people that America are fighting for freedom or whatever, it's all BS at the end of the day. People like Bush are war mongers, and should be thrown in jail for war crimes like his father and many other western leaders of the last century.

It's to be expected that certain companies get rich when a war breaks out. That's the nature of the war machine but to state that's the reason why we went to war is sheer paranoa mixed with self righteousness.
I'll be the first to state that we did not go to war with Iraq because we wanted to save the Iraqi people and I'll also agree with the fact that there are dictatorships Bush doesn't really care about. Our job is not to liberate everyone and it foolish for the Bush admisnistration to state so, which they often do. The fact is that we went to Iraq based on national secruity. Any news of illegal arms that can be passed on to enemies of the US to be used against Americans is a national secruity issue. The problem with the Iraq War is that the intel we've recieved from various intel services was false, thus leaving the US with a nice black eye. As a result, you have the administration bumbling around making excuses. I firmly believe that if Bush just admit to the fact that the Iraq War was based on an intel screw up of epic proportions, this really wouldn't be tinhat haven for people such as yourself.
I also want to say that for a president most Anti-Bush people consider a moron, they give him way too much credit to think up such a clever scheme to cash out on a war.
Where were you people when Iraqi's were starving to death on the streets because of US and UN sanctions put in place on their country?. That's right you didn't care. You let Saddam buy food for oil but you knew damn well he was pocketing the money and the people got nothing. Doctors had no medicine to treat people because of your god damn sanctions. Your sanctions killed up to a million Iraqi's and done nothing to harm Saddam, your old best friend who used to shake hands with Dick Cheney not that long ago.
Americans are hypocrytes and will deal with terrorists like Bin Laden when it suits them like in the Afghan war against theRussians.Or they will hand over people who tried to kill Saddam to Saddam's forces to be killed when Saddam was their best friend before the first American invasion of Iraq. You people need to realise your government stinks and is corrupt, maybe if you didn't spend all your time playing games, and instead read somebooks you would realise this.
You may as well be standing up for gangsters when you talk about about how great your president is.

you're almost right..... except instead of saying "intel services were false", you should be saying "intentionally falsified", do you really believe that Bush didn't know that the intel about WMD's wasn't already proven false.... pffff..... funny i knew it the day it was announced, of course I'd say this to people then and they'd say "Oh you're a conspiracy theorist... blah blah blah".... and then blam, some time later, "Oh we've found that the "intel" that Saddam had WMD's is actually false"
I feel somuch pity for people gullible to believe everything they see on the news and read in the newspaper.
PS. Another example of Bush knowingly spouting rubbish is the whole "Irans Nuclear Arms Program", he knew 3 months prior that the program had halted, yet put his lying face on TV saying things like "Anyone concerned with preventing WWIII needs to support us in our efforts"
Only this time he got caught, and what has happened???? Nothing, a couple weeks pass and everyone is just content with hearing jokes about it on Conan or the COlbert Report
Liberating the Middle East. That backfired in their face and good thing too.
All empires end, fact of history.
They came for WMDs, found none. Came to remove evil Saddam, he turned out to not be that evil after all. And they stayed under the guise of liberation, a people that didn't want it.
Reminds me very much the tactics used by the British Empire in South Asia and even Napoleons "Machiavellian" two-faced hypocrisy when he tried invading Palestine.

I personally believe that the Iraq/WMD deal wasn't false since, as I stated, this is stuff compiled for years and approved by every organization investigating this matter. Hell, Clinton attacked Iraq in '98 based on the same info in an effort to get the UN back in Iraq. In the end, we did find illegal WMDs but they were pre-Gulf War weapons, not post WMDs that reports pointed to.
As for the Iran/Nuclear Weapons deal, that has been an issue for more than just a few months. This has been going on for years. In fact, based on Isreali intelligence, the nuclear weapons issue is still a reality. There's really no worry that we're going to war with Iran since Congress will never allow for a war to happen. We're stretched thin as is.

Yep, we're evil at the end of the day. Which reminds me, it's morning. It's time for the average American breakfast which includes fried babies from a 3rd world country and a glass of their tears.
The best thing about America is we all have different opinions here. We argue amongst ourselves all the time, there are so many different ideals and ways of thinking here. We are far from perfect, yet I think at the end of the day we do much more good in this world than bad.
And to all you non-American's bashing the United States I would say look in the mirror before you open your mouth. Corruption is everywhere in this world. Your countries are far from perfect. I know its comforting and popular right now to bash the United States but if you are a student of history in any way you should know what good things our country has done for the world, and how many sons and daughters have been sacrificed not just for our freedoms, but for yours as well.

We invaded Iraq for two major reasons:
The reasons why we're still are in Iraq are:
Anything else is simply Anti-Bush talking points people use to feel like their voicing the "truth". It's okay to desent from the war and stating we had no business going to war with Iraq since it was, in fact, an optional war but this "Blood for Oil" deal is just simply silly.
Oil doesn't seem that unlikely I mean george bush doesn't seem like he wants to do to much about cutting co2 admissions so if he's not gonna find alternative sources of energy then your gonna have to find more of the one your currently using.

It was about oil. It has always be about oil. (well modern conflicts are either oil motivated or just about ethnic cleansing)
Iraq has about 85 oil fields.
The U.s Has allowed the iraqis to keep 13 while it "looks after" the rest.
Rumsfeld and his cronies including George Bush senior made a financail killing out of both wars. Its been u.s policy since after ww2 to maintain their superpower status.
The world is crying out for a leading nation that actaully cares about the rest of the world, and the environment. Unfortunately, people only care about money and power.
Also...why do think they wont let Iran have nuclear power? Do you think Iran is stupid enough to use a nuke? No cuz then there would be no complaints when they are wiped off the planet by allied nukes.
They have lots and lots of oil. If they were to find an alternhative energy source they could sell the reserves and become a superpower. The west are more afraid of this than any missile.
(btw im a white british citizen so no need to send the thought police round)

There is a lot more to it than oil.It is not just the west that is focused on Iran. Iran's neighbors are concerned about them distabalzing the region (even more so).

If the world is really crying out for a leading nation that cares about the world, why is all the blame on the United States? There are several oil rich nations in the middle east who could do so much to help their citizens and the world but do nothing. The standard of living in those countries should be so much higher, but very few see the rewards that the oil sales bring.
Btw, go Liverpool ;) you'll never walk alone

The reasons why we're still are in Iraq are:
Anything else is simply Anti-Bush talking points people use to feel like their voicing the "truth". It's okay to desent from the war and stating we had no business going to war with Iraq since it was, in fact, an optional war but this "Blood for Oil" deal is just simply silly.
ROFL
Go keep watching CNN dude
[QUOTE="Bazfrag"]It was about oil.
PopeReal
If the world is really crying out for a leading nation that cares about the world, why is all the blame on the United States? There are several oil rich nations in the middle east who could do so much to help their citizens and the world but do nothing. The standard of living in those countries should be so much higher, but very few see the rewards that the oil sales bring.
Btw, go Liverpool ;) you'll never walk alone
Got an uncle from liverpool ;)
but thats why Im not taking what this guy says seriously it just sounds like another one of those patchy media conspiracy theorys that sound logical until you pull them apart like you just did. The fact is if the USA want to maintain some kind of positive world image they would have to be careful with what they do with those oil fields and if george bush doesn't do something before his time is up who knows what the next president will do with them (well Im sure you could give me a few estimates :P) but I have the general belief that the next president will try and improve the image left by bush and one of the key things to do that is to do something appropriate with the oil.
