[QUOTE="ronvalencia"][QUOTE="PC_Otter"] Bobcat doesn't have a real successor yet, and you can't just replace a 6W part with a 17W one unless AMD has a Trinity related product on the way to replace Bobcat with. Bobcat still has room to grow by shrinking to 28 nm. PC_Otter
Samsung managed to fit a 17 watt SB ULV into 11inch tablet. Notice why AMD aimed for "17 watts" instead of E-350/E-450's "18 watts" i.e.AMD attempting torecycle Intel's work on Ultrabook case designs.
AMD (and ODM/OEM partners) can replace 18 watt Bobcat based E-450 APU netbookswith Trinity ULV APU and add a touch screen i.e. low cost tablet convertible for Win8 that can play modern PC games at Xbox 360 levels.
AMD's sub $500 Trinity ULVs are justrecycled E-350/E-450 APU netbooks shells. Premium ULV notebookswould be Mac-Air clones i.e. better case materials.
I'm talking about slate tablets of the type AMD's Z-01 was made for (like your Iconia), not ultrabooks or convertibles. My tablet is a hybrid/convertibles/transformer type i.e. it comes with detachable keyboard+pointer+usb dock+ethernet port device. This is within Apple iPad 2's prices.
The cooling solution in W500 is primitive i.e. AMD designed a better cooling solution for ODMs. It follows the air gap cooling method. Watch for an update on this front.
