If X1 first party going PC, what's the point of getting X1?

I just don't get what the selling point of X1 would be, if you can play the first party games on PC. Am I understanding this right, SW? I thought that's what they meant with Windows 10 compatibility. It seems like another mistake by MS in my opinion. What's yours?

It's up to pubs, and I'd bet Halo and stuff would stay exclusive. Plus cheaper, basically medium high settings for most games, split screen, etc.

I can speak for some others when I won't be playing these games on PC. Not everyone is looking to play these games on PC as a first resort. A lot of cows and brain dead thinking seems to think this way.

I really don't like playing on PC, plus I find spending 300 bucks on a console to be more feasible than spending 500$ + on a decent video card plus whatever other components I may need. Also I can gamefly games on consoles instead of buying them so that's another money saver.

One stupid argument I hear is that I can build a gaming PC for 400-600 dollars, problem is this so called affordable gaming PC probably won't be viable in a year from now let alone 2-3 years.

That's the reality folks, it doesn't matter if it's also on the PC, as long as it's not on the direct competing console platform then it may as well be exclusive, they're never going to get it on their console, ever.

i doubt the PC will get XB1's heavy hitters like Halo, Gears, Forza. This whole cross-play/Cross-buy thing is probably for Arcade, indie and 2nd party games only.

It's a really bad situation. But it's not just the X1 right now. Both the X1 and PS4 get four or less worthwhile retail exclusives a year. WAY too many games have gone over to the PC. It's really killed it for me. I've gone over to the PC and have access to most games there and I hardly game on my console anymore.

On the 360, at first I thought it was fine that the PC shares a few games with consoles, but now pretty much all of them have gone over, it just looks really bad. It's only going to get worse with DX12 (with the easy porting) and Windows 10. All games will multiplat with the X1, for example the next Fight Night, so why wouldn't EA spend a little extra and a couple of weeks or a month porting it to the PC and dump it on Origin or whatever.

Releasing X1 games on PC is a plus for MS and gamers, the only people that get annoyed are fanboys or PC fanboys who suddenly think Xbox is pointless now yet they're wanting X1 games on PC or PS4 fanboys that sudden think PS4 is better now because X1 and PC share games which makes them happy because they now can say they have more exclusives on PS4

You're assuming that everyone owns a gaming PC and if that's the case, whats the point in owning any console.

@SolidGame_basic: the strategy behind this for MS isn't for the PC games its for the console gamers and devs.

All this does is give MS more ammo when trying to secure a 3rd party exclusive and when they present the windows 10 PC and Xbox one compatible stuff and land a hugh 3rd party exclusive like a Fallout, or bigger it will be a hugh deal and either move X1 consoles or make people get gaming PC's and most will choose the cheaper option.

I'll believe Halo and Gears are coming to PC when I see it. Neither franchise has been on there since 2007, it's been a long drought (not counting side games).

This does provide an opening for Remedy to make a PC port of Quantum Break though, which is a big deal.

This isn't going to be the games. Xbox One will still have his games.

Exactly. On one hand, especially in those "PC has nothing to match The Order visually" threads, we read only a fraction have PCs capable of those games. On this hand its, why buy an X1 if you can play the games on a PC? My laptop couldn't even run Bad Company.

I tweeted Phil awhile back and he said that Xbox will still have big exclusives. Of course, we'll have to wait till E3 to see if he's telling the truth.

I still know a ton of people with T61 and R61 Lenovos and I bet you all of them will struggle running Pokemon Puzzle league on an N64 emulator, not even going to mention low settings on sonic generations. The laptop will probably explode. I did find it interesting however a 2009 Dell latitude can run Sonic generations at low settings with almost everything off.

You can ask the same thing of the PS4 as well. The only one this question does not apply to would be the Wii U. You can pick either of the twins or PC and Wii U and you are set this generation. MS understands this. Its why they are moving stuff over to their biggest device which is PC. Yes its not 'their' device, but thanks to windows, it kinda is.

Apple are a law unto themselves.

Don't worry, we'll be back to PC not being relevant when to comes to "playstation exclusives" like SF5, Dragon's Dogma Online, etc.

But while apple was using their commercials, it was only MS and the "i'm a PC" commercials.

MS really didn't need to make commercials. They were and are dominating the market. Unless something miraculous happens it will probably stay that way.

For a platform that doesn't compete or affect their bottom line, MS, Sony and Nintendo sure seem to very relunctant tin putting IPs they own on PC, where they could make some revenue.

Same could be said for Apple. Anyone who is interested in a Mac doesn't need a commercial to sell it to them. Girl I know here works at the Apple store in Soho and says the customers know the product better than we do. I think the point to MS' ad campaign was to mock the ridiculously generic, comb over, white nerd guy as the "PC" in Apple's commercials vs the flash in the pan actor from Jeepers Creepers. In the MS I'm a PC ads, the focus was the diversity of the people saying it, possibly representing the diversity of a PC's make up.

For one thing, I enjoy playing my Xbox One over my PC for the most parts, I made lots of friends on Xbox Community and very few friends I know have PC but not that lot which is why I enjoy gaming on Xbox 360/One, and most of all, the controller is nice.

Edit: Not to mention exclusive games like MCC won't come to PC.

Now that you bought that up it makes more sense given console gaming is on the way out and they want services such a xbox live and playstation now to be on as many devices as possible in the future.

As for nintendo, they are nintendo nothing else needs to be said.
