Yes. I'd abandon MS completely if this happened BurntWithWaterYea right ;p

Eh.
I rarely buy used games, so it wouldn't necessarily affect me - but I do resell console games once I am finished with them - so yes, I do mind.
[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"][QUOTE="jonathant5"] I agree that in some cases the used game market actually helps developers and the console makers, but I personally feel that overall, the benefits brought on by the demographic that you mentioned (and of used games as a whole) are outweighed by the cons of the used games market. But, at the end of the day, in order to determine what they should do, the developers and console makers could try and making a model to calculate what the gain/loss for them would be by making such a thing. If, for example, the net present value analysis of such a project is positive, then they would go ahead (I would imagine that initially there would be some lash back and the cash flows in year 1 and maybe 2 would be negative, but then it would become positive for year 3 and onward). jonathant5
I've been gaming for a loooooong time and I've always had used games in my collection. I've also bought countless new titles.. If, by some act of God, they do impliment this.. I'll quit gaming. or atleast with newer system's.. :P I'd just stick to the current gen..
Yeah thats understandable. And once a system dies, I agree that the whole no-used thing will pose a problem, especially if its a server based on and well obviously if the companies takes those servers down, the game will be unplayable. But yeah, I guess one of the reasons I am for this is because in terms of my own personal purchasing habits, I never buy used products (I dont know why, I just dont want to use something that someone else has used, no matter what it is) so this would probably not affect me. But for other who rely on used products due to financial reasons (or because they dont wanna pay full price, this one not being good enough of a reason) have to purchase used. But, an easy solution for such individuals is to simply wait a few months (3 tops) for the price on the game to drop, and then they can purchase whatever game they wanted. What I dont understand is people complaining that they may not able to sell their game, when reality is places like Gamestop barely gives any decent monetary compensation for those games. But you see friend.. there in lies the "domino effect" that so many are not seeing.. If Retail outlets (Best Buy, Costcos, Walmart ect..) didn't have to compete with Gamestop. Why would they drop the prices of their games 3 months after release? Just look at popular titles such as the MW series or Halo ect.. It took a year or two before those came down in prices.. and again.. you have to look at GS as the cause.I will not support any machine which prevents used games from being used. Ever. They could release FalloutSkyrimAmalurEffectSaintsRow on it...what a game that would be...and I wouldn't give that company a cent of my money.
I think Xbox players should be more worried about MS scrapping the core gamer instead of used games. History has shown...1. MS scrapped the first Xbox to release the faulty hardware 360 before the PS3.
- M$ scrapped the first Xbox because; it had very little japanese support, NVidia wouldn't come down on the price of the internal chip..so M$ couldn't drop the price of the console, and it's sales were completely dead in Japan and stagnant everywhere else.
2. MS scrapped the core 360 gamer to focus on casual/kid Kinect games.
- There's absolutely NOTHING scrapped about the core experience on the 360.. There are/have been 50+ core titles released on the 360 over the past two years (Resident Evil, Halo, MW, Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden ect..) And there are plenty of core titles remaining (ME3, RE6, Halo 4, GTV5 ect..). Only blind fanboys state otherwise.. And for the last time the Kinect was meant for the casual market, nothing more. If you are not a casual gamer, don't worry about it.
Definitely something to take into account when heading into the next gen...or even finishing up this one.ispeakfact
Even if Microsoft is in last place next generation, they're the one company that can prevail and handle a failure or two. They have such deep pockets, that they aren't going anywhere until they decide to. They're not like Sony or Nintendo who could get knocked out of the game if they don't continue to do well.
That's not necessarily a good thing, a company that can get knocked out is more inclined to give better customer service and not risk trying to screw over it customers.Even if Microsoft is in last place next generation, they're the one company that can prevail and handle a failure or two. Yeah, I know that. I totally agree. I was just pointing out the fact that Microsoft has some seriously deep pockets, and literally nothing can stop them.
I am barely on their ship to begin with (just bought my first 360 in december) but I will definitely not get another microsoft system if used games are not on it. Especially since that is how I found some one the games they are not making anymore on the 360, like their launch games. So if true I am a wii u and ps4 only person next gen.
I think it would be brand suicide to go against so many huge players in the used game market (best buy, gamestop, amazon, the actual owners of the discs [aka consumers]).If Xbox scraps the ability to use Used Games for their next system will it be a deal breaker for you and cause to jump ship to either PS 4, Wii U?
I'll put up a poll later.Edit: This is assuming PS4 and Wii U can play used games.

Only reason I keep a 360 is because it's not worth selling.
I'm not getting any MS console next gen.
Most likely I will end up with a PS4 and play a very select few games on PC (as long as it has no DRM.)
All the DRM-ware goes on my console, so I don't have to constantly de-turd my system.
What are your reasoning? Not wanting to fight/flame, just curious.Only reason I keep a 360 is because it's not worth selling.

I wouldn't buy it.
i don't buy a lot of used games but i do still pick up some.
out of all my systems i have i play my 360 the least, but i refuse to sell it because you never know when a really good game comes out for it. the last game i played on my 360 was Gears of War 3.
general rule with me is that if the next system is not backward compatible it's better to keep the system.

MS is going in the direction of mandatory Kinect, all digital distribution, and nickle and dime you to death.
I don't have room for Kinect, I like physical disks, and don't like to be nickle and dimed.
Vastly prefer the PS3 interface and aesthetics.
I like the fact that PS3 is not trying to be a PC, it has its own games and its own world, and I think it's cool to break up your gaming with Blu-Ray watching.
Expect Sony to move to digital distro in the future (that way they can screw us with DRM) and the PS Move. Don't for a second think that the manufacturers are on our side. They want profit, nothing less.MS is going in the direction of mandatory Kinect, all digital distribution, and nickle and dime you to death.

We don't have any friends.
It's just us and our brain vs corporations trying to screw consumers.
I think system wars is important insofar as people discussing platforms, but I don't believe in platform loyalty.
For right now I think Playstation is the best environment for gamers.
That's not forever. That's for right now.
Speak for yourself, as I just got done with a 7 hour session of friends at my place playing Kinect. So to each their own, but I agree with you that there is no platform loyalty, which is why I play all platforms. I just don't pretend like the companies like me. They like me insofar as I give them money, and that is it. And as a counter, I thin the 360 is the best platform for gamers right now (outside the PC). Really depends on what you want and like in gaming, but at least you realize its about preference and not what name is on the system. We don't have any friends.

[QUOTE="Lief_Ericson"]Personal preference or places you shop? Pretty much, I usually buy off Amazon or go to Best Buy or Target. Gamestop annoys the **** out of me.I only buy new games...

[QUOTE="GrannyGoat"]But cows have no problem with sony and their mandatory 1st party "online pass". Yes we do.You are the minority. Most cows here claim they love online pass because they buy "ALL their games new" and everyone else should be punished. :D[QUOTE="deadruler08"]
Anybody who says otherwise is a liar

If any system does it, I'd jump ship, UNLESS they can provide extremely cheap prices like Steam or GreenManGaming after some time.tagyhagThis.
It's highly illogical to think this will happen and highly improbable it will happen.
To answer the question though, I jumped ship back in 2010. Can't say I feel like I've missed out on much.
[QUOTE="Lionheart08"][QUOTE="dreman999"]
Jump ship to what? If Microsoft is doing it, sony is too.
dreman999
Sony's online is still free. :P
ya.....I can get free, unsecured, online.Bringing that point up is like bringing up RROD for the 360. They are both very irrelevant today.

Don't be so quick to put this past them, they already put online passes and started to block out single player content on disks the next logical step is to just block it out completely. Besides I don't put anything passed greedy corporations.Don't worry, guys. Microsoft won't do this, they aren't that stupid.
