PC gaming is the answer.

Calvin079

So the guy is talking about how little money he has and you say he should become a PC gamer :?

TC is thinking of getting an Ipad. He could get a decent gaming PC or any console and games for the price of an Ipad. $500 and upwards.

Hell if portability is the issue he could get a pretty decent LapTop ( More capable than the Ipad) for the same price.

First of all i am well aware of the graphical and control differences, but as this recession drags on, the gap between me being able to buy a new 360 game grows further and further apart.

Now Live is $60.00 a year instead of $50.00, there is also a rumor of games going up to $69.99 now.

It's getting way too expensive for me, i have a wife and 2 kids and these current prices are a killer, thats why i'm thinking of selling off all my games and 360 stuff which will take a nice chunk out of the cost and going to buy an IPAD and just paying between $4.99 to $15.99 per game.

Game prices are just getting out of hand.

you are going to buy an $500 iPAD because of a $10 price increase ?? man Im worry about you family.

First off if u cant afford 30 for a game maybe u should set gaming aside, and focus on stuff that matters so that u can fix ur financial issue, In regards to uir question the ipad cost like 500. u can buy a Wi for $200 (games for $20-$50), a 360 for $200, a DS for $170(games like $10-$30, a PSP for $170 ($20-$50). If u spend money on the consoles u have an extra couple hundred to spare on games. You can also buy a PC for that much, get a controller plug it in, and buy games on steam for like 20 bucks. Why would u waste money on an imac if u have no money. u can get a PC 6x as powerful for a bettter price. something doesnt add up

the initial cost of an ipad is far more than a current console.

Uhm, PC gaming + steam. During sales I've purchased up to 10 full games for the price of one 360/PS3 game. The entertainment:money spent ratio is so much better than it is on consoles.

Also, that Ipad nonsense is dumb enough to be full-on trolling. Hurr durr I can't afford $10 on XBL so I'm gonna waste $500 on a useless and totally unecessary gadget. You obviously have a computer since you made a thread here. If you really gave two **** about being frugal, you wouldn't even consider spending half a grand on a lame wanna-be laptop for the purpose of "gaming" on it.

Hopefully it doesn't go up to $10. If it does, I guess either go to PC gaming or just wait a while to get a game. The games are expensive enough. They're getting kind of greedy. $30 isn't really bad though.

What is wrong with this sentence?

I'll type this sentence again for the 7th time " I AM SELLING MY 360 STUFF AND USING THAT MONEY TO BUY AN IPAD ", i have so much 360 stuff that no money will be spent out of pocket when i buy the IPAD.

Not to mention i'm waiting until the 4G IPAD is released with the Face time and Game center software, so i can have video chat and an even better gaming experience, and my guess is the next IPAD will be coming out by years end.

Use the 360 controller, almost every game that needs a controller works with it,the compatibility list is pretty large.

I don't see why you can't use Steam for OS X and get some cheap games that way. Might not have as large a selection as Windows, but you should still be able to get decent amount of cheap games, and you'll be able to use your existing system. Make better use of what you already have.

Excuse me why I laugh......

PC can use any input a console can. Wiimote, Dualshock. 360 controller ect.

If you don't want to sit infront of the monitor than don't. Sit back and play with your controller. Yes PC's can plug into a TV as well.

You want to push buttons and play then use a controller.

No updates, patches? I suggest you start playing on a handheld or a Wii than because 360/PS3 have just as much of those.

Long load times? Um more reason to get a PC if you want to avoid those.

There is one thing I dislike more than excuses. Under educated excuses.

It's obvious TC is dead set on that iPad. I say leave him to spend his useful cash on an overpriced piece of glass and plastic. (Note: I am not necessarily an Apple hater, I do own a MacBook, my current computer, but I wasn't stupid enough to buy into that iPad hype. I used to game on PC somewhat, but quit after SWG went under, now I stick to DS/PSP more than consoles, I rarely get time in the day to sit down and enjoy a console game for more than an hour.)

As I've said before, you'd be a lot better off with a 4g iPod Touch. It already has the features you are waiting for in the next iPad, and it's portable. The processor is every bit as powerful as the iPad, but is the size of a credit card. As I said above, it includes the features you listed above, and it's at least $200.00 cheaper than the cheapest iPad model; the 32 gb model that is.

If you can't afford $30-$60 games. You have bigger things to worry about.i5750at4Ghz

No, not really. That just means that you might want a different hobby. Also, there are tons of games that cost $20. You can find them for even cheaper if you look for deals. Toys R Us even had a deal with Halo Reach cards where you could get games for $10 off, making $20 games $10 and so on.

He said that he's going to sell his 360 and all his games. Thing is, if he sells them at a store such as Gamespot, he's gonna get prolly $300 for it all.

pfft no. For all i'm concerned the iPad is a complete gimmick until it Apple releases one with two cameras and some usb ports, and judging by how long it took them to get a front facing camera on the iPhone, i'd say that would be in 2-3 years.

Believe me the IPOD Touch 4g does sound tempting, but i like the larger screen of the IPAD, not just for gaming but also for viewing video, and reading mags, newspapers and comics. So don't think i haven't thought about the IPOD Touch 4g because i have, and it's not easy to be patient and wait for the IPAD 4g, especially since Apple never let's the public know until the last minute when the next piece of hardware is being released. However i know my luck, and i'll cave in and buy an IPOD Touch 4g and the next week the IPAD 4g will come out, so i'm just going to wait, as painful as it is, everyday i'm hopeful that i get that email from Apples website about the new 4g IPAD and one day i will.

That's why Steam is so great! It auto-updates everything, no patches, nothing. Long load times?! LOL. With a PC you get hugely faster loading times than you get with a console. Also, no worries about changing discs. Just double-click and play. About prices, I bought Stalker on sale for 2€. 6 months after its release, L4D2 was on sale for 7€, you can't beat that.

Sorry but TC, your view on the PC makes me /facepalm. Faster load times, better fps, controller support (If you're that useless with a keyboard and mouse) More games, Modability, better graphics. Eugh.

Also, in the UK, I've preordered Fallout: New Vegas on Amazon for £25 ($38) brand new. Last time I checked $38 < $50

The TC asked "is IPAD the answer?", but he couldn't care less about our feedback. He has his mind set on buying one despite every logical and sensible opinion that warns him otherwise.

Apple products are for those who prefer them AND can afford them. They are NOT the best value for price (far from it, in fact). It's like buying a vintage car out of whim. It's okay if you can afford it, but if you just want a car there are much better choices to make the most out of your money.

Summing up: the TC has money problems, and therefore an Ipad is a terrible, terrible choice for him to fulfill his gaming needs. But he has his mind set, and arguing with him is pointless.

Beat That ? You have to play in front of your computer, i can take the IPAD anywhere, thats how i beat that. Not to mention there are about 200 games in the app store for $4.99 So you've been owned.

It sounds like you don't care about peoples opinions. If you've already made up your mind, don't make a thread where you can bash people.

Asus sells gaming laptops. For 200$ more you can get a gaming laptop that will max out most games and plays far more than an ipad. Plus it is portable. Beat that.

You can play Valve shooters, sim, puzzle, and lots of cheap casual games on your iMac, so why bother buying a new system? iPad would be like the same thing, only you're out of 500+ dollars.

PC gaming is the answer.

Slimmin360
Sorry i'm not a PC gamer, besides most PC games are released at $50.00 and rarely drop below $20.00

Huh? PC games are cheaper at release and they drop much faster in price compared to the console versions. It's not unusual to find a good game at $10 just a couple of months efter its release.

you can also take a laptop everywhere. And there are thousands of free games for PC, as well as thousands for few bucks. So I fail to see how you owned him.

I owned him because a mouse keyboard control interface, is nowhere near as good as a touch screen control interface I.M.O
