Seriously, if you don't respect Nintendo at all for anything they've ever done, you shouldn't be a console gamer.

Well since I am a PC gamer I am in the clear. I do respect Nintendo, until the launch of the Wii.
I have no respect for Nintendo's consols after SNES.Thanks to the person who mentioned this.

That's definately understandable, at least you respect something Nintendo has done.

I second that!i lost 1/2 of my respect of nintendo when the GC came out
then like a 1/4 more when i saw what the wii actually was
but i loved my N64,SNES,And Nes to death
If you don't respect Nintendo, imo you're not a "GAMER" at all.... you're a poser, who believes they are a gamer, because you've played HALO, MGS or Madden.
I'm not knocking Halo or MGS, I just don't have much respect for young gamers that started gaming during the PS1/N64 days or after, yet think they know what gaming is.
PS. Yes I know the first Metal Gear was for the NES.... but it became popular for the PS1
 Why should anyone respect a game company ? They just want your money nothing more nothing less.kage_53
Because you're a gamer and they've done a lot for the gaming industry. And believe it or not, they're changing the industry again. Yes, at the minute people think all the Wii will do is lead to an influx in casual trash, but you dont know that. It could have many positive effects on the industry.
I use to have respect for Nintendo, until they sold their souls to grandma and soccor moms.

Yes and we care about the opinion of someone who spells the word "soccer" as "soccor".

Well I respect some sports teams and really all they want is my money :|
Yeah...I know. Just look at stadiums. They want taxpayers money for a new stadium or they move to another city.[QUOTE="Blackbond"][QUOTE="kage_53"] Why should anyone respect a game company ? They just want your money nothing more nothing less.kage_53

You can also thank Nintendo for the "Playstation". Whoever knows their history will understand completely.dream431ca
Indeed. I think the topic would be better if it was Nintendo and Sony.
You don't have to thank Nintendo for PlayStation. Nintendo hired Sony to make it, and Sony did it alone. Nintendo then stabbed them in the back and got pwned in return.

If it wasn't for Nintendo wanting to make a CD add-on for the SNES then they wouldn't have gotten Sony involved in the gaming industry.

Sony had already been involved in gaming (MSX computer and to a lesser extent, the SNES sound chip). Sony could jump to gaming even without Nintendo (but probably without PlayStation), but they happened to have an experience now with the add-on and made a console. I think it's well deserved the ownage Nintendo got at the time for being so arrogant just like I think Sony deserved it now with the PS3 for the same reason.

Besides, that "stab in the back" was because Sony was trying to make a deal that meant that they had all the money and character rights for games made on the system.

Even so, it's low. They could have just settled it with Sony and actually analysed the original contract when it was made and made a decision then.

I thought that the N64, GC and even the wii all brought something unique to the table.. However they simply paled in comparison to the other consoles..
